About
Spoderman, also known as Spodermen or Spooderman, is an MS Paint character resembling a poorly drawn version of Spider-Man. The character usually appears as a recurring character in Dolan comics or videos. Any content involving Spoderman typically contains poor grammar and spelling and has many signature phrases such as "an fagit" and "sweg."
In August 2026, the meme experienced a resurgence online after a viral story spread about a movie theater in Canada not receiving the official poster for the film Spider-Man: Brand New Day, resulting in a staff member creating a custom one that references the Spoderman meme. The story rapidly garnered attention and media coverage online, eventually resulting in the theater taking it down despite the internet's love for it.
Origin
The earliest known mention of Spoderman appeared on the website WrestleWarehouse.com,[7] advertising a Spider-Man cape for kids. However, due to what the site is selling, it can be assumed that this is a typo and not related to the meme.
The earliest known appearance of Spoderman was on FunnyJunk[9] on March 29th, 2012. User evilfederation posted a picture of the character, a poorly drawn version of the Marvel comics superhero (shown below), which received more than 770 upvotes and 64,000 views in five years.
Spread
In the comments to the initial FunnyJunk post, people started reposting pictures of Spoderman and adding captions. These comments included intentional misspellings of Spider-Man characters, like Mary Jane and Green Goblin (shown below).
On March 30th, 2012, Spoderman appeared in a Dolan comic. Posted to FunnyJunk by user koalablast,[8] the comic is a variation on the Dolan "Everything Was Expensive" installment. In the comic (shown below), Dolan enters a science lab and becomes Spoderman. The character then says, "So many spoders."
On April 12th, 2012, YouTuber [1] Dolan Duk uploaded "The Uncle Dolan Show Episode 1."In the episode, the characters Dolan and Gooby meet the character Spoderman. As of August 2017, the video has over 1.5 million views.
After Spoderman's appearance on The Uncle Dolan Show, search interest for the character began to increase. On July 23rd, 2012, two Spoderman YouTube channels launched. The first, Spoderman Internatiunal,[2] uploaded the video "Spoderman Theme Song" that day. The video (shown below, right) received more than 680,000 views in five years.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day Poster
In early August 2026, a Famous Players cinema in Prince George, British Columbia, Canada, attracted attention after displaying a hand-drawn Spider-Man: Brand New Day poster when the theater did not receive the official promotional artwork in time for the film's release.
Rather than leave the poster frame empty, an employee named Drake Landon drew his own version of Spider-Man with a marker, adding an apology note beneath the illustration. The drawing was notably inspired by the Spooder-Man meme, while the film's title was designed to resemble the official Spider-Man font.
The poster, including several spelling errors in the note, subsequently went viral online, with Landon telling people that he did not expect the improvised artwork to receive widespread attention.
The artwork first appeared on the local radio station 101.3 The River's Facebook[10] page on August 8th, 2026, garnering roughly 720 reactions and 40 comments in five days.
The post rapidly garnered virality in the following days as it was reposted, such as a post to the /r/marvelstudios[11] subreddit on August 11th, which received over 54,000 upvotes and 630 comments in two days.
On August 12th, 2026, the Instagram[12] account Collect reposted images about the story, including an image of Drake Landon (Redditor Single_Storm9743) standing next to his creation, garnering over 169,200 likes and 710 comments in a day.
Later that day, Redditor Single_Storm9743 (Drake Landon) shared additional info about the viral poster to the /r/marvelstudios[13] subreddit, explaining that it had to be taken down. In the post, which received over 13,000 upvotes and 320 comments in a day, Landon said:
So yes, I'm the Spooder man poster artist.
And yes I'm revealing myself, because I honestly don't care at this point.
Didn't do a post saying i did it because I was worried of being called a fraud.
But I have the poster back, but sadly due to my boss telling me that head office called and asked for it to be taken down, for reasons that make sense now I realize. I don't wanna upset the studio so yeah. But I plan on copying and printing a limited amount and/or making re-drawn duplicates.
If anyone has questions feel free to ask, may not be able to respond to all, sorry in advance :/
