Who Is Tyler Catastrophe, and How Did He Become Known Online?
Tyler Solona, better known as Tyler Catastrophe, first appeared on TikTok in March 2023 under the handle @tylercatastrophe, initially posting low-visibility content such as personal updates, storytelling videos and promotions for his handmade jewelry business.
For a long period of time, his account remained largely unnoticed outside of a small audience.
That changed in April 2025, when he uploaded a video “auditioning” to become a second vocalist for the indie rock band Lovejoy, fronted by William Gold (also known as YouTuber Wilbur Soot).
The video was later rediscovered and rapidly circulated across TikTok, where it gained millions of views and became the subject of widespread confusion and mockery.
From there, Tyler’s name began spreading beyond his original audience as users shared the clip across commentary accounts and meme pages.
The initial viral moment encouraged deeper digging into his content history from many, which would later fuel additional discourse around the creator.

Why Is He Being Called a “Lolcow”?
Following the resurgence of the Lovejoy audition clip in April 2025, TikTok users began compiling and resurfacing older videos from Tyler Catastrophe’s account, reframing them through a critical and often mocking lens.
The situation escalated again in February 2026 when Tyler posted a follow-up TikTok discussing his admiration for Wilbur Soot, describing a meeting after a Lovejoy concert and joking about a “non-zero chance” of a future relationship with the singer.
@tylercatastrophe does this count as a vent post? cuz i feel like it's a vent post lol
That video, along with the earlier audition clip, became central to a wave of commentary that positioned Tyler as an object of ongoing internet ridicule due to his perceived parasocial behavior.
His perceived obsession with Lovejoy and its singer, even going as far as to prepare to move countries to be closer to Wilbur, resulted in spectators jokingly theorizing that Tyler had been sent to torture Wilbur as karmic retribution for the YouTuber's controversies.

In the same vein, TikTok users also began making ironic shipping videos and fancams depicting Tyler Catastrophe and Wilbur Soot, now both controversial figures in their own right, as a couple, joking that the two were made for each other.

As more users revisited his content, the discourse expanded into broader jokes about his personality, alleged narcissism and unusual on-camera demeanor.

In April 2026, another older video resurfaced in which Tyler claimed that multiple strangers had told him he looked like how they imagined the titular character from Dolly Parton’s song “Jolene,” which many found delusional, thus fueling a new wave of jokes where users spammed comments insisting he “looks exactly like Jolene.”
