Why in heaven's name has there never been a discussion on webcomics active today? Well I am not one for long winded paragraphs so I am just going to spoonfeed some questions. I create webcomics, not walls of text nobody reads! You don't have to answer all of them, you can make your own too. Webcomics are comics posted on the internet. It's stuff like Sonichu, Owlturd, and Homestuck but some of them are actually better. Remember loss? That was from a webcomic.

Do you make webcomics? If you do, would you like to share them?

Do you like webcomics? Do you think they help influence web culture like memes? Or why you do not?

Recommend some titles here, discuss something that irks you or you love to share about a series. Or ask for advice or reccomendations.

This is my webcomic, Last Spork in the Universe. It's shit in the beginning, but I improve. It does ramp up in violence. I don't tend to place my artwork on DeviantART much. Has a poor reputation.

Oh man. I'm behind on so many webcomics. Used to follow xkcd & CAD, but it's been a while since I've read either. Not to mention the 'What If' series and others. I mainly follow Cyanide and Happiness when it appears in my FB feed, but that's about it.

As far as the memes, just look at KC Green and how big of an influence his comics have been. Some of the old comics still pop up memes now and then too. I mean Pepe wasn't a webcomic, but next think you know he's influencing elections. Who knew drawings could be so powerful. ¯\(ツ)/¯

Who says you have to be rich to be powerful? Or to make an impact?

Not really big on webcomics, but one that I have been reading lately is this Korean webcomic called "Lookism":www.webtoons.com/en/drama/lookism/list?title_no=1049. It's the story of a boy who's been bullied all of his life, only to wake up one night with the ability to switch between his old body and his new, handsome body. He then starts a new life by going to a new school in his new body while working nightshift in his old body. It starts off as your average high school drama webcomic with a bunch of hot guys fighting each other and girls gossiping about what goes on, but it starts to turn into a coming of age drama with the characters going through a lot of different situations that affect how they act in the future.

And of course, there's Olympus Overdrive, the first webcomic I ever read and where I got the idea for the username "Eris". It has been dead for a few years now and its return seems very unlikely. It's a shame, but oh well. It's tells the story of the Greek Gods competing for Zeus's place as the King/Queen of the Gods. They are assigned a certain mortal that matches their personality (IIRC) and are to hunt each other down to severe the link between the God and their mortal. The last God standing wins. It had the potential to become something big, but the creator admitted that the webcomic was never meant to become a full fledged comic and was mainly started as practice for any future projects. And thus, the webcomic was (technically) cancelled.

I've had an idea for a webcomic, but I don't think I have the ability to make such a thing at the moment.

I've been thinking about getting into some more webcomics, if we're doing recommendations, I've been reading a webcomic by the name of DNA The main characters being a group of children belonging to a race of artificially created creatures with powers. They are kept in a lab, given essentially nothing but the clothes on their backs, and exist solely to be studied, and aren't even considered people by some of the researchers.

It's mostly a psychological drama, with the power aspect not playing much of a part so far. It's relatively new and there are only three chapters out so far, but the art and characters are really good. It even has one of my favorite bully characters in Rigel. Jay is a fuck though.

You like gorgeous art?
You like the roaring 20's and speakeasies?
You like fleshed-out, unique, fun, well-written characters?
You like cats?
Boom. Lackadaisy.
Seriously, I cannot recommend Lackadaisy to enough people.
Updates can take a while, but hoo boy it's worth it once you see how beautiful and detailed the art is.
Read it here => Lackadaisy
no it's not a furry comic

I've heard of it, the story interests me.

My Personal Recommendations:

The Meek & Mare Internum(Fantasy/Drama) by Der-Shing Helmer

Miamaska & Trial of The Sun(Fantasy/Drama) by Jeinu

Next Town Over(Fantasy/Drama) by Erin Mehlos

Kiwi Blitz & Sleepless Domain(Action/Comedy) by Mary Cagle

Harpy Gee(Fantasy/Comedy) by Brianne Drouhard

Two Guys and Guy(Comedy) by Rickard Jonasson

Sequential Art(Comedy) by Phillip Jackson

I still cannot believe none have recommended Prequel Adventure. It's a saga set in pre-Oblivion TES universe, but little knowledge of either of those is required to delve into it. It has strong character, humor, and about mid-way through its production value goes through the roof. I heavily recommend it.

I don't have the money to play the elder scrolls, but I love how it reminds me of Homestuck. Even though I look back at my Fanstuck days with cringe.

pfft, this barely got any posts. just goes to show how shitty webcomics are.

Hmmm… That's interesting, tell me more. :> I would looooooooove to see what your definition of a shitty webcomic is considering you posted in this thread. You obviously have a little bit of interest in this fandom.

I guess I'll just put in some webcomics I follow semi-regularly:

Nerf Now! – started out as a mainly Team Fortress 2 comic, but now just does regular jokes about games and news pertaining to games. I frequent the discord server.

Manly Guys Doing Manly Things – one of those webcomics that is about lampshading various aspects of fiction (mostly video games), but I personally find it to be pretty funny at times. Partly because I like it when overly macho stuff gets lampooned.

Sandra and Woo – a comic about a young girl and her talking raccoon. I want to say it's like Calvin and Hobbes but it's a bit different.

Oglaf – a very NSFW webcomic but I personally think it's one of the funnier ones. IMO the non-NSFW comics are usually funnier. Keep an open mind though, cause it can get pretty gay at times (not that there's anything wrong with that).

I used to follow Sinfest but it jumped the shark really hard a while back and hasn't really recovered since. If you are still interested, I would start from the beginning (2000) to the point where it jumped the shark (October 2011). If we were to only count those years, I would say it's my favorite webcomic (possibly favorite comic overall) but unfortunately that isn't the case.

some people make web comics out of stick figures like XKCD.
