Next Forum Game (Ideas Thread)

I have a few ideas for a new forum game that I have been thinking about over the course of writing my latest Nations RP. I am not certain how well any of them will be received, so I am making this thread to ask for input. I have three ideas that I really like right now:

Infinity Star
You are stranded on a space hotel named Infinity Star (because five stars isn't enough!). There is only one escape pod with room for three people and the computerized staff refuses to let anybody leave unless everybody can leave. Life support is slowly dying, and the lot of you only have days to live. The implied goal is to be among the last three living individuals in the hotel so that you may use the escape pod before life support runs out.

Each day in this game would require you to send me a PM detailing where in the hotel you will spend each portion of the day and what you will be doing there. Engineering an escape plan? Plotting the perfect murder? Enjoying your last few days alive by making friends? It really is up to you. I would then send you a response PM telling what happened that day and who you saw doing what, unless you were murdered.

When a murder occurs the robotic hotel staff will organize a trial during which the murderer will try to either blend in with the crowd or frame another player for their deeds. The player voted as guilty will be executed. It will never be revealed via word-of-god who the true culprit was, so you will be eternally anxious about whether you got the right guy (unless the evidence is clear or there were enough witnesses).

This would essentially be a murder thread where not only is everybody a suspect, but everybody is allowed to choose to become a murderer. Yes, it is heavily inspired by Danganronpa, but don't tell no-one.

Towergirls
You are a young knight seeking to rescue a princess from a tower or a dragon's lair. This idea is expounded upon in this thread. It would basically be an RPG with very loose rules and more of a story-telling lean to it. There would be a massive realm to explore and many possible quest paths to complete, all of varying global importance. Alternatively, you could choose for your knight to marry a princess and then embark on a campaign of world conquest. It really is up to you.

I am unsure of how to structure this game, although I have most of the basic ideas of it down. I have had the least time to think about this one so it will definitely take the longest for me to set up.

Illuminati
You are a member of the shadow organization that controls all of the world governments and you have been given free reign to use the Illuminati's resources however you deem fit. Basically this is a Nations RP where every player can give commands to any nation. It would start in a modern day scenario, year 2015, and the ultimate goal would be to either destroy the human species or unite all of humanity under one banner. Whether either of those are your goal or not would depend on the person, but the game would end when one of these two events is achieved.

Players would be limited to only giving commands to one nation per turn, but that nation could change between turns. You could tell China to do something one turn, then tell Canada to do something the next. You would also be very limited in your number of actions, meaning it would require massive cooperation between players to get something positive to happen in the world. It could very quickly degenerate into chaos due to a few rogue players.

So, how do you feel about each of these options? I will probably end up doing a game thread for each of these ideas, eventually, but I really want to know which ones are better than the others and what makes them more appealing. I would hate to host a game that is missing certain expected elements or is poorly received due to its very concept from the start.

Also, feel free to suggest ideas of your own for future games that you might want me to do. I would like to hear what you want to see on this forum.

I PM'd you my opinions on those ideas of yours and as for my own ideas one of them is already out so that leaves the second one. The second RP idea would take place in a active amusement park that is an expy of disneyland. So players are just normal chaps going to an amusement park to have fun, eat in fancy restaurants and sleep in five stars hotels or any hotel really.

However once they do go to sleep they wake up in a place that is no better than a dark and wet dungeon along with a few NPCs, it soon becomes clear that they were kidnapped by the workers of the park and while some people were sold to the black market others were taken to unknown room with a red door covering what happens in there, the players don’t suffer either of these fates.

Instead they are forced to work in the park against their will, with chips injected into them so the park can keep a track on them. The game from here would be on trying to find a way out and trust me failure will be brutal and trust will become a source of commodity that is scarce in the park for how can they trust anyone in there to help them, including the other players.

Hey there.

It has been a while since I gave making a forum game any thought. I have been distracted and a little discouraged, but now I am back and ready to make a thread and it is going to be Towergirls, because the other two ideas have been written off for their own reasons.

I wrote up an OP for Illuminati and then realized that it is a bad idea. There is a lack of individual responsibility and teamwork, at least one of which is required for a good game. While running the scenario through my head it just didn't feel very fun or engaging. So, that idea is out the window entirely.

Infinity Star was my second choice, considering feedback, the length of time it would take to do, and my own personal wishes. I was about halfway through with producing the OP content for that one when Crimeariver made the new Mafia thread, and I feel it would be a bad idea to have two fairly similar games running simultaneously. Very bad timing on my part, but that's what I get for procrastinating. I will wait until Mafia is over to continue with this idea.

So, Towergirls it is. The one I have given the least thought. I will begin working on it shortly, and should have a thread ready soon(ish). Today, tomorrow, in a few days. I don't know. I have never done an RPG like this and have no idea how long it takes to set up. Alternatively, I could just jump in and make it up as we go along, which looks like the nicer option at this point.

Here are the ideas that I am working through, which need to be resolved before I begin a thread:

-Names and backstories for the princesses
-Map and rough history of the realm
-Character classes, stats, and dice roll mechanics
-Quests and story lines (outlines, at the very least)
-How players interact with each other (could be difficult without a turn-based system)
-Number of players (I am thinking eight max)

Sorry for the long delay in getting back to this. I promise to make updates as development progresses along. As always, feedback is appreciated, and thanks for reading.
