You're probably gonna die many times through this game. You will end up reviving back at the beginning, but information you've gathered through the journey has not changed. Also, I may or may not skip to the part just before you die and may choose to go back to a past event to see if anyone wants to try something different. Choices are made through popularity. If no one can agree on something, I'll choose one of your actions for you.

About the land and you.:

You live in a world of magic and legends. The land is filled with mythical creatures. The only safe passage to location to location are the roads. But, even so, it's not like roads are protected by magic. Even if it was protected against dangerous creatures, thieves and bandits still litter the roads.

Enough about the world, lets talk about you.

Name: ?
Age: ?
Gender: Male
Height: 5'6" (or roughly 1.7 meters)
Body type: Skinny. (Enough to see the rib cage and spine)
Hair: Shaggy, slightly graying, unkempt, black hair. (Bangs covers his eyes)
Skin Color: Pale white
Eyes: Iris color is pale blue, with dark rings underneath the eyes
Facial Hair: Five 'o clock shadow
Teeth Status: All of still intact (Let's try to keep it that way, m'kay?)
Abilities: Knowledgeable in magic and can handle a knife. (How powerful and skilled you are is unknown)

Story:

Fuck. Shit. It's already morning. Even with all the windows boarded up and covered with fabric, small gaps from your run down shack still lets in annoying beams of light into your dingy home. You roll out of bed, cocooning your self with a blanket as you roll to the edge, lean off, and hit the creaky floor with a thud. You lay there for a good five minutes. It's not particular comfortable and you think you bruised up your arm a bit, but you choose to lay there anyways. You let out a deep sigh and finally unravel yourself from the blanket and sluggishly get up off the floor. You yawn and then stretch. You raise your arms and arch your back until you hear a satisfying pop from you back. Your house is dimly lit, the only source of light are the sun rays that enter through the gaps and holes of your shack. You take in your familiar surroundings. Five steps away from just your bed is your desk, The desk has three drawers on it side to stash away… Whatever. The desk is littered with scrawled on papers, a few open books set aside to the left. A stack of thick, unread books set to the right. A couple steps away is the "kitchen". It contains a potbelly stove, fire wood stacked unneatly beside the stove. Three cabinets are above the stove. One cabinet is lopsided, one is missing a door, and the other seems to be the only normal one out of the three. To your right is small stack of two boxes, on top lays your a shirt, a hooded cloak, thick leather gloves, a worn out pants. At the feet of the box, is your worn out leather boots, caked with mud.

Well, that was fun looking around the shack. We should do that again sometime, you think to yourself.Your stomach feels empty. With your surrounding now scanned, you head over to the "kitchen" and reach out to the lopsided cabinet door and open it. Inside is just herbs and spices. You click your teeth and move on to the next cabinet. Moldy bread and an empty jar of raspberry jam. Onto the next and last cabinet. You find the cabinet fill with spider webs. A single, palm sized black widow matriarch spider sits in the middle of the cabinet. Her thumb sized children walk around her, spinning more webs, and busily wrapping up insects. You put your hand inside and pat the matriarch. She lets out a soft hiss. Man, she sure has grown since you last saw her. You close the cabinet door and you come to a horrible conclusion. You have to desperate need for food. You rub the temples on your forehead. The thought of going into town aggravates you. The whole reason you're a hermit is to avoid people. But, this day always comes when you finally run out of food. The closest town is a two days walk from your shack.

Whelp, time to get ready to go…

What to do?

Retrieve Arms from the Chest

Get dressed and get ready to head out. Stomach isn't going to feed itself.

Also, slam shoes together just outside to get the mud off. Mud stuck in shoes is annoying as hell and might trip us later when run away from the gasp friendly passerby's.

Empty jar, super venomous spider, and thick gloves? Are you guys thinking what I'm thinking? It'll probably come in useful somehow!
We'd have to check a few things first:
- (Safely) figure out our magical capabilities to see if they could help at all.
- Check to see if a jam jar and a cabinet door exist.
-Check the gloves, jar, cabinet, and lid and gloves (assuming they exist) to see if they are compatible with the plan.
-Figure out if the spiders are magical or sentient or dangerous in a way venemous spiders usually are, or somebody's pet or something.
-If it's just a normal spider, we need to decide if we should trap the babies in the cabinet (if that's an option), ignore them (probably a bad idea), or kill them (a potentially bad idea) and with what item or magic?

End it all.

You contemplate suicide. You then sigh. Sadly, you do not have the required materials to do so. You need a rope and a medium or large Unstable Magic Crystal. If you're gonna die, you're going to take bunch of assholes with you with a makeshift mana bomb.

Get wallet, preferably checking our ID to discover our name/age.

You walk over to your clothes, that lay on the stacked boxes, and rifle through your pockets of your hooded coat and pants. You find your wallet. You open up your black leatherd wallet and find two gold coins, thirty silver coins, and eight copper coins. No "ID", though.
While searching for you wallet, you found a small dagger in one of your hooded cloak's pockets. You stash away your wallet into into your pants pocket and put the small dagger back into your cloak's pocket.

Grab bag.

You look under you bed to find a small money bag underneath. You reach for and grab the bag. Looking inside, you find twenty eight silver coins. Weird how you can just find shit just laying around. You put the coins into your wallet. You now have fifty eight silver coins in your wallet.

Empty jar, super venomous spider, and thick gloves? Are you guys thinking what I’m thinking? It’ll probably come in useful somehow!
We’d have to check a few things first:
- (Safely) figure out our magical capabilities to see if they could help at all.
- Check to see if a jam jar and a cabinet door exist.
-Check the gloves, jar, cabinet, and lid and gloves (assuming they exist) to see if they are compatible with the plan.

-If it’s just a normal spider, we need to decide if we should trap the babies in the cabinet (if that’s an option), ignore them (probably a bad idea), or kill them (a potentially bad idea) and with what item or magic?

You try to figure out a way to safely test your magical capabilities. You can't think of a way to safely test your abilities inside of your shack without reducing it to ashes. You walk to the "spider" cabinet and open it. The black widow spiderlings work together to cocoon their recently killed prey, a rat. The venom of a black widow spider can cause severe pain at the bite location in adults. Depending on the age, it can either cause severe pain in children or, worst case scenario, cardiac arrest. The matriarch black widows on the other hand, have corrosive, tissue destroying venom and are much more aggressive than their smaller variants.
A wicked grin spreads across your face as you conjure up an idea. You shift your body slightly to the left to look into the doorless cabinet. You grab the empty jam jar. With a little bit of effort, you open the jar. Still smells like raspberries. You shift back to the "spider" cabinet and carefully reach your hand in. Without disturbing the other black widows, you manage to get your hand behind the matriarch black widow. With your fingers, you tap the abdomen of the matriarch. She lets out an annoyed hiss and slight crawls froward your touch. Little bit more. You keep edging the matriarch till it's finally at the edge of the cabinet. You finally nudge it out of the cabinet and into to the opened jar, shrilling in surprise as it slides into the jar and hits the bottom. You quickly close the jar Obtained matriarch black widow in a jar. You shuffle towards your hooded cloak and grab the small dagger. You puncture the top of the jar multiple times, creating small air holes for your new companion. You put the small dagger back into your cloak's pocket.

Get dressed and get ready to head out. Stomach isn’t going to feed itself.

Also, slam shoes together just outside to get the mud off. Mud stuck in shoes is annoying as hell and might trip us later when run away from the gasp friendly passerby’s.

You think you're done messing around in your shack. You put on your shirt, put on the pair of worn out pants, then finally your hooded cloak. Your grab your weathered leather boots, head over to your bed, sit down, and smack them together to get the caked mud off. Good thing you floor was already dirty to begin with, because now you have a small pile of dirt at your feet. You put on the weather leather boots and just before heading out, you grab your new spider companion. You put the jar into one your deep, outer pocket of your hooded cloak. You put the hood over your head and head out of the shack.
It takes you a few minutes of bobbing and weaving through trees until you finally reach the road. You look both ways, checking the road for any signs of movement. No creatures or anything that wants to have social interaction with you insight. Seems like the coast is clear.

It's been thirty minutes since you departed from your shack and started walking the dirt trail heading to town. "Wow, thirty minutes on the road and someone hasn't tried to mug you. Must be a holiday or something," you think to yourself. Three bandits, bound in leather armor, emerge from the forest. The three surround you, brandishing serrated knives. Well, that was fun while it lasted. The bandits consist of a heavily tanned female high elf, evident of her signature glowing blue eyes and long pointed ears. She stand at around 5'9". Her hair is platinum blond and tied into a pony tail. Despite her youthful look, she could be hundreds of years old. A mischievous grin is on her face and she playfully twirls her weapon in her hand. Next to her is a, just as tanned, middle aged human male. His face stern and he adopts a combative stance. His head is shaven and has a beard. He's roughly 6'1". Behind you is a lime green goblin, sporting a neon blue mohawk. His big, long ears is covered in array of piercings. He stands at 4'2". Though, you can't see his face, he snickers to himself behind you.
"Don't move," growls the stern faced human. The high elf narrow her eyes and smirks. "Make it easy for us and don't fight back. Maybe if you're cooperate with us, you get to keep your life," the high elf remarks. The goblin behind you just snickers louder. "Well, can they get anymore more cliché?" you think to yourself as you cock your head to one side

Whelp, what to do?

Wow, this updated so quickly! Thanks so much, it's awesome!

Since this next part looks potentially more dangerous, I'll just throw out a few ideas without actually "officially submitting" them, in hopes it prompts other ideas or a vote or something.

- Magic? ("You try to figure out a way to safely test your magical capabilities. You can’t think of a way to safely test your abilities inside of your shack without reducing it to ashes.") May end up getting caught up in the blast radius, or failing altogether, but it may not require movement.
- Dagger? 3 vs 1 won't likely end well-- we'd need some sort of significant advantage, I think.
- Spider? Probably not a good idea. We'd have to make an obvious move to get it, and we'd be lucky if it incapacitated/ scared off even one person. Plus, I feel like it's more for later.
- Smooth talk? I don't think hermits are that charismatic.
-Cry for help?/ Comply? Probably not likely a good idea, given the setting.
-Run away? We're short, and not an athlete, plus we could be old. So probably not the best idea unless we know somewhere to hide or trap the others.
- Do something unexpected? Perhaps act like a madman, flirt, or preteny to be inflicted with the plauge? Probably won't work.
- Be clever? We might be able to say something to trick them, since our character seems knowledgeable enough, but I have no idea what that something is.

My best plan would be to pretend to get the money out, then as you're handing it over, punch them REALLY hard in the nose, and then use the element of surprise to run away, with the coins in our still clenched fist. If they gain on us, and there's no shortcut or safe haven nearby, try a ranged magic spell. If that doesn't work either, then after putting away the coins and "equipping" the dagger, do an unexpected 180 and lunge at one of them. If we're lucky, that may give us the edge we need.

Not very confident that this plan wiould work, but at least it's a start for our brainstorming.

The bandits consist of a heavily tanned female high elf, evident of her signature glowing blue eyes and long pointed ears. She stand at around 5’9". Her hair is platinum blond and tied into a pony tail. Despite her youthful look, she could be hundreds of years old. A mischievous grin is on her face and she playfully twirls her weapon in her hand.

The female bandit got a more specific and lengthy description of her looks than both of her buddies combined. If we have to believe the laws of anime main characters, this woman has most likely a higher purpose:

Therefore, focus your attacks on the two male bandits. Their descriptions lead to believe them to be the weaker bunch of the trio, making it smarter to keep the Elf for last so that you can focus all your strength on her.

Of course, if plot is to be trusted, by the time the male bandits are down, some jolly old persuasion might get the female bandit on your side. If necessary, threaten to throw the spider in the jar towards her which btw is now radioactive and highly intelligent (it's not, but she doesn't know). Women and spiders ya know.

I am only suggesting these, not submitting. Yet.
Kill the woman first. As a main character, she is clearly more dangerous than the other two. Next, do something disturbing to make the other two run away like cowards. If they chose to be brave, kill them.

But what I will submit is that, regardless of whatever we do, we should praise the omnissiah if we succeed.

I'd like to suggest we very briefly note your surroundings, or the part of it you can see or hear or feel or smell without moving any body parts, including our eyeballs.

(That shouldn't take more than a half-second, right? I'm mean, we're not monolouging here, just using pur senses, and a half-second should be long enough to sense something obvious, like spotting a river, or hearing a thunderstorm, or feeling a raindrop landing on you-- the text would just exist to transmit that information, right? And I don't think they would grow appreciably less patient in half a second.)

What do you guys think?

My best plan would be to pretend to get the money out, then as you’re handing it over, punch them REALLY hard in the nose

Your eyes dart back and forth from the elf to the human. Your grind your teeth and finally let out a long and heavy sigh. You take out your wallet from your worn out pants. The elf brandishes a victorious smirk. Both her and the male human ready their knives, in case you try anything funny.
Your hands shake as you remove your hood and offer your wallet to the bandits. Just from the pale skin alone, you look like you couldn't even put up a fight if you wanted to. The human lets out a satisfied grunt and the elf can only chuckle at your condition. "Look at you," she says, letting her guard down. "You look like you're about to die on the spot". "We should just put you out of your misery here and now," she muses as she walks toward with one out reached hand ready to snatch your wallet and the other hand ready to plunge her knife into your neck. This is it for you. This is your end. You ready yourself for what's about to happen. If only you can do something. Why must you be so weak? Your hands shake even more knowing what's about to come. The elf begins to grab your wallet and readies her knife. This is the end.

Yeah, right. You quickly grab her by the wrist with the same hand that she took your wallet from and pull her towards you. Her eyes widen as she stumbles towards you. With you other free hand, you wound up a punch. Before she could even let out a surprised gasp, your fist connects to her face. It makes a delightful sound on impact, the sound of cartilage breaking. You punch her few feet back. She hits the dirt road hard. Shock is finally replaced with pain as she squirms, squeals, and groans in agony. It happened so quickly and suddenly, the other bandits didn't have time to react.

Magic? (“You try to figure out a way to safely test your magical capabilities. You can’t think of a way to safely test your abilities inside of your shack without reducing it to ashes.”) May end up getting caught up in the blast radius, or failing altogether, but it may not require movement

Everyone is in shock, this your chance. You prepare a spell…

In this world, they're a 7 magic types. Since you didn't know the types of the world, I used a randomizer and picked out one for you.

Your left hand glows a purple and pulsates with arcane power. Turning slightly, you raise your hand in front of the goblin bandit. Your hand, inches from touching his pointed nose. Your hand continues to gathers power. The glow grows brighter and a hum slowly builds up in volume. The hum suddenly stops. For a split second, your surroundings are quiet. That quickly ends when you finally unleash your spell. A sonic boom erupts from your hand as you unleash a beam of pure magical energy, point blank, into the surprised goblin face. In an instant, his head is vaporized. The headless body stumbles back and heavily hits the ground. The heat, produced by the arcane energy, cauterizes the stump of his neck. The neck and a newly created crater, just above the body of the recently deceased goblin, hisses with smoke.

- Dagger?

It's only been a span of a few seconds since the elf tried to take the wallet from you. One lays howling in pain and another dead. You direct your attention to the human. His face no longer stern, but now beads of sweat run down his face and his mouth agape in both fear and surprise. No time to waste. You grab your dagger and unsheathe it, as you start to sprint towards the terrified man. His eye widen even more in fear. He tries slash at your neck, but his fear and unsteady hands made it easy to duck under the blade and position your dagger to his jugular. The dagger easily cuts clean through skin and muscle of his neck. For good measures, you twist the dagger before pulling it out. He stumbles backwards and falls. His hand no longer wields a weapon and instead try to apply pressure to his wound with his other hand. You wipe the blood off of your blade with the inside of you cloak. You then sheathe it and return it to cloak pocket. You know make your way to elf bandit. She has finally managed to prop her self with one arm. Tears of pain drip from her eyes and blood continues to trickle from her nose. Her hand covers her nose and mouth. As you get close to her, you notice a pool of blood and some some white sticking out of the red ooze. Huh, seems like you managed to punch her teeth out and break her nose. She finally notices your presence and attempts to pick up her knife. Her fingers starts to wrap around the hilt of the knife. Before she could even lift an inch of the ground, you stomp on her hand with the heel of your boot.

The female bandit got a more specific and lengthy description of her looks than both of her buddies combined. If we have to believe the laws of anime main characters, this woman has most likely a higher purpose:

You put more weight onto her hand. Tears roll down as she howls in pain. You pick up her knife and inspect it. "Look at you," you say as you take your foot off her hand and then slam it into her chest, knocking the wind of her and pinning her to the ground."You look like you're about to die on the spot", you mockingly quote her very words she used on you. She tries with all her might to remove your foot from her chest. You apply more weight and she screams in pain. You loom over her. With your bangs finally out of your face, she finally makes eye contact with you. She suddenly starts whimpering and tries desperately to get your foot off her chest.

Kill the woman

"I should just put you out of your misery," you coldly state. "Here." You crouch down, grab tightly onto her hair and align the knife to her neck. "…And now." You push the knife all the way through her neck and into the soil underneath. No longer can she talk with such pride, even scream, or attempt to make a whimper. All she can do now is gurgle as blood floods her throat. You finally straighten up and put your hood on.

Join the bandits!

The goblin stopped smoldering from his neck, the man no longer has the strength to apply preassure to his neck and can only convulse. The elf lies on the ground before you, chocking on her own blood. In just a span of 30 seconds, the fight was over. You've walked these roads for years. A bunch of arrogant bandits and thieves are little more than pest.

You continued on the road to town with no further issues. It's starting to get dark now. Well, can't sleep on the road, so you walk off the road and into the forest.

You need to find a place to rest, what to do?

First: praise the omnissiah
Secondly:
See if we cant use our purple magic to make an explosion that creates a small hole in the ground, enough for us to go into and sleep in.
Gather up the dirt that was blasted away to use as a makeshift blanket.

1) Holy cow, I did not expect my proposed plan to actually work (it was just supposed to be brainstorming fodder) and I can't believe I didn't kill us all with the list of potential suggestions I made.

2) Also, I agree we should get some rest, but I don't think using such an energetic type of magic when we're tired on a bandit and monster infested road. For all we know it could attract more bandits, or a feral wolfhound or whatever could catch our scent in the middle of the night and dig us up, hoping for an easy meal. I'm sure that's improbable, but we were incredibly lucky just now, and I'd rather not push our luck any further if we could find an alternative solution, which shouldn't be too hard.

3) I'll try to tone down the suggestions from now on. No more lists of potential ideas that will probably end in our death. (Yes, this is a list, but not everything is a suggestion =P)

4) Great job OP! I love it so far! Thanks so much for entertaining us, and please keep it up!

5) I wonder what the seven types of magic are. If the sentence "You can’t think of a way to safely test your abilities inside of your shack without reducing it to ashes." is meant to be taken literally, then one of them probably has to do with fire or lightning or plasma or heat or something. Perhaps in the future when we aren't so in danger, we could could consider trying a rather small spell, to see if we learn anything.

6) We should also try to loot the corpse(s) for free stuff, and try to find out any clues to their identity/ identities , if possible, to see if we accidentally killed someone rich or powerful or important.

So basically we're a stone cold mother fucker who can use the Kamehameha. Sounds like this'll be fun times.

Also, I suggest that instead of trying to make a crater to sleep in we look for a cave/shack/whatever and if we can't find anything then just make a basic shelter out of tree branches.

Status is tired and it's late. The tree banch shelter is gonna be a risk.

Loot the bandits for possible sleeping gear.

If anything, these guys gotta sleep to. So either A) They carry cleeping gear or B) They've set up camp close by.

If looting brings nothing promissing, scour the near area within a close radius.

Examine the nearby trees to see if any are potential sleeping areas. If we're that acrobatic anyways, and don't roll over in our sleep.

Or perhaps just a wall and a bunch of leafy branches for a half tent. That tends to work.

If it's fall, maybe we could bury ourselves in some leaves or something.

Either way, I agree after the looting and checking of clues, we should do at least a cursory search of any good spots to rest, but not waste too much energy trying to find something perfect. If we happen to find something useful like berries or something, we should take it and decide what to do with it later.

If nothing good turns up, I guess the hole thing will do, but we should try to do it in a way that minimizes our energy expenditure and the attention the spell would bring to our location, while maximizing how hidden it would make us. Like, maybe look for a "lid" of some sort that wouldn't look put of place (perhaps a rock or stump) that has at least roughly two square feet in surface area that wouldn't be extremely hard to move. If possible, try to obscure the hoke by doing it behind a tree or something, and try for more fetal position hole to balance size of hole and the amount of displaced dirt, and maybe try to even throw the dirt under some leaves or in a river or something. Finally, try to get rid of any signs of us being here like footprints or a "path" of some sort created by broken, stepped-on twigs and displaced leaves and detritus or such.
I wouldn't suggest going too over-the top though in our preparation, though, since we are low on energy, and we'll need as much as we can tomorrow since we'll probably be hungry then-- and it's harder to do stuff like get food on an empty stomach.

See if we cant use our purple magic to make an explosion that creates a small hole in the ground, enough for us to go into and sleep in.
Gather up the dirt that was blasted away to use as a makeshift blanket.

I'm trying to get some sleep and stay safe from the creatures of the night. Not dig myself a grave.

Loot the bandits for possible sleeping gear.

If anything, these guys gotta sleep to. So either A) They carry cleeping gear or B) They’ve set up camp close by.

If looting brings nothing promissing, scour the near area within a close radius.

It's been hours and many miles since you fought the group of bandits. You highly doubt that a bunch of low life bandits could have anything of use on them. If one of them were rich and powerful, congratulations, you unintentionally killed a bandit leader and made the road slightly safer for other travelers. The act of looking for their camp, just knowing that it will be filled with more bandits you have to get rid of, seems really tedious. Plus, you're trying to get to town for food, not out bandit hunting. That's the local's militia and hired mercenaries sort of work.

Also, I suggest that instead of trying to make a crater to sleep in we look for a cave/shack/whatever and if we can’t find anything then just make a basic shelter out of tree branches.

You still have an hour or so left before the forest becomes a walking nightmare, so you wander further into the forest in search for shelter. You come across multiple abandoned camps. You don't bother investigating them, you have a vague idea what has happened. Nothing interesting turn up in you mindless wandering.

Examine the nearby trees to see if any are potential sleeping areas. If we’re that acrobatic anyways, and don’t roll over in our sleep.

You let out a tired yawn. It's dusk now. The creatures of the night are already starting to wander the forest. You check the trees around you, looking for a sturdy branch that's high off the forest floor. After only a few seconds second of scouring the trees, you find a branch that'll make due. You're able to reach the branch. You only lost your grip when the bark of the tree decided to break off and lost your footing when you hit a patch of moss. Other than that, you were able to make it up the tree and didn't fall to the ground and end up with two broken legs. You pull yourself up onto the branch and straddle it. You place your back onto the tree and watch as the last of the sun's light is replace with darkness.

The forest is alive with the sound of crickets chirping and the occasional hoot of an owl. You can hear grunting and heavy breathing below you, accompanied by heavy foot steps, getting closer to your tree. The tree sways slightly as the creature brushes past it and continues stalking the forest. An hour has past since then. You started to drift off, until you hear a stampede of foot steps, growling, and snarling off in the distance and closing in onto your location. It's the infamous sounds of the apex predator that call this forest its home. It finally reaches you. From below you can hear various pitches of growling. You look down and spot various colors of luminescent eyes staring right back at you. A pack of forest dire wolves. Imagine a wolf the size of a grizzly bear, pump it with steroids, and give it teeth that can hardly fit in its own mouth. Yeah, there's about six of them below you right now. Just one dire wolf is enough to tear an unexpected adventurer into pieces with ease. Despite their looks, they're highly intelligent. Evident by the fact that, after a thirty second staring contest with you, they finally run off to find prey that they can reach.

You startled awake by a bird that decided the sing on the branch you fell asleep on. You angrily yell and wave your arms to scare the song bird away. You take a moment to wake up a bit more before you begin your descent down the tree. You head back to the road and continue onto town. Three more bandit ambushes and another night sleeping on a branch later, you finally make it to town. Two town guards greet you at the entrance of the town with a nod as you walk pass them. You make your way through the suburban part of town and finally reach the market square. It's noon and everyone is busy buying and selling from stalls that line the streets. A constant stream of people enter and exit store buildings. The streets are so full and loud. Kind of makes you wish you were back sleeping on a tree branch in the forest.

You can make a quick bee-line straight to the various food stalls and vendors, which you would love to do, but you get the feeling that it wouldn't be "fun". The town is a big place. You got the markets, where you're at now, in the center of town. The market district sales many goods and provide many services. Yes, even those kind of services, you nasty person. Surrounding the market, in a ring, are homes, schools, and other needs for domestic life. There's a militia recruitment and training ground northwest of the town center. There you can enlist into the town militia and help police the streets or help fight off outside threats. Why you would wanna go there, you have no idea, but you get the feeling you'll end up there somehow. Northeast is a school for anyone,of all ages, who dream of learning the ways of magic. So, in other words, it's a school teaching children and idiots how to play with fire. You feel like the world's future is in safe hands. North, beyond militia and magi school, houses the nobles of the town. Mansions, fancy private schools, clean streets, tightly patrolled and guarded area, their very own market area, and many other stuff for the rich, wealthy, and influential people. The nobles area are full of pricks. You've never been there or talked to anyone from there, but you know it's filled with a bunch of pricks. If you want to have the slightest chance to get in there without starting havoc, you either got to sneak in. Or find someone who can get you vouch for you and make sure to prevent ten militia guards from tackling you to the ground and punching out all your teeth.

Those are the places you can go, what to do?

Your status:

I guess we look for food in the market. Hopefully something tasty to calm us down, and then a few more badic staples of the edible kind.

A few ideas to consider:

-Visiting the school of magic. We know magic, so perhaps someone will recognize us there. Plus, we may learn more about this world or how magic works.

-Visit the malitia training center? This could be a bit more risky, especially if we are a wanted man. But there could be some sort of board with wanted posters and/or public events, and if thete's not one there, there might be one in the town center. This could potentially let us know who or what to watch out for, or give us our attacker's identity. If it doesn't, we might consider asking someone at the recruitment center about that eld in a roundabout way that wouldn't make them think we killed them. And there's a tiny chance someone might recognize us.

-The spider could be potentially useful at the school or market or the noble part of town, but because I don't think it would be a good idea, I'm not even going to hint at any sort of plans.

Just want to say a few things before I get enough options to continue the story. First off, I'm having a blast writing this and I'm glad people took interest in this thread. I would also like to clear up a few things.

I'm making this shit up as we go. The story can go anywhere since I don't have an actual end to this. The character you make choices for is also very vague. I have no backstory for him yet. The only thing that's set in stone is his gender, height, eye color, hair color, what he can and can not do.(What he can and can not do will remain a secret until the story reveals it) So, he is acceptable to change.

Also, no need to go in depth for your actions. A simple "Inspect building" will get his ass looking around and will take note of any important items and/or pick them up. If you get more specific, like "inspect building and look inside any available containers that lie around the building" you might be rewarded with nothing, something good, something bad, or death.

Update to Patch version 0.0.1

Upon dying, you no longer revive at the very beginning. Instead, you'll simply have to pick new choices and actions from time before you died. Removal of Health and Energy from Your Status. Status Effects, with their explanation, should be enough and give you an idea of the situation. Actions and choices are not picked, or were ever picked, by popularity. Just want to clear that up.

What has changed and what's new?:

  • You now have fast travel.
  • Past enemies you've fought are instantly beaten and are just mentioned if you encounter them again (e.g. Bandits)
  • You are now able to learn new weapon skills and equip weapons you're consider decent with.
  • You are now able to make moral choices which will later effect how you think, act, and how you interact with others.

Will do "Patch Updates" when I want to change the games rules, add new "features", or get rid of features.

Well, back to the game.

Inspect the school of magic
to check for signs of heresy
To make sure we can trust the wizards there. We only know one person with magic, and thats us, and I doubt we fully trust ourselves since we have voices in our head ordering us around.
One of them keeps demanding to worship a god that doesnt even exist in this setting!
On a completely unrelated note, we should praise the Omnissiah afterwards.

I vote we grab some food from the market and then check out the school of magic. Show those rambunctious youth mages what real magic looks like.

Thanks for the patch motes. I was under the impression that this would be more of a collective decision-making process, so I appreciate the clarification and will treat it more like a rext adventure from now on.

Also, as a suggestion, maybe you could write "location: (wherever you are)" at the end of the non-patch posts and give a specific name for each "explorable" place, just to keep things simple. (So so far we'd have "house", "highway", "malitia recruitment center", "marketplace", "school of magic" and maybe "training grounds", "town center", and "entry to noble sector". Also a list of the items in our inventory would be useful-- you'd basically only have to copy and paste it, and account for changes in between.

Lastly, in addition to fast travel, if we managed to accomplish something that we did previously then it would be nice if we died to be able to breeze through that said accomplishment by doing the exact same actions. For example, if we died, then when we encounter the bandits, maybe we could just say fight like before to quickly go through the fight if we don't feel like experimenting (although I suppose in this case the outcome may be different based on the type of spell, but it would still be useful to go through it quickly.)

Also, what would you think of "saved games"? Like, if right before the fight someone said "save game as fight1" then if we died somone could say "load fight1" and we'd be in the exact same location with the exact same conditions, except with any knowledge we gained over previous deaths? Or would that be too cheap?

Also, I'm so glad you are enjoying this. I really want to see this to the end, and I hope it doesn't end up just the two if us and that we won't annoy anyone with the constant thread bumping.

Also, one last suggestion. When we die, could you make a list of "official facts" we learned in the past run, along with another list consiting of all the other "official facts" we knew when we started this run? So far the only "offical facts" I think we know are "there are 7 types of magic" and "you know arcane magic" but maybe we'll learn things like "the name of the local town is X" or "you are childhood friends with X" or "you are deathly allergic to X".

Once again thanks so much! Please keep it up!

Attempt to get a cooked meal and make certain you have the money needed to get the supply of food needed for back home. The absolute worst aspect of this trip is that if we came here without enough money for the supplies we could be forced to go home empty handed, and stealing is too much of a hassle.

And maybe invest in a broomstick. The amount of dirt building up inside the home is gonna disintegrate the floor at this rate. If it can fly that would be a bonus, even though you'd become an outcast amongst witches by using a flying broom for house-keeping. Maybe two new pairs of clothes for the coming year as well, our current clothes where starting to fall apart and the coming winter could be brutal.

Oh man, so many things you could have but so much pain to get the money to get them. If we are limited on money, best is to use that money into a bath and a shave so we can look sharp for that inevitable job interview.

Also endure the agony of shyness to oggle some girls for a bit. But not enough to get their potential boyfriends/husbands on your asses.

Hrm, I might make a non choose your own adventure and just make a story thread, which this thread sort of devolved into anyways. People can chuck in ideas and I'll work with it. But, yeah, this is dead.

I'll check with the mods and see if my idea is passable.

But, I wouldn't mind making a another fantasy story, maybe centered around a new protagonist. I might focus or a werewolf protagonist or a demon. I don't know.
