Well, none of my search suggestions yielded anything. Anyone got any other ideas?

I knew it was one of these threads, I just guessed the wrong one.

My first thought was an ancient thread where Bob said he was diagnosed with "aging", but that wasn't the case. The clue at least made obvious it was a birthday thread with a twist.

Some searches related to that, searching for "birthday however" gave the thread.

He captured the mods, to use up their skills.
Though he soon learned the answer was nil.

He looked far and wide, he sought out the best.
“Surely I can use this bird-brainy test”

It told him a lot, it told him their queue.
“It tells of the failures, they unsurprisingly do.”

Obviously referencing IQ, so I thought it'd be easy, but iq, iq test, and intelligence quotient turn up nothing.

Key might be in the last line.
