Anyway, of the mane six, which ones do you think will leave Ponyville first. Simple enough and I expect everyone's (two of you) answers to be the same.

I think that Rarity would be the first to leave, then Dash, and then Twilight at some point. Pinkie may leave, but I think she'd stay. Fluttershy doesn't really have a reason to leave either (mostly because she lives on the outskirts of Ponyville anyway,) and her reasons to stay are the same as Pinkie's in my mind.

Applejack ain't budgin'. Give your reasons, and I'll give mine later.

I have to agree with Rarity leaving first. I see her furthering her design career at one of the larger cities in Equestria, like Manehattan or something. She wouldn't do it easily though in my opinion. I can see Twilight leaving every now and then for trips, but, she seems to have a fairly permanent spot in Ponyville. Rainbow Dash would be leaving for the same reasons as Rarity, except for her flying career rather than designing. Fluttershy, Pinkie and Applejack don't even have anywhere to go, really.

Windigo, keep that kind of stuff away from me. As you noticed, I don’t really appreciate it (especially after I ranted about how I didn’t like that stuff). So lines were crossed there with me
Everything has the point to where it’s too ridiculous for me. That post happened to be one of them. I have lines.

Sorry, but we can't enforce a rule over the whole thread saying, "no shipping or implied Rule 34 in case Popperfett happens to disagree with it". We don't know what your lines are, so we have no way of telling if we'll offend you or not. If people find that sort of thing humorous (which many of us do), they should be allowed to post it. You don't have to agree with it, but you should at least try to tolerate it. There are a few things about this thread that annoy me from time to time, but you have to take the good with the bad. It's just something you'll have to put up with.

I looked immediately to my left, and saw a lamp. My first thought was, "Wow, what a crappy talent", but then I realised the deeper meaning behind it. It was all a metaphor. It means that I am a lightbringer, destined to inspire the minds of countless generations. Maybe my fate is to overturn the current selfish ways of thinking and bring about a new era in human existence; one filled with peace, love and happiness. Or perhaps I will make some great discovery and shock every academic of our time.

However, I then realised that I was resting my left elbow on some physics homework. I think that's technically closer to my left…

Dammit!

(Oh well, at least I get to share my special talent with Muffinator. That was a weird coincidence.)

@Verbose

I once read a fic about this sort of scenario, but I can't remember the order in which they left. It was one that Muffinator linked to me, called Yours Truly. It was written as a series of letters between friends as they drifted apart, and it was pretty touching. Its a nice fic that you can read in one sitting, so I definitely recommend it.

Anyway, back on topic! At first I thought Dash would leave first, since she seems talented and ambitious enough to easily achieve her dreams of becoming a stunt flier. She's probably just one Wonderbolts audition away from fame. Next would be Rarity, to pursue a fashion career in Canterlot, since she seems pretty motivated to get out of Ponyville. Of the remaining four, the only one that seems likely to move anywhere is Twilight. She could move back to Canterlot for research or further study under Celestia or something like that, but otherwise I can't think of a reason for her to leave. Fluttershy and Applejack aren't going anywhere, and Pinkie has no reason to leave either.

When thinking about it further though, I realised this: Dash is the Element of Loyalty. Would she really leave all of her friends behind to live her own dreams? She could get into the Wonderbolts but turn the position down to continue living with her friends. She would only leave to be a professional stunt flier after the others had already gone their separate ways, so she'd either leave after Rarity/Twilight, or she might never leave at all.

@Alg
Fine… let's just not go nuts, okay?
@Verbose
Thinking about it, one leaving would not be a wise decision. I don't the Elements work too well when they're seperated. So, if any of them were to try to leave, they would be pulled back by the fact that all the Elements need to be in a similar area (in this case, Ponyville), to be functional. If one's gone, the rest fall apart.

  • Fluttershy stays, critters and everything. Plus I won't allow her to leave.
  • Pinkie is doubt. You can't forget the Cakes have 2 fillies now, which also need a place to sleep when they grow up. Risk might be that Pinkie is forced to move out because of a lack of space, but I don't think she'll leave Ponyville. If space is not a problem, I think she'll stay.
  • Rarity is sure to move out once Sweetie Belle gets older and can live by herself. She always dreams of Canterlot, would be crazy if she didn't move.
  • Twilight is probably the biggest doubt. Will she stay in Ponyville with her friends, or move back to Canterlot? As with the current situation only Rarity leaves Ponyville, I'm thinking Twilight will stay.
  • Applejack stays, farm and everything.
  • It's obvious Rainbow Dash will move out to live with Applejack once their relationship reaches the next stage.

@Discussion
The story Windfall is also about the friends' separation and reunion.
My thoughts are similar to everyone else's. Rarity for fashion, then Rainbow for her flying career, Twi might go back to Canterlot for magic studies, Pinkie might leave to spread smiles and happiness all across Equestria, but I think Flutters and AJ would stay.

@PoperFett
If you don't learn to tolerate R34, you're gonna have a bad time. Especially around me, especially on page 34.
You can dislike it, just don't post a response to it every time you see it, just ignore it. Also don't assume everyone else hates it or can't deal with it.

@Gigatoast:

Oh, you showing up reminded me that I got into a TF2 match with two people, Gigatoast and Sigmatoast.

@Verbose:

I'm with everybody else: I think Rarity and Rainbow Dash are the only ones with a reason to leave. Rarity might be too attached to leave, though, and Rainbow Dash might be too loyal. So, it's possible they might never leave Ponyville.

@RandomMan:

>MFW:

@People talking to Popper:

Yeah, I'm with everybody on this. You can't do jack-shit to stop the r34, so why bother? The thing that rustled you was barely even implied, anyways. I've seen some grade-A, top notch, one of a kind shit when it comes to my favorite characters.

In other news, I'm starting to like Fluttershy more. And Rarity. And a lot of background ponies.

Further blurring the line of favorite pony…

Applejack ain’t budgin’. Give your reasons, and I’ll give mine later.

I'm gonna give an interesting answer. None of 'em.

Alright, Applejack for reasons many have already mentioned. She's not gonna leave Ponyville. EVERYTHING we know about her states that she.ain't.budgin'. Ponyville is more than a hometown for her….it's the Apple family's hometown.

Fluttershy would never move. She seems content with her life on the ground as per her cutie marks story and we can all assume that well…she isn't the kind of person who moves around a lot.

Pinkie Pie is well…random. But considering how she's Ponyville's resident welcome wagon….she's never leaving. Pinkie will always be there….watching everyone…recording everyone… everyone.

Now Twilight and Rarity have the same reason for staying: Canterlot is like a short commute away. They really don't need to move a lot to achieve their goals. It's like living in a classy queit suburb next to a big city.

For example, Rarity already has Photo Finish, Sapphire Shores and Hoity Toity coming to her establishment and in Sweet and Elite, she doesn't seem to like the stuckup-ingness of Canterlot nobility.

Now Rainbow Dash has a reason not many notice: Have you seen the fucking rainbow mansion she lives in?

Look at that shit…..LOOK AT IT! GOD DAYUUUUUUM. You don't build a house like that with the intention of leaving soon. Now, there may be lesser costs involved in cloud building and rigging fucking rainbow waterfalls into your house compared to plain old brick and mortar but I'm gonna assume it costs the same if not more.

"But Fenix! What about Dash's career? She's gotta leave sometime!"

Oh…well she's going to fail her dream of joining the Wonderbolts and live the rest of her miserable days clockin' in with the Ponyville weather control.

In reality, I think it's the same as Rarity and Twilight. If she ever joins the Wonderbolts, I'm betting my ass that the training is done in either Cloudsdale or Canterlot, both within easy commuting distance to Ponyville and her Sky mansion. It will be similar to how airline pilots today spend large amounts of time away from home (ie, Dash on tour with the Bolts) but they still maintain a home somewhere they always kick back to.

I have a feeling I'm forgetting something but that will have to do for now.

Anyway, of the mane six, which ones do you think will leave Ponyville first. Simple enough and I expect everyone’s (two of you) answers to be the same.

Unfortunately, you're right in that my answer is pretty much going to be the same as everyone else's. As stated before, Rarity would definitely move to either Manehattan or to Canterlot in order to pursue her goal of leading a big career in high-class fashion.

Rainbow Dash, if she were to achiever her goal, would move to Cloudsdale. Since she is a part of the weather patrol, and her house is made out of clouds, I'm willing to bet she could easily move all of her possessions to her new area of residence.

Since Twilight's studies in Ponyville is on friendship, the only real reason she has to stay is if her friends are there. If her studies were completed or the rest of her friends were to leave, it's possible she might move back to Canterlot where her family is (or at least her brother).

Fluttershy and Applejack would stay where they are. Applejack has her farm to take care of, and it's likely she would want to stay to help raise Applebloom (because nobody knows where their parents are). Fluttershy's timid nature would make her largely unwilling to move to an area where she knows no one, and she has all of her animals.

As for Pinkie, I'm really not sure. I can't really think of any reason why she would leave.

For those interested (aka Algernon), there is a fic by the name of The Pursuit of Happiness that has Twilight dealing with all of her friends leaving. You can decide whether or not their reasons for leaving are accurate, but I thought it was a pretty sad and touching story.

Use them as you see fit.

Anyway, burning makes a point that I was going to make if everyone agreed. Dash has a different relationship with distance than every other pony. She doesn't need a ticket for a train to get to Canterlot. She doesn't need a balloon to go to Cloudsdale, and she doesn't need magic to walk on the clouds. Remember, she flew off to ensure that all of Equestria was made safe for the "impending disaster." She flew all over Equestria (according to Twilight's request, the only area of concern to her in a disaster) in a day and went to various cities before the sun began to set in the first day.

Dash doesn't have to move, because going to other cities for her is a quick 500 or so mph flight across the sky. But then again, moving for her wouldn't be much of a problem. Her moving plans would involve her getting the most sleep and not getting up early on a regular basis, so she'd be more likely to actually live closer to wherever the Wonderbolts HQ is so she wouldn't have to take an extra few minutes to an hour to fly to practice/performances.

Rarity, I believe, would still be likely to move. It doesn't take long to take the train to Canterlot, but I've never seen much that indicated that she would want to stay in Ponyville. She doesn't appear to be as social or as popular as other ponies like Twilight (who runs the library specific to Ponyville where as Rarity runs the boutique which serves ponies all over Equestria, and her dresses don't seem to be suited for Ponyvillians,) Pinkie (who knows everyone in Ponyville,) Dash (who is a bit of a hero, notoriously or not,) or Applejack (who is the getalongingest pony you're ever going to meet.) Rarity loves the culture and sophistication of Canterlot. She certainly seems to fit in with "Canterlot ponies." If she isn't living in Canterlot in 10 years, it's more likely that she moved and then moved somewhere else/back to Ponyville after realizing that Canterlot wasn't where she was meant to be.

Furthermore, unless her opinion of Canterlot has changed since the beginning of the show, remember her opinion of Canterlot and then in Sweet and Elite. She still wanted to live there even though it was close to Ponyville. She may be more inclined to move because it's close to Ponyville. She can still go back and see Applejack, Fluttershy and Pinkie, and still see Dash and Twilight wherever they are.

Speaking of Best Pony, Twilight's studies seem to be very broad. She doesn't appear to be a PhD or a graduate student working on only one topic. It could be that she is the go-to pony for theories and application in friendship, but I've always seen her as one day returning to Canterlot for her studies of all things. Again, Ponyville isn't far away from Canterlot, so she could study during the week in Canterlot, and then return to Ponyville over the weekend. She studies late into the night, so it is less likely that she would commute than Rarity who would clock out at 5ish to take the ride home.

I say that Fluttershy and Pinkie would stay for the same reasons. Their special talents involve making some creature happy. They've both created genuine relationships with their respective realms, so moving seems to be out of the picture. However, I'd say that Pinkie might be more likely to move, because Pinkie can find other ponies to make happy. Technically, Fluttershy could as well, but she's more concerned with taking care of the animals. Pinkie could go to another city as long as she knew the ponies in Ponyville were happy. Fluttershy could technically take care of other animals elsewhere, but who would take care of those animals if she left?

I can't really make much argument as to why Applejack would move. She loves her family, she has an established and successful farm to work on with her brother for a long time (both of which have related cutie marks,) she loves helping out the pony folk in Ponyville, and she's very traditional. If she moved, then it would be under unfortunate circumstances; none of which would likely be done in the show (e.g., farm fails, she turns on Ponyville or vice-versa).

So yeah. There are four tiers of likelihood of relocation. I think Dash (sleep and ease/speed of travel) Rarity (being suited for Canterlot, being close to Ponyville) would be most likely to move. Twilight (late nights of studying, being close to Ponyville) would be likely to move at some point, I believe. Pinkie would be that third tier (she can make ponies happy anywhere). Fluttershy and AJ have too much keeping them in Ponyville. AJ has more structural ties to Ponyville, so I'd say she'd be a little less likely to move than Fluttershy.

So:
>Rarity would be most likely to move.
>
>Then Rainbow Dash
>Twilight and Dash may be interchangeable in likelihood.
>
>Pinkie Pie
>
>Fluttershy
>Applejack

As for the Elements being together, Unknown, you make a good point. I don't think Equestria anticipates such disasters, but it does have it's "friendship nuke" should she need it. However, remember that the Elements are not restricted to the mane six. This is where they lie currently.

As far as we know, the Elements were discovered and used between Luna and Celestia. They likely stayed with the two until the initial Nightmare Moon incident, and Celestia was able to wield them well-enough without her sister to banish Nightmare Moon.

I'd like to believe that the Elements became inert after this, because Celestia lost her only friend.

But they were never seen over the course of a thousand years (again according to what we know of the history of Equestria) until they were needed. If there are no more disasters that merit the use of the Elements, then the Elements' wielders could become someone else who could properly exhibit all of the attributes of the Elements. Heck, it could be the CMC and each of the three exhibit two attributes.

However, your point is valid. It would certainly play into the minds of the mane six before they moved.

Like the latest Muppet movie or Shaolin soccer!

Wait…

I'm not the only person who's seen Shaolin Soccer?

@Verbose:

Yeah, I think it's unlikely for the Mane Six to drift too far apart. Which seems to be the focus of a crap-ton of fandoms. I guess it makes sense, though, as friends do drift apart and all.

But, still, even if they did move, they'd be close. None of this "Oh, woe is me, I cannot see Rarity, as she has moved to Canterlot." I mean, they've taken train raids that pass by like lightning to get there, MMMystery on the Friendship Express being the exception.

As for Twilight's studies…

HI pony general

I don't think I've ever posted in one of these before and I am sort of nervous but anyway HERE GOES

I'm going to be a guest on the Bronyville podcast tomorrow! Talking about how even though I'm not a brony myself, I research ponies and their internets spread. It should be really fun, I'm excited.

It's at 3pm EST/12pm PST, livestreaming at justin.tv and will be recorded for posterity!

Plz listen, i hear there will be a q&a time. also if you guys have anything to tell me about ponies that i should know, now is the time.

Um, what to tell you about ponies? I'd suggest watching a few episodes if you haven't already. I think episode 3 is the best crash course in learning about the mane characters. Also, Twilight is Best Pony. I'm sure you have noticed that in your research though. It's fairly obvious.

No, wait. That's a lamb.

I think you'll find that it should be a fairly relaxed experience. If you say that you just document the spread on the 'Net, then I don't think you'll be expected to know a whole lot about Equestria or the characters.

I just want some fricken ponies with fricken lazors attached to their fricken heads

is this where I say "page get"? someone teach me the ways of forum usage

Oh hai! Sorry for not being here at all this week – wait what's this…Fricken ponies with fricken lazors attached to their fricken heads…

Wait… THAT SHIT IS ACTUALLY CANON!

@amanda.b

Some basic info-

- there's 2 seasons, with a third one coming up
- there are often shout outs to fans in the show
- Verbose totally meant to say that Pinkie pie is best pony

Guys…you all should watch this video, it's so… inspirational.

I am literally kind of tearing up a bit and I rarely do so ever. I just want all of you to watch this and hope you all will feel the same feeling of pride and faith this man has put into this speech.
Chaplin is truly….best pony for this speech….

All I can say…Manly tears have been shed.

Rainbow Dash + X= Success!

Where X is every other character in the show.

Also forget all those fags:

Best Mane 6: Applejack

Best Filly: Scootaloo

Best Princess: Luna

Ehh, I'm gonna stick around here for a while. There's a bunch of down voters on the MLP entry comments, and on my wall. This is probably the best forum I've been on in a while. I just wanted to let you guys know that I love all of you, with all of the homo possible (just kidding). Oh, also have some music.

I see it's a remix of this.

Or the original of that, should not be so hard to find.

We love you too, Zarathh. Whether or not that's in a romantic way, well…
That's for you to wonder about.

No one has claimed this page for anything yet, I reckon?

Derpy page!I(#@&*!(#1

I've got a lot to say (don't worry; no butthurt)
First off, I want to apologize for my actions yesterday. I overreacted to the Chrysallis stuff. Though I do not like it, I now feel such a reaction was pointless.
Secondly, I spotted another reference in MLP:

This .gif strangely reminded me of this:
go to about 0:11

Thirdly, S/M ponies in our image gallery… really?
(sighs) not even gonna bother this time around.

Lastly, I WILL FINISH LUNAR DAWN PART 1 (of 4) TONIGHT
And I saw the word count was 5930 so far…
And that's an incomplete Part 1!
And you know what else! My last one, "Sunset", capped (in both parts) at a little over 6000 words!
