KYM Pony General V: We Just Don't Know What Went Wrong

Unrelated to anything:
I've been thinking, and I want to do it.
I'm willing to set up a Counter-Strike: Source server tonight (or right now if you want) for members of the forum. I don't have any mods, so sorry. It's vanilla Counter-Strike Source on Steam. If you want, I'll have server password posted here.
Do I have any sign-ups?
*note that if more people have Team Fortress 2, I'll do that too.

EDIT-
Alright, I'm thinking, maybe 8:00 CST?

In other news, how many of you have seen this?

if i may

@Back to the doc, are we?
Maybe I'm viewing the producers' goals a little differently, but I never really got the impression that they were trying to make an unequivocally positive movie glorifying all that is 'Brony.'
De Lancie primarily became interested in doing it based on his rather sudden and odd immersion in a fandom he had never expected.
They put out casting calls for people of many different backgrounds to tell their stories.
To me, it's going to be a lot of 'How did you become a Brony?", "Why do you like being a Brony?", etc, etc.
Though there are many darker parts of the internet that they could explore, I think most of us can agree that few people are bronies solely because of the porn.
Even if they create, buy, or regularly 'use' it, it's the show itself and the community built around it that has been the true impetus for the creation of this rather unique little phenomenon.

Basically, they are trying to document the founding and birth of the fandom.
The seedier side is really more of an after effect.

Oh, and I just wanted to say that you can be in support of the documentary without caring what other people think.
I love this idea because it will let me see into an event (and the lives off people attending it that I would have never seen otherwise.
Even if they cherry-pick only the 'good' stories, it will still be interesting to see where everyone came from and how they found the show.

@Ponibooru shutdown
That really sucks…
Ponibooru was the fandom's primary image repository.
Hell, half of EQD's drawfriend posts had Ponibooru's tags in the file names.
We'll move on and migrate to a new site, sure, but it's still sad to see it go…

GODFUCKINGDAMMIT
cough
that is all

With regards to Ponibooru:

I can understand actually why he shut it down. Judging from his twitter feed, it must have been really stressful dealing with all of it's shutdowns and lag.

This next bit may sound a bit mean, but I never used Ponibooru much because of it's lag. So to me, there is some good news in this. Derpibooru doesn't have any of the problems Ponibooru does, and most likely people are going to start transferring their images.

Granted, Derpibooru might start to slow once said images are ported. I'm not necessarily rejoicing in the fact that it's being shut down, I'm just being optimistic in that Derpibooru might be able to better handle all this.

Any people out there experienced with torrents?
Whenever I try to start up the one for all the 'safe' pictures, it says that it's too big to be a torrent file. (It's a 22.1 MB file)
I can't find any options to allow for larger torrent files, though.
Anyone know a way around this?

@Ponibooru shutting down:
I have fitting music for this situation.

Anyways, even though I didn't visit that site a lot, I still liked to go there in my spare time and just go through pages upon pages of images. But it's sad that it's shutting down. I didn't really like the community on that site though. That was the only bad part about it.But other than that I'm sad that it's shutting down, and I hope that it's sister site runs better than Ponibooru did.

@Popper:

I don't have CS, but I do have TF2, so I'd be willing to play the latter if the majority wants TF2. But don't let me be a deciding factor.

@Ponibooru:

I really never spent time there, but I guess if the owner needs to shut it down, or think that that's the best decision, then we have to abide by that. Not much we can do other than support him. After all, he did give us the site in the first place.

I hope Derpibooru proves to fair better.

However, both of my parents are authors, so my standards might be a bit high.

Oh cool.
This thread just hit the greatest possible number I know of.
8888 posts. Look at that bloody number.
Revel in the coolness of it.
Also to that ponies evolving from human things
That seems to work.
Especially with the thing where Twilight saw the…some star I forget the name of that's somewhere close to this…space.
I don't really have any idea.
At all.

Alright, is the Team Fortress 2/Counter Strike thing on or what? I need to know if anyone's doing it.
I know I got Explosive for TF2, but I need a bit more. Again, 8:00 CST.
Come on, let's bond together by playing a game where we kill each other.

Nah, I kid. I'm up for it. I'm on Lasers' friends list.
Also.

@Pyro #2
Alright, there's Lasers, Spy, Me, and that Pyro
That's, er, four.
We can do this, but I'm requesting more, please, to make it even more epic.
EDIT-
@Nightmare
Didn't know about SeaClubba, but I did know about Spy being Pyro. Thanks.
By the way, do you play?

@Muffins
Sure you can play. I'm hosting a server just for forumers here. So I'll post the password when I set it up.
That is, unless, someone can lead all of us to a larger server.

Pryo #2 is SealClubba, and Spy is Pyro. Just in case you had a hard time clearing things up.
I'd love to join the game, but unfortunately my makeshift comp isn't running well enough to play. Maybe when sister sends some repair parts or extra memory I'll be able to, but that could take a while. Guess I'm sitting out.
As for ponibooru closing down, that's a shame. I quite liked it. The only issue I had were the load times. Damn, that site was slow. Let's hope the new one is better suited for all the images.

I'll take medic for you, Muffins.

Is there a specific server all of you guys play on? If so.. What's the name of the server?

@Seal: Popper said that he would like to start at around 8:00 CST. At least I think that's what he said.

Alright. I guess this gives me enough time to take a shower and rush through a few pages of Homestuck.

@ponibooru shutting down

My only concern is that Derpibooru is having trouble already

But atleast for now it seems to be alittle faster with less crap to wade through than ponibooru. It's also more convient to search for stuff on Derpibooru because_you_don't_have_to_type_all_of_your_search_terms_in_like_this_hurr_durr_hurr. So that's my two cents. I probably won't miss Ponibooru at all, to be honest.

Also I set up an account on Derpiborru and noticed that there's no favoriting there but there is a My Upvotes tab that you can use in place of favoriting by simply upvoting what you want to keep track of.

Also found some Pinkie.

I'll tell ya, I'm gonna miss Ponibooru. It was probably one of the best places to go looking for images, a great time-waster. Also, I kept all the weird stuff I didn't feel like putting on my computer in my favorites, so now I have to move it all on there instead of keeping it in the Cloud. Oh well.

Ponibooru, here's to you.

Four hundred thousand dollars to fire that gun, huh? Money well spent. Them two hundred dollar bullets ain't so hot when they don't hit nothin', are they?

MAGGOTS, PLEASE!

Save the aggression for me, because YOU! WILL! NEED! IT!

Anyways, here's my account for Steam. Add me if you want.

As for ponies, I'm conflicted between the style I should use to draw them.

or

I think the first looks more cartoony, and I like it for some reason. The second seems to fit the show more, but I find it more difficult to get the expressions right, and all of that. Mind you, I've had more practice with the second one.

For further relation to ponies:

Gentlemen, I ask you…. WHY!?

@Explosive

Yes, the second one looks more like the show's style, but there's something to be said for originality. When a fan sees this kind of picture, for expample:

If they've been around, they probably will recognize the artwork and know instantly that it was Joseco who drew it. Whereas if they see one of my vectors in a random place, like this one:

They'll have no idea who did it, because it just looks like any other show-accurate piece. In other words, I'd endorse perfecting your own style. I would do that myself, but unfortunately I have no style.

@Pyro
In about twenty minutes. I'll post when it's ready.

Alright, I'm ready.
Server name: KYM_Brony_Forum_Tournament
Map: ctf_doublecross
password: chrysalis
*(you guys know why)
Have fun, and may the force be with you :)

@Explosive
I have the host name. Hold on, I'll reset (no one's there anyway)

@TF2

I wonder if I can join, but I might end with terrible ping. Even if I don't get booted for lag I might have to go either Engie or Medic to compensate for my ping. I need good latency in order to play my usual Scout.

But its fun pretending Equestria is post-apocalypic earth but instead of "Planet of the Apes", the horses evolve and it becomes "Planet of the Ponies". That's my headcanon and I'm sticking to it because it's awesome
