@Blue Yoshi
Personally, I prefer the first one. Also, just saw this Luna pic that's pretty cool:

@everypony
What do you think are the chances of us seeing good quality Discord and Chrysalis toys? Thanks to bronies making themselves a viable market, Hasbro's made figurines for Nightmare Moon, Vinyl Scratch, and Trixie. I've asked a similar question before, but I believe this was before we started seeing Big Macintosh or Granny Smith blind bag figures. I didn't believe that Hasbro would take a chance with Discord and Chrysalis before due to requiring new molds, and costing them more money. But if they make a Granny Smith toy, there might be a chance. I think if we did see some merch for them, it might just be a blind bag villain collection. Those are usually the closest to show accurate though, so I'd be cool with that.

Anyway, do you think it'll happen? Do any of you collect any sort of show-related merchandise? Is there any particular type of Discord or Chrysalis merch you would like?

I, personally, don't have any merchandise due to famine of the wallet. If I had the cash, WeLoveFine shirts and blind bags are pretty much the only things I'd take interest in. A brushable pony just seems too girly, though I wouldn't be above getting one of Chrysalis or Trixie. I LOVE THEM TOO MUCH. Also, Discord statuettes. Make it happen Hasbro.

@Lantern
I also have no official merchandise yet, but if they release a full set of accurate custom molds, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.
I don't want brushables, partially because of the 'girly' factor, but mostly because the characters' designs are heavily defined by their individual hairstyles.
I've seen guides detailing how you can mold and cut the brushable's hair into show-accurate dos but I'm way to nervous about ruining them to try that.

I would love to see a Chrysalis and/or Discord figure.
I'd say the chances of them being made are reasonably good, too, as Hasbro seems to be getting better and better at catering to the more 'collector' type of fans.
I think those little sets are the best toys that they've released so far.
They've only recently ventured away from endless blindbag recolors and into custom molding (Nightmare Moon, Granny, Big Mac, Gilda, etc.), so it's up to us to actually buy them to make the trend continue.

Hasbro is 'testing the waters' right now.
Let's make sure they know that their investments are worthwhile.

@Jackal Lantern

I don't understand the collector's mindset, of owning a thing without a function purely for the sake of owning it. I figure toys are supposed to serve as imagination aids for kids, and I figure even those amongst us a little too old to be adventuring into Equestria on the old fantasy brain train have certainly grown beyond the point of needing little chunks of plastic to help us do it.

That being said, I do admit that I'd really like a Rainbow Dash plushie (Lyra hole not included mind you) I hate to admit this, but it'd probably really help comfort me when my demons come to bug me in the night. I don't know though, have to weigh that against the possibility that someone will discover me in bed with her. I mean, there's just no excuse for it, none whatsoever.

Just a quick drop in inbetween study for exams and all:

The author of the Chrysalis tumblr finished this, I suggest we use it now:

@Jackal Lantern

I'm not really a person to buy merchandise related to the show. I'm willing to buy that official Derpy toy, as it's brony, fandom-related, and the money goes in the pocket of the creators. There isn't a better choice as I'm also doing something back for the Creators.

Currently I'm still waiting for it to appear in the Hasbro toyshop.

But let's turn that into a topic: Who of you own stuff related to MLP? Whether self-created or bought.

My answer is already there. I own nothing but am willing to buy the Derpy toy. But what about you guys? And in case like me when you don't own anything, are you willing to buy something or even planning it? Or are there certain things holding you back like a lack of money?

I know some of you own shirts, but don't remember exactly who. Plus I know Drpepperfan has bought a Trixie plush. But that's where my current knowledge stops.

I own only one piece of MLP merchandise. And it was given to me by my little bro who wanted to troll me. It's one of those magnetic things you place on your fridge, it came free with some My Little Pony candy I think it was Fruit Tails or something. The sticker is of Scootaloo.

Why am I not happy? It's Gen 3 Scootaloo :/ My little brother can't tell the difference so he can't tell he double trolled me!

As for merchandise I WOULD buy…. I would only by the DVD Collection Box from Madmax since I'm in New Zealand and a Derpy Blindbag Toy….fuck that brushable mane thing they are hawking in SDCC.

Aw…my old avatar when I was once a newfag. :D

WAAAGH!!!!

Topic: I did not buy anything related to MLP, though. But I want to get a plushie, but currently I am broke. However there is that pink Celestia in my house by my dad's computer (that abomination of show canon) idk who got it, and also I found some of the MLP McD toys in my home, and I figure they could be just my nieces.

So are we talking about buying things now? Well i never bought anything because i never have any money. But i would buy a few plushies just for fun and decoration.

@Randomman

Who of you own stuff related to MLP? Whether self-created or bought.

I don't have any merchandise here and until I get more income, that won't change anytime soon…regrettably

But if I do have the money I can imagine myself buying a decent Brony shirt. Particularly if it has Derpy on it. I would totally do that if I had the opportunity

Can't see myself buying any toys. They would just be plastic clutter to me. What could I possibly do with them? My money is only ever spent on things that may actually come in useful. But extra clothing is always nice to have so I would definitely get a shirt.

Perhaps if Hasbro released an MLP themed ergonomic chair/desk set…or an MLP themed nVidia GTX 780, maybe THEN I would be interested in the merchandise (Not that I would advise them doing that, keep marketing to the kids Hasbro)

I just felt like making this:
First pony thread: Created on Aug 22, 2011 at 10:12 PM
Second pony thread: Created on Oct 07, 2011 at 12:39 AM
Third pony thread: Created on Nov 02, 2011 at 12:12 AM

I wonder if it is the wait for season 3 that slowed down this thread?

PG 5 had a reduced speed from the beginning. The end of Season 2 doesn't seem to be that big of a factor and I can think of others.

First of all PG 5 was initiated at a time of hightened stress I believe…people were still hurting from the Derpy incident and tensions were high. Throughout this thread there has been a larger number of fallouts and conflicts between users which has discouraged posting and even made some posters quit indefinitely. A drop in regular posters certainly slows things down. The last threads were so fast because they had so many participants…this one? Not so many. This thread didn't really pick up until some new posters came in to replace the ones that left

Secondly many older users were demanding that the thread slow down after finding the image dumping of the last 2 thread unacceptable. Posters like Verbose and Opspe stopped using the thread entirely because it was either too chaotic or too over-dramatic. When people saw that, they started heeding their advice. Discouraging chatter and image dumping had a considerable affect on speed

Thirdly KYM had some kind of depression some months ago. People were whining that the JFF board didn't have enough quality posts, there were too many spammers and idiots making shit threads. People were just bored of KYM in general and kept asking where the "old KYM" went. This fallout influenced the PG thread as well

I believe all those factors combined dropped the usage of this thread by a good…oh I don't know…50%?

Official merch?
Only thing so far is the Friendship Express DVD, bought mainly to try to encourage them to release a full set here in the States.
I will totally be trying to get one of those ComicCon Derpy toys when they become available online, though.
They're just awesome.

As for fan-made stuff…
Well… I was going to wait until I had more to post, but since it came up (and I'm so damn excited about it), I actually have orders in for some plushies (yes, plural) from a couple people on DeviantArt, though I haven't received anything yet.
Money was never a major issue for me as I've been working for 8 years now and have no social life to speak of, so I finally decided to take the plunge a couple weeks ago.
I will absolutely post more pictures once everything gets here, but for now I can show this:

This is my little Scootaloo who was just finished on Tuesday!
Here's a link to the awesome creator: SOURCE

@merch
I have no MLP merch, mainly because I tend to use spare funds once in a while on SW collectibles or the like, and because I really don't need to have MLP stuff. If I found something like the Derpy toy, though, at another time, I would consider buying it.
---
Now, I have a question.

Do any of you think that less equals more in some situations?

For example (*not a real rant), there was a comic a while back with Doctor Whooves waking up in a bed, then realizing Derpy was next to him. He was quite alarmed, and something along the lines of "What happened last night?"
I'd have to admit, that was pretty funny. I genuinely laughed.
However, the sequel was released not long ago (I think a few hours ago, in fact) in the image gallery, and I found it less amusing. I thought it would've stayed a lot more amusing if he had just left it at the original.
Thoughts?

@DeadParrot

It looks like I know whose house I'm robbing next!

How much did you pay for that if you don't mind my asking.

@Popperfett

I know the comic you're talking about and I know exatly what you mean. I think it's less a situation of less=more and more the fact that the comic was just completely witless. It was just too blunt and obvious in it's wording to be humorous, so it just comes across as crass.

Last edited Jun 14, 2012 at 11:15AM EDT

@Fifths
I'm a little embarrassed to mention prices considering how many people here talk about money problems, but it was $175 by herself and another $25 for the cape.
For that quality, I thought it was a really good deal!
As I said though, more to come in a couple weeks probably!

@Popper
A thousand times, yes!
Less can definitely be more, especially when it comes to comedy.
A subtle, 'fill in the blanks' kind of ending can be far more entertaining than having the joke spelled out for you explicitly.
There is this (somewhat understandable) modern trend to push the boundaries when it comes to comedy, but for a lot of people, this means 'more profanity, sex, drugs, etc.'
While those subjects can certainly contain comedy, far too often they are the punchline rather than being a situational aspect of the joke.
It's why I can't stand a lot of modern/teen comedies.
They seem to set out to be as raunchy as possible in lieu of actually being funny or witty.

@DeadParrot

Sounds about right from what I saw of my own plushie browsing. Hearing those kinds of numbers really gives you an appreciation for the industrial revolution and mass production. A plushie that would cost like 10 bucks if it were machine made costs hundreds of dollars if made by hand.

Now I have to decide though, new instrument, or Rainbow Dash plush? Or food, I guess.

Last edited Jun 14, 2012 at 11:40AM EDT

@MLP Merch:

My mom bought me a set of four blind-bag-ish toys (Rarity, Pinkie, RD, and Twilight), one of the brushable toys (Fluttershy), and a McD toy (AJ). Since my Spartan figurine from Halo had his arm ripped off accidentally, I pretend they killed him to conquer my desktop, and to firmly establish the rule of their High Overlord Yellow Pone.

I also own two shirts, which I got from Welovefine. They're pretty neat, and not too obvious, but any brony could easily understand them.

@Less is more:

Guise, guise, cmon guise. The only real form of comedy is expression through intense and brutal bludgeoning of the punchline into the reader's head. The same applies to reading. Cliffhangers, unanswered questions, and lack of knowledge? Nope.

@Fifth's riddle:

It's Chesty Motherfucking McThunderbeard.

He is better than every other character at everything, isn't in the spotlight 100% of the time (get on it, Hasbro), and he can turn invisible.

/riddle

@Fifths question:

Buy an edible Rainbow Dash plushie that you can play like a harp.

Last edited Jun 14, 2012 at 11:56AM EDT

@owning shit
As most of the older users know, awhile back I came "out of the stable" and admitted I was a brony to my mom. And we worked out a deal:
Put up with the lazy, drunk, dumbass foreign exchange student and I get something. What I chose:

Yeah, I bought one case of the blind bags from Hasbro Toy Shop. Suprisingly, I found a generic one I took a liking to. The teal with orange hair Twilight redeco named Firecracker Burst. Pyromaniac pony FTW.
And I recently made another deal with her. Get every grade to at least a B for final grades, and I get this
Be jelly of my Nightmare Moon filly plush.
BE JELLY I SAY!
(Also, I got a NmM blind bag custom in the works. Pretty cheap considering the quality and that customs often go through the roof like plushies do.)

@Fifths
If you, or anyone else really, is looking for a pony without wanting to break the bank, you could try ordering from this artist: BEWAREOFKITTY.
She makes these at $35 for a 7 inch version or $25 for a 3.5 inch version:

I used to love Beanie Babies back in the day, so these things hit all the right cuteness buttons while still being quite affordable!
Her commissions are open right now, too, so jump on this opportunity if you want one!

I don't own any MLP merch and I don't plan to, though I have thought of it. I guess it would be weird if I had the same toys as my four year old niece.
Anyway, here's my newest PMV:

@DeadParrot

You bastard! You're geting a Dash too?

I am so breaking into your house Deadparrot.

Edit: Alright, fuck this shit. I need to go downtown and guitar for some goddamned money.

Double Edit: You're such a bastard Deadparrot, that was a nuclear jealousy bomb you just dropped.

@Fifths
Oh, I PM'ed you right as you posted about it here, so what the hell…

Can't have the student without the mentor!

I just got this picture about 45 minutes ago and have only now recovered enough to type about it! LINK

I'm going to go make sure my heart is still working.

@Lasers, below
I've been saying that from the beginning.
Hasbro is missing out on a goldmine of potential profits by not getting their hand in this plushie game, especially with things like bewareofkitty's little beanie plushes.
Those beanie baby style designs would be perfect for mass production since they are all based on the same basic body, with colors and details added for distinction (basically the same way they build the characters in the actual show!).
With Hasbro's manufacturing behind it, they could churn these ponies out by the thousands and they would sell, damn it!
And not just to bronies, either.
They are just so cute that I think plenty of children would want them, too.

@DeadParrot

A voice in my head is telling me to do horrible things to you and steal your plushies. I'm half tempted to listen to it.

Yes, I'm jelly.

@Merchandise

I've never bought any merchandise for a multitude of reasons. The primary one is that I'm a "stable" brony (*shudders*), and the only people that know of my fanaticism is my closest friend (who also watches the show, but isn't a brony), and my ninja roommate. The reason for this is that one of my other close friends is against bronies (he's somewhat judgemental) and I don't think my dad was happy to hear that my brother liked the show as well (he convinced me to watch the show, he just doesn't know it). He bought an RD shirt and has a Pinkie blind-bag thing.

Then, there is of course the fact that I'm in college. I don't have a job, so I have a limited budget as it is. I'm incredibly tempted to get something from Bewareofkitty though.

ALL MY WANT!

Speaking of college, I'm taking my last final in a couple of hours. After that, I'm packing and moving home. I haven't seen my family since December.

You guise like ponies with guns? Dunno why I never mentioned this before but I've always liked guns, gone to gun shows, most of the movies I like have guns, a lot of the videogames I like have guns, all of the careers I've seriously been interested in involve guns, and yet I only like the concept of ponies with guns to a certain extent. I don't like the idea of them shooting each other, I guess.

The gifs are always neat though

and I've never been able to look at this without laughing

You guys don't have to watch out though because you ain't got a badass over here or anything – those plushies that DeadParrot posted demanded one hell of a fangirlish daaaw out of me.

@about thread momentum
Now that it's summer things should pick up a bit. Wasn't it that alot of people's excuse for not posting much was school or college?

lol.

>working hard and going to college
>not lazily slacking off until you feel like going to police academy

get on my level

On second thought maybe you shouldn't I'm probably not going to make a whole lot of money for awhile lol

@Iamslow
OPEN FIRE!

I'm in the same boat as you when it comes to ponies and guns except that I also dislike them in real life, too!
The largest caliber weapon I've ever fired was a BB gun over a decade ago and I've never had the need nor desire to touch another gun.
I can play violent, gun-based video games all day long (I just finished Dead Space 2 the other day), but I have absolutely no interest in real ones.
As for ponies, I can read about them firing at each other (I loved Fallout: Equestria) but having it as a visual really bothers me.
They're too peaceful and almost utopian for gun violence to tarnish them.

Did someone say ponies with guns?

@DeadParrot: They talk about guns and bullets and tanks in the show. So it is slightly canon that there is warfare, and in episode "It's About Time" Twi asks if there's some sort of great pony war in the future. So it could be that they have had wars before, but they've never gone to in depth about it. Or maybe I'm just over analyzing stuff to much. I don't know.
Obligatory song is needed with all of these guns.

PONIES WITH GUNS YOU SAY!?

I like it if it's comical, a la TF2 (which, let's be honest, rarely takes itself completely seriously). Super-duper-serial things like CoD and Battlefield though rarely interest me anyways, even less so with ponies involved.

As for guns in real-life, I don't have an overbearing interest in them or want them to be a major part of my life, but I know how to fire them and all. I also think it's generally a good idea for concealed handgun laws and things similar to that to be enacted, though that's another topic for another time.

Ponies with guns! I don't prefer guns in real life, but I like it when it is not used in real life and in pics meant to be comical, like this:

<img src = "http://img.ponibooru.org/images/5dbba44f7e4bf89e43ee7f0259e73d55/128358%20-%20artist%3ANeodaBIG%20battlefield_3%20BattlefieldSeries%20crossover%20gun%20rarity%20sniper%20weapon.png">

How do they even hold guns…in a lot of stuff that involves TF2 they hold their guns rather than have them on the side. Not only that but how does twilight even pull the trigger on her sniper rifle without any fingers?

Fingers?!
We don't need no stinking fingers!

@Fifths
Absolutely, yes.
I had to cover part of the screen with my hand just to force myself through it, but that damn programmers made it a frickin' mini-game!
You can't look away too much or you'll lose!
And you could have told me it was right at the very end of the game.
I was anxiously anticipating it the whole time. =)

@Ponies w/ guns

EDIT
(sorry for going over image post)

@Seaclubba

…but if they really do use firearms, I would assume a larger hoof trigger would be necessary. You can probably build the guns in the same way, but just have the triggers a little larger.

@Omegadrone
WHY WOULD YOU LINK THAT?

In response to the ponies with guns thing…

Which crossover would work best with ponies in your opinion? And no, not Fallot: Equestria. I mean crossovers that haven't been made into fanfic. If you can find any that is…

@El Sinker
-Gladiator
-Troy
-Band of Brothers
-Tom Clancy novels (anything from him)
-Star Wars Thrawn Trilogy
- We Were Soldiers

Some of my picks that aren't ponified (as far as I know)

@Omegadrone & Camera Man
Well that took things to another level.

That was…rather sad. Very sad in fact. .
unrelated note: Alright, time to write…Lunar Dawn Part III is gonna get finished soon, I promise.

EDIT- Well, the image gallery is going through that weird phase again…

MAGGOTS!

@The pic people are being bitches over, part two: the real version:

That's the kind of shit that hits right home. That's the kind of stuff that undermines your masculinity. My inner paternal instincts feel bad, as does my inner not-a-dick.

Although, I'm not sure about the validity of the whole deal, considering what Luna and Celestia have proven to be, even more so since it's Nightmare Moon.

@Ponies with guns crossovers:

-Borderlands
-Splinter Cell
-Red Dead Redemption
-L.A. Noir
-Uncharted
-Half-Life
-Deus Ex
-Metal Gear Solid

Not sure if they've been made into crossovers, really. Would be awesome for them to be.

Also, that last one is in there entirely because of this:

@guns

Need I say more?
@the image
That…that hurts. Seeing my own foal suffocate right before me…I don't think I could live with myself if that ever happened. I'm relieved it's just an image…just an image…

I dare somebody to name each pony and the gun they are holding. Do it, I fucking dare you.

I'll even give you a hint by listing the names of some of them:

XM8 Compact, XM109, XM2010, Ares LMG, M249, AK47, AK74, AK108, Dragunov, AW2000, AAI ACR, Uzi, MP7, MP5, MP5k, Steyr TMP, Steyr AUG, Demon Slayer, TDI Vector, Beretta, Desert Eagle, SOCOM, HK UMP.45, HK416, HK G36, Klobb, OICW ACR, Mossberg, M3, Pancor Jackhammer, Magpul FMG 9, Remington SR8, FAMAS, IMI Defender, UTS 15, SCAR-L, M4 Carbine, LR300

Good luck figuring out which is which.
