I really like her mane! Apparently She's also known as Tutti Frutti (lol why) but searching for her using that name yields even less results pretty much everywhere you look. I know I've seen her in a couple episodes in season 1, but I don't think I've seen her at all in Season 2. And yeah, I don't get why the fandom almost entirely ignores her either.

Hey guys! Where can I find some decent quality mp3's for season two's songs? Google isn't really helping.

One of the composers had a website for them, not sure if they were available for download though. You could just search them on YouTube, the videos usually have download links.

It's just that Skillrex and Dead Mau5 have, well, (looks for shitstorm-free word) harmed the reputation of the entire genre as a whole.

True dat. I like quite a few dubstep songs, but I don't deny that there's a lot of crappy dubstep out there. Instead of sounding like music it's more like having somebody with bad breath scream in your face for a few minutes while repeatedly punching you in the gut.

Read this. Back when this was still fresh news and there were jimmies rustled everywhere, Verbose wrote it in response to Gigatoast. He makes some very convincing points as to why it was a good thing to change Derpy.

While anybody who knows a lot about internet culture would know that 'Derp' usually isn't a slur against the mentally handicapped, a child or parent watching the show would not know that. They'd see a pony with a strange voice and wall-eyes acting a little slow, and since 'Derpy' sounds like a slur (kinda like saying 'duh' when insulting someone's intelligence) they might see it as a joke about the mentally disabled. I know people argue against this by saying, "we should be allowed to make jokes, this is political correctness gone mad!", but try to put yourself in their position. If you or your child was mentally handicapped, and you perceived that scene as being an attack on such people, you'd have every right to be offended. Obviously some people were offended, since Hasbro received enough complaints to warrant a change to the scene. They probably could have just changed her name, but I guess they changed her voice and eyes too just to be sure they fixed the problem.

Also, you have to read the email on this page from Amy-Keating Rogers, the writer for the Derpy scene. If you're still a little pissed off over Derpy's portrayal, then please read the whole email. Here's a short section of the email that explains why they felt they should change her:

"But then when I did more in-depth searches, I discovered that one definition is “retarded.”
Now, you have to realize that reading that made my heart sink. My son Soren (of Soarin’ fame) is severely disabled. We do not use the word “retarded” in our house because it really has become an offensive slur. And while I knew that it was only a minority of people that defined “derpy” this way, it still upset me that I was the writer that put that name out there. It was painfully ironic and goes against the fact that I’m an advocate for the disabled."

Later in the email, she explains the solutions they'd considered, and that she was aware that she would offend some fans. And you know what? She wasn't happy with that fact. This wasn't an easy decision for them to make.

So, it's fair to say that Hasbro had good reasons to change the character. I wouldn't say they 'slapped us in the face', but they definitely could have handled the situation better. The email I linked above is a perfect way of handling a situation like this: somebody directly linked to the problem at hand contacted the fans directly to explain the situation and the reasons behind their actions. The problem with the Derpy controversy was that Hasbro kept us in the dark for too long, making changes behind the scenes without ever letting us know why they doing such things. That's the only thing I think they did wrong. As much as I liked the old Derpy more, I think it was a good thing that they changed her. We can still watch the original version on YouTube, and fandom depictions of Derpy are still intact, so it's not like we've really lost anything.

Call me crazy, but I don't think that essay that verbose wrote will change his opinion on the subject( didn't change mine).I don't think we have to get everyone to agree that Derpy getting changed was a good. Dont get me wrong, it's well written, but it's his opinion and I think we are all entitled to our own opinion. Still, the subject shouldnt be brought up anymore really.
For the record, I agree that on a business standpoint that was the best course of action, but people need to calm down and not get offense so easily. I don't really care though.

We got Derpy in an episode because Hasbro loves us and wanted to return something to us. If the episode was never released we wouldn't even care. We would never be aware of Derpy becoming canon. We might be asking for it, but we wouldn't bother with it if it didn't happen. And now that Hasbro gave us a canon fan-made character, you people are still busy with your goddamn complaining.

If you check out all the points like in Verbose's document, you'll see they had perfect reasons to change it.

Derpy doesn't even have a voice in fanworks. And if she gets one in an animation, it's almost never the same voice. As it's a fan giving her the voice. So how the fuck can a voice for a fanon character rustle you this much?

Can't you just be happy Derpy is still in the episode? That they didn't had to remove the complete scene forever, only to never be seen again?

If you actually read the email I posted, you'll see that Hasbro had their reasons for changing Derpy. I'm not thrilled by the change, but I respect their decision, and I won't go around whining about it until they change it back. That will only serve to worsen the reputation of our fandom.
