If so, might make that my second, have something else my holdover until I can manage GIMP enough to pull that off (shouldn't take too long).

Here's a thing:

@Rainbows (Get used to people shortening your name. Just makes it easier to type out.)

Welcome aboard.
Check your sanity at the door.

@Gamer Luna
I really want to say that Gamer Luna was not actually started by John Joseco and the Molestia tumblr because I'm like 95% certain I remember seeing a few examples before he picked up the idea and really made it popular.
Unfortunately, with Depibooru still dead, I'm currently cut off from my primary image research and acquisition resource so I cannot be completely sure.
At least we know how Luna uses Celestia's TV dimension.

@Squishy Ponies

Yeah, same question as BSoD here…
What are they?
What are they made of?
What does 'Squishy Fashion Fun' even mean?
So many questions!
(They do look like an eerie mix of cute and creepy, though.)

@Stunthead
If I had to guess, I'd say that it's at least partially down to the fact that neither of us have an overly prominent OC and we both have Scootaloo avatars.
That would just get confusing…

Tara's an odd one, ain't she?

@Deadparrot

In that Luna TV image, does she have a Twilight Sparkle-themed controller? My shipping senses are tingling all over.

Also, that's yet another page. We seem to have stepped things up a bit.

So I've been watching some good old episodes of Death Battle, and I wonder, do you agree that Rainbow Dash would defeat Starscream?

It's like a law of the Universe that Starscream lose all the time. Fuck, I would agree that anyone in this thread can beat Starscream in 1v1 fight.

So, is anyone else curious as to what this “book series” actually involves? Because it might be good. Shall we play the speculation game?

It's a book series called "Pennyroyal’s Princess Boot Camp" that's been optioned by Reese Witherspoon

If this image is showing, then Derpibooru is up:

I guess that means it's back up. Can't upload anything right this moment, but they're working on it.

EDIT: Uploading is now possible.

Derpibooru's back?!

Finally I can give up all these silly hobbies I tried to pick up to pass the time while it was down!

@Platus
Look a bit closer there.
All of the controllers are pony-themed in that picture.
Luna keyboard, Celestia joystick, Twilight on the SNES, Applejack PSVita, Fluttershy with the Wii, Pinkie's 3DS, and Xbox 360controllers for Rarity and Rainbow Dash.
(Not sure why there are two of them and no PS3 controller, though…)
So sorry, but no shipping fuel… unless you're into that kind of thing, I guess.

And speaking of all the weird sexual stuff discussed in the last page, I think I might be watching history repeat itself here.

It doesn't even have to be a background pony or OC, you can do like I did and take a panel from a comic that made you laugh so hard you cried and crop it in. Then, six months later, spend twenty minutes in paint editing it to make Twilicorn.

Speaking of, I'm really surprised no one here's been freaked out by Tweyelicorn. I swear, I get at least two comments every time one of my stories update about how my avatar creeps someone out.

wrings hands Excellent. There's the USS Bluefifths, USS Bulletcaro, and now, the USS Stuntparrot. I will have a fleet action occur by the time everything's said and done.

OK, so when I began writing, I thought about how to split off each group of OCs. At first, it was gonna be like the first time, and just do one group/pairing each chapter. But that was too short for this one, so I decided to give each group their own section, with its own storyline (Yes, there are actual stories) and scenes. The first one consists of my OCs and Disturbed.

Chloe awoke to the sound of roosters from the nearby apple orchards crowing, and she opened her eyes slowly. She picked herself up, and looked around her room with half closed eyes. She yawned, stretched her forelegs, and swung her hind legs off the bed and onto her floor. She then stood on all fours, and trudged to her bathroom. I always hate doing this… she thought to herself as she approached the mirror. She saw her mane, long, thick, and a light shade of red, was still hanging partially in front of her left eye and behind her head, and she thought of how she should make herself angry today to bring the flame up, something she had to do at the risk of dying.

She pondered how she would do it this time. She then came up with her solution, and walk out of the bathroom. She brought her keys with her, and exited the house, locking the door behind her. She then tried to open the door, and it surprisingly did. Wait… I thought I locked it! she thought to herself, trying to fool her mind into believing she truly did. She inserted her key yet again, and heard the click yet again. She turned the knob, and the door opened yet again. She stood motionless, her blood boiling inside her. She gritted her teeth as she felt herself getting more and more furious. Finally, her mane, no longer dropping to the floor, caught on fire yet again, rising and dancing in the air. "F*cking door! Why won't you close!? Is it because you’re made of morning wood that you're too stiff to lock!?"

She then realized she was taking it a bit too far, and she calmed herself quickly by breathing in and out slowly. She then truly locked the door. She tried to enter, and was glad when she was denied access this time. Satisfied, she turned and trotted towards town center, having already planned on what she would do for today. She would first head to town hall to look for Fleece’s address, and then to Leon’s cottage to both apologize for yesterday and perhaps reschedule their night out for today.

She then stopped suddenly, and rolled her eyes, letting out a sigh as she did. Why am I not flying? she thought to herself. Immediately, she opened her wings out wide, took off from the ground, and flew at a cruising speed towards town hall.

She arrived in no time at all, and landed gently on the ground in front of the entrance. She closed her wings, stepped towards the door, and entered inside. She looked around the building, which was decorated with ornate marble columns, red velvet carpets, and beautiful, pink silk curtains which hung along the windows. She followed the red carpet towards a set of doors, knocked on them, and waited.

After a few moments, a coffee brown mare with a silver grey mane answered the door. “Hello, may I help you with something?” she asked.

“Hello to you as well, Mayor Mare. I hate to be a bother, but if it’s possible, I need to find the address of a ‘Fleece Dagger’ in Ponyville, please,” Chloe asked.

“No bother at all, dear! Allow me to look for it…” she said, walking away from Chloe and into the office. After a minute or so, the mayor came back out the door, and handed Chloe a sheet of paper with writing scribbled rather quickly onto it. "I hope that helps you!"

"Thank you very much, Miss Mare!" Chloe said gratefully. She left out the main door, sat on the steps to the hall, and read the paper. The address written on it read: 471 Clydesdale Ct. Chloe folded the paper, and placed it in her wings. Clydesdale Ct… that's near the apple orchards here in town… and my house.

Chloe then decided she would head there later, and began trotting to her next destination; Leon's home. She had felt a bit guilty for canceling her date with him yesterday, and wanted to make up for it today. She didn't need to trot far before she ended up in front of Leon's manor.

She waved her hoof over her flaming mane, stroking the fire a bit. She then took a deep breath, and knocked on the front door. She awkwardly swung her foreleg back and forth as she waited, wondering what she'd tell him when he came out.

After about three minutes with no answer, Chloe had enough. She knocked on the door louder, and waited still. With no answer yet again, she opened her wings, and flew up to the roof of the manor. She checked on the chimney, and found what she was looking for; a spare key. She took it, flew back down to where she was, inserted the key, and unlocked the door.

She opened the door widely, revealing the inside of the home to be dark and quiet, surprising her. She'd been to the manor before, and it was usually so lively and bright. A feeling of great uneasiness came over her, and she walked around the manor nervously, with only her mane to provide light. “Leon? Are you in here?” she called out, terror in her voice. She lowered her ears as she didn’t receive a response. She had turned into the main corridor, and as she did, she saw the only light other than her mane’s, dim and escaping through a small slit under the door of the room it came from.

That’s Leon’s bedroom… Chloe remembered. She slowly approached the doorway, her heart beating in her lowered ears now. She reached it, and stood there, terrified. She realized she was sweating heavily, and she wiped her forehead to clear it out. She finally took a deep breath and reached her trembling hoof towards the door knob. She bit her lower lip as she did, and she barely touched the knob in her hoof. She jiggled it a bit before she got a firm grip on the handle, and slowly turned it open…

Eh… I don't like the character limits, but that's as much as I could post.

Missed the last 3~4 pages, 'cause our vacation park didn't have a working wifi.

@Mark
More stuff to read, good. Still need to finish your other stuff

@Jimmy
How did the RP go? If it returns on wednesday, I'll participate

I had my first brony meetup last saturday. It was great to see people with the same interest IRL.
There were roughly 80~100 people there, with music, karaoke stuff, a screencap contest, auction and a lot of talking with others.
Had a nice day, won a Burger King Fluttershy in a the screencap contest, so I expended my pony stuff collection with 33%
It's great to see elders react when you board a train with a group of about 15 others, some of them rather noisy, almost all with pony shirts, bags and other stuff. Two elderly people looked almost shocked when we stepped in.

Hey guys, people say I come up with a lot of great theories when I'm horribly incredibly tired. So I stood up all night and I just came up with the PERFECT theory…..What if……Bronies are all part of our imagination? Just think about it……I should go to bed, I have work in 5 hours.

Okay, just found the Google Docs document on the previous page, looking at the ideas right now. I don't have ideas myself at the moment, so I'll just put my name with colour in it, with the character I pick

Awesome to know that you're in. Remember, Octavia is pretty much the blue oni to Ace and Vinyl's red. That, and they're a little more than best friends…

Speaking of roleplay, I think we'll do it every other day as opposed to just Saturday and Wednesday, starting tomorrow, so look for it tomorrow.

@Jimmy
Okay, sounds good.
My work'll get in the way for me though. It's almost always in the evening, with me being home between 21:45 and 22:30 Dutch time (which is 15:45 amd 16:30 EST), so I probably can't join everytime.

Oh that reminds me, I also had my first brony meetup on Saturday. It was a small convention, but alot of people did show up. I got to meet some celebrities like Sherry Bourlon (White Dove) and Sam Vincent (the voice of Flim). I had a fun time and I bought some stuff

I got some art (my favorite is the crazy ponies), seven comic books, some pony blindbags on keychains, and a Flim Flam card signed by Sam Vincent. I think this increased my pony collection about 300%.

1. Firstly, I'd like to quickly thank all those who welcomed me to the thread after I made my post yesterday. I do appreciate and value the sentiment.

2. On the topic of pony merchandise and stuff, it's sort of funny: I don't PERSONALLY own any pony-related merchandise, but due in part to my younger sisters (both avid fans of the show) and in part to my eldest brother (brony; originally convinced me to watch the show), there actually is a lot of pony merchandise in my house. Everything from comic issues to DVDs to a few plushies and posters. So, I guess it could be said that I indirectly have a pony collection…

(No "squishy ponies" yet though. That design is sort of endearing in an off-putting way, but I can't quite put my finger on how…)

3. About conventions: I've never been to any sort of gathering amongst fans of the show, but I know that my cousin went to some convention (I think it was Everfree Northwest or one of the cons up in that area) once and that my brother wants to go to one. I think I might like meeting some of the people that make the show happen or some of the more popular members of the community, but I don't like large meetups most of the time. Still, if he asks me to come along…

4. I don't care much about ships in general; in fact, depending on the pairing, some shipping can actually be pretty funny. It's only made more so when the more ridiculous ships are completely serious.

I don't really care for risqué/sexualized content in general, though, but that's just me. I have yet to see a compelling argument against that kind of stuff (in the form of My Little Pony art, no less).

@Disturbed
That stuff is pretty cool. I really like the Luna & Scootaloo art. Where I went too, was really more of a meet-up, with people from all over the Netherlands. I wanted to buy some stuff at the auction (mostly a brony bag thing from WeLoveFine), but most of the stuff went out for pretty high prices, with some people spending 200+ euros. Oh well, I like the BK Fluttershy I won, and my Vinyl Scratch shirt should arrive tomorrow.

How would that make sense? You've got conventions. You've got millions upon millions of fanart, fanfics, and the like. You have references to the fandom in the show. How in the name of Holy Celestia, Goddess of the Sun could bronies all be a part of our imaginations?

The "bronies are imaginary" thing actually reminds me of a story about the origin of the fandom:

So, back when I still browsed 4chan's /co/ board regularly, the fandom formed within small thread factions and began receiving visible growth pretty quickly. For a time, I thought this was just an elaborate troll plan that had been worked out in advance in an IRC channel or something, to get moot to create the oddest board possible: a board dedicated to My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. With the immediate explosion of pony content on some of the site's biggest areas, the spread seemed much more forced than genuine at the time, to the casual onlooker.* It was around late 2010 when the fan sites started popping up (Derpy Hooves News was the first one I was aware of) that I realized that the fandom was (on the whole) actually serious, and I started following the fan community much later after I watched the show for the first time with my brother. Frankly, I'm much more glad that the fans were/are serious, because I do marvel at what the fandom has become.

  • Of course, that may be because there actually were people who would spam pony stuff just to annoy those who didn't like them. So, in fairness, there was SOME pony forcing during the fandom's creation.

@Crazy theories.

I still subscribe to the theory that "The Zam" was actually Brian Goldner, President and CEO of Hasbro, who was engaging in an elaborate Batman Gambit that succeeded wildly.

Yah, so next time you get mad at someone for using the "le" prefix, remember that it was the base on which this entire fandom was built.

@Rainbows
Hello. Sorry I didn't say that earlier. It's just that sometimes we get new users who introduce themselves and then never post again. Thanks for sticking with us this long.

@Starscram
What would happen if Starscream fought against himself?

@Disturbed

Now picturing two Starscreams firing at the walls behind each other for hours until they run out of ammo and then decide to spend the rest of the time agreeing that Megatron is a weakling and complimenting each others fantastic leadership skills

@Starscream vs. Starscream: They both lose.

My computer has what is supposed to be the fastest fucking internet connection on the market attached to it. There's one teensy little problem… IT. WILL. NOT. FUCKING. WORK. MY. INTERNET. IS. AS. SLOW. AS. BALLS. I need help, and fast.

Okay, so I think I found the problem. Usually, the internet gets slower when KYM is in a tab, and even then, usually when I'm on PG, and ever then, it doesn't happen all the time. Still, /kym/ PG is by far the most connection-slowing thread on the entire internet. Shamefur dispray.

Remember how I said we'd be doing RP every other day? IT BEGINS.

@Jimmy Lethal: Blame the gifs, HD pictures and wall of texts. My internet sucks too but it doesn't take more than 5 minutes to load the whole thing (actually, it seems to be too much time). They internet modem broke a few days ago and I couldn't use for 30 secons before disconecting.

@Two Starscreams: I picture they would start to argue with each other but would go to something like "YOU KNOW WHAT I THINK? I think you are pretty elegant guy" "Well, comming from a handsome bot like you, that means something". And then they would just talk how they hate Megatron and how they would be better leaders…

OH RIGHT! Pony thread.

The first three episodes of MLP are on TV and it's my first time watching them in a while. I feel…..Nostalgic right now, which is strange considering I've only started watching this show back in 2011……WHAT HAS THIS SHOW DONE TO ME?!

Fun fact: my brother's actually a furry. Has a fursuit and everything. Try as I might, I've never really been able to understand why someone would spend three grand on a costume, go to a convention and talk to other people, when they can do that anyway without spending three grand on a fursuit.

But anyway, furries seem no different than any other fandom. That includes their "controversial" sections that were famously featured on the CSI episode "Fur and Loathing" (can you imagine the shitstorm that would develop if cloppers were on Law and Order?). Most furries just roll their eyes or laugh at that episode, just as I'm sure we would if cloppers were ever pushed into the spotlight.

Keeping this on-topic, apparently, MLP has invaded the furry fandom like the Borg invade the alpha quadrant, only it's been quite a bit more successful.

Maybe the fursuit is a sign of importance in their culture? Perhaps those who have the fursuit are among those who believe they are an animal trapped in a human body, and to show it, they – WHOA WHOA WHOA WAIT A MINUTE. Are you trying to get me to do some deep-ass wild mass guess shit about furries? Fuck no! I have better things to do with my time, like battle sharks with frickin' laser beams attached to their heads.

Also, as a topic, do you think bronies are a subculture of furries or not? I personally don't have that belief, seeing as ponies are different than what animals furries normally use (dog, cat, fox, wolf, etc.) and, well… I don't want to bash furries, but we (for the most part) are way more mature.

And let's talk about the fucking wolfaboos for kicks. Here, I even have this thing from a guy on deviantART. These guys are the most retarded fucking fandom since the Sonic fandom began it's dictatorship over dA before being usurped by the glorious Brony master race.

Anyway…

Jimmy Lethal Wrote:

I have great conflicting feelings here…

… On One hand I like wolves… And am not opposed to liking them, drawing them or whatever. Its okay. So I'm slightly Offended someone can even come up with the term Wolfaboo.

…On the Other hand…

"What?"

Just… What? All my What.

Its like ripping a Toenail off of the Furry Fandom (Which is okay by the way) and trying to pass it off as a Full fledged Fandom.

I Just… Don't even… Why is…

Someone please make my brain stop hurting.

Anyway…

I don’t want to bash furries, but we (for the most part) are way more mature.

Yep, Bronies are alot More Mature than Furries

Yeah honestly we're not more mature, in fact we're probably about as immature as any other extreme fandom. Remember my story about my first encounter with furries? Well, plenty of people have had those kinds of encounters (with hopefully less….ugh from my encounter) involving bronies as well. In that first video (the second half was removed for some reason) where after Bowling they all went to McDonald's where they kept singing the theme song to MLP inside the restaurant until they got kicked out, THEN decided to sing the Yaplap version (AKA the SCREAMING AT THE TOP OF YOUR FUCKING LUNGS version) of the MLP theme song right outside the restaurant.

Every fandom has their darkside and we're no exception either, there'll be furries and bronies who are more mature than the average Joe. But when you judge the fandom as a whole with all the "I'm going to Marry Twilight Sparkle", "You will like this show or get trolled!", and of course the "HOLY SHIT THEY GAVE TWILIGHT SPARKLE WINGS! BOYCOTT!!!!" bronies out there it makes you realize that this fandom can be just as bad as any other fandom out there that gets negative reception Except the Twitards and Beliebers, they can eat a fat dick. The one thing I'd say that would make us 'better' is the fact that Bronies are a lot more dedicated to the show (in both, good and bad ways)

@TSG

Try as I might, I’ve never really been able to understand why someone would spend three grand on a costume, go to a convention and talk to other people, when they can do that anyway without spending three grand on a fursuit.

Same reason why a Brony would spend three grand on a costume, go to a convention and talk to other people, when they can do that anyway without spending three grand on a fursuit.

Also the same reason why a Brony would spend so much on merchandise and cover their whole room with pink. It's all about expressing what you love. Any Furry would tell you that fursuiting is pretty much mascoting for the fandom and it works the same way for this fandom too. Remember that one Bronycon where a dude hit the dancefloor in a full on Derpy fursuit? That's what his plan was.

Keeping this on-topic, apparently, MLP has invaded the furry fandom like the Borg invade the alpha quadrant, only it’s been quite a bit more successful.

I was looking at the forum for a furry webcomic when MLP first started to spread. MLP caught on very quickly with people there. Right from the very beginning, some Furries started making MLP fanart and impressions of MLP were overall positive among the Furry boards that I lurked. This was before 'Brony' was a fully defined term

That's why I hate the fuck out of Bronies who attack Furries. Those morons don't know that the Furry fandom actually played a hand in the start of the Brony fandom because there was a lot of interest in it at first. There are many Bronies that came from the Furry fandom and are still in both. (That and people who obsess over ponies are no position to judge people who obsess over every other cartoon character)

You see, cute fluffy ponies appeal to Furries as much as any other critter would. Regard that the characters in MLP still fit under the definition of anthropomorphism. So it's really not a big surprise to see both Fandoms intersect

Though the 'loud minority' would have you think that Furries and Bronies don't get along. The reality is that both fandoms are quite compatible with each other and have evolved convergently due to the similar contexts. This is why both fandoms have:

  • Fursuiters
  • Plush makers
  • Conventions
  • Haters
  • Fetishes
  • Their own unique category of porn
  • Forums and imageboards
  • Artists

The only thing separating the two fandoms is the subject: One of them only concerns itself with one TV show and it's content specifically. While the other considers anthropomorphism in general. That and the Furry fandom has a larger contingent of LGBT while the MLP fandom is mostly Hetero so the fan produce has a slightly different appeal (IE: MLP fandom has more boobs). Everything else about the fandoms are almost indistinguishable to outsider perspectives. That brings me to Jimmies comment…

@Jimmy

Also, as a topic, do you think bronies are a subculture of furries or not? I personally don’t have that belief, seeing as ponies are different than what animals furries normally use (dog, cat, fox, wolf, etc.)

No, they aren't. Because despite how similar the two fandoms are, the undisputable fact is that they cover different subjects.

Bronies are all about a TV show featuring the 4th Generation of MLP. Furries are all about the art of anthropomorphism.

There is a slight overlap in those subjects (the anthro part), but not enough to be related to each other. Therefore Bronies are not Furries. Furthermore, being a subculture of the Furry fandom implies that the Brony fandom split off from it. It didn't. It spawned independently on /co/ which is a distinctly non-furry board. The Furry fandom had no influence on the creation of the MLP fandom back in that time.

To this current date, the Brony fandom is somewhat influenced by the Furry fandom in terms of fan artwork (we can see that we make a lot of anthro ponies ourselves). But that came later. For the most part, the Brony fandom developed no differently from any other fandom.

and, well… I don’t want to bash furries, but we (for the most part) are way more mature.

Hahahahaha….no

Really, it's the same reason why someone spends a few mil on a Ferrari when they can get around just fine with a four-grand beater from a used car lot: vast and untapped quantities of poon.

Hey, guys!
How's it…

Furry bashing

This again?
Well, at least BSoD already made the lion's share of my points for me so I won't bother reiterating.
Overall, though:

Trying to claim that our fandom is more 'mature' than another (as ridiculous as that generalization would be in application to any fandom) takes on its own level of silliness in a group of people who have become obsessed with a cartoon literally intended for little girls.
To most outside observers, we're pretty much the pinnacle of immaturity.

But, as has been repeated ad nauseum, that's par for the course in pretty much any fandom.
We're nerds, geeks, dorks, and weirdos who have latched onto particular interests that we love.
These back-and-forth smear campaigns over which vaguely affiliated group of people is better than some other vaguely affiliated group of people just needs to stop.
It's pointless and mindless hostility based on generalizations that can never hold true.
In any large group of people, even those that share an interest, differences will exist.
Some will be jerks, others will be cool.
Now, you could go about trying to make an argument about the large-scale ratios of assholes to cool guys and base a 'this fandom is better than that fandom' on that, but what purpose does that serve?
No fandom is going to be monolithic in behavior or demeanor.
Assuming that someone who identifies with some show or character must inherently possess certain traits is simply prejudicial and prone to wild oversimplification.
(As the old saying goes, when you ASSUME, you make an ASS of U and ME!)
Can we not just decide to like or dislike someone based on their actual individual actions and not which TV show they happen to like?

In case you haven't noticed, I've been trying to keep this pretty general so that it can apply to any fandom-on-fandom bickering.
Basically, while the concept of bronies being an offshoot of furries can be an interesting thing to think about, in the end, it shouldn't make any difference in terms of how the groups treat one another.
You don't owe furries the benefit of the doubt because their interests have parallels to your own or because they may have had a hand in creating your fandom.
You owe furries the benefit of the doubt because they are people.
I'm not saying that you have to love or even like everyone as that is simply impossible, but being willing to treat people as people and not representations of everything that person happens to like is something that a lot of people need help with.
And, perhaps ironically, mastering that level of tolerance would be a huge step toward actual 'maturity.'

Now shut up and put on your ears and tails!

We now return to our mature thread, already in progress:

Man, that's a lot of Rarity…
This post needs more down-and-dirty action before it becomes to prissy and clean.

(Exudes, try not to explode.)

@DP

You owe furries the benefit of the doubt because they are people.

That's probably the only thing I needed to say. There are lots of strange, weird fandoms out there but they all exist so people can have fun. People simply don't deserve to be ridiculed or generalised for wanting to have fun in them. No matter if they are Homestucks, Juggalo's or Otaku's. We are all part of the same internet culture of geeks and nerds, no better than the other.

But I also find it especially hypocritical when you mock other fandoms when your own fandom itself is mocked for the same reason. Treat others fandoms with the same grace you expect for yours. A certain J.H.Christ had a parable about that.

So I think my other statements also had a point

Sorry for the page's sudden turn to serious TL;DR's. As you can see I have some strong feelings regarding how fandoms (all of them) should be treated. So even though I am not a furry, I'm often quick to defend them whenever I see people bashing them on this thread or in the MLP image gallery. Same goes for other fandoms
