In the Wake of this New page… And my complete Ignorance of my own Page Get…

…I begin The Page War with some Stake Claiming By The Most Under-Represented Race in Equestria.

Actually there's jack all in terms of Art, so this is probably going to be a very short lived Mark in this Page war isn't it?

…Unless someone takes that as a challenge to find good art.

(I'm digging my own hole aren't I?)

@Fluttershy's handedness (shut up, spellcheck says it's a word)

I think it's more a case of the animators not caring then it is an intentional thing. Although that does raise an interesting question for animation in general. How often is a character's handedness actually specifically addressed/indicated? I don't think I've ever really payed attention enough to notice

>inb4 I can't unnotice now

No…annoyed, actually, RM. Hard to lurk what with all of the sex talk you do. In fact, I’d probably say it’s odd how you, as a mod, pretty much stay off-topic on most of your posts. I just want to read about the show, your respective thoughts, and not your retorts to anything sexually-oriented for a few pages.

>Pony General VII

Do you even post?

But in all seriousness, I grow weary of the "show discussions" very quickly because so often they have nothing to do with canon and are merely headcanon debates. For instance, from a strictly canon perspective, we know nothing of the Night Guard. All this headcanon and fanfics could be wiped out by a causual reference to Luna using ordainary guards dressed up.

These debates will never actually be resolved (how often does one end with "let's agree to disagree" or some variant?) because headcanon can only be really changed by one thing: canon crushing it into a fine powder, and even then, the ride still doesn't end.

I can't tell you how often the anti-Twilicorn folks use the "she's an immortal goddess" or "she's so OP'd now that she's an alicorn" cards despite the fact that both of those are inventions of headcanon and have no bearing on what the show has actually shown. People's headcanon has actually ended up causing quite a bit of conflict when it doesn't mesh with the show itself. The "immortal god empress" headcanon has been dead since Celestia couldn't do shit to Discord back in Return of Harmony, but it still hasn't gone away.

So no, I actually prefer the silly, karma whoremongering (God, I love that word), >rape talk over the paragraphs of headcanon that'll never die no matter what canon says.

I know right? Who keeps letting her into Ponyville?!

@Pony handedness: Vinyl Scratch also confirmed for ambidextrous:

(I could've sworn this pic was on KYM but I dcan't find it…)
Also about the footedness thing, that would make sense but I've heard people saying you can be left or right-footed and they've asked me which I am. ಠ_ಠ

I also found an… interesting (weird, but I'm fairly certain it's totally safe) Birthday Game but not sure about posting it, since we've had a lot of those.

@CrashGordon 94
That pic indeed is on KYM, I've had it in my favourites since I've used it as my first avatar.

There you go.
About your footedness, you should receive an unexptected push sometime, and then remember which foot you used to stabilize yourself, as said in an earlier post.

@Lunar Protege

Bat pones?

Okay, yeah, so I only know of that one because it's a FiMFiction header image. The artist, Equestria-Prevails, has made quite a few decent images with them though.

I kinda wish they'd gotten more attention from the fanbase than they did. The complete lack of an explanation as to what they are or where they came from should have led to all kinds of interesting headcanons, but there's not much of it out there. Changelings on the other hand are still somehow finding their way into every second fanfic written, and I'm honestly getting bored of them.

So, err… note to artists and writers: More bats please.

@Handedness conversation

It actually wouldn't surprise me if the animators were given guidelines such as "Fluttershy should be left handed". That kind of thing can show up surprisingly often in animated shows. However, as some people mentioned earlier, it is animated in flash, and sometimes you can get a better shot by ignoring such rules. It would be interesting to see a tally of the amount of times each character uses each hoof, but really, who could be bothered to make something like that?

Last edited Aug 05, 2013 at 10:04AM EDT

Fun Fact: On average, left-handed people live nine years shorter than right-handed people. Poor Fluttershy.

@Bat Ponies: It would be cool for them to make a bat pony character, even if they're just a one-off. Why? Well… they're fucking bat ponies. Nothing else needs to be said.

@is flutters left handed

Left handedness actually seems to be a common trait among cartoon characters who are shy, awkward in personality and / or appearance.

I remember it being stated outright that chuckie was a lefty in the rugrats, and chris griffin from family guy, arnold from hey arnold and doug are apparently all left handed as well.

So personally, I wouldn't be suprised if flutters was also a lefty.

Also, I thought this little cartoon was fantastic.

@Left-handedness

Iamslow wrote:

An interesting note, considering the history of left-handedness.

Y'see, the left side has often been associated with evil. You can see this in the very language you speak. Right has connotations of truth, legality and good in general. While left by itself is an innocuous enough term, it being the opposite of right does conjure up some unfavourable implications, and many loanwords and linguistic relics point to a tarnished past. For example, the term sinister, besides it's primary meaning, also means "Of the left side" and is still used in that capacity in some circles, such as heraldry. The word originates form Latin and carried both meanings back then as well.

Adding to that are the myriad of folk wisdoms and superstitions on the matter. You throw salt over the left shoulder to ward off bad luck. Getting out of bed on the wrong side originally meant getting out of it left foot first. Witches greeted Satan with their left hand. Wedding rings are derived from a Greco-Roman habit of wearing rings on the left hand to ward off the evil associated with it. Even the Bible is in on this, containing over 100 favourable reference to the right hand and 25 unfavourable references to the left hand.

So, while this sort of bullshit has largely disappeared, we still see vestiges of it every now and then, as it's deeply embedded in our cultural subconscious. That makes it a handy visual short-hand for indicating that a character is a little off, an outcast or otherwise exceptional.

Oh, and in case you're wondering, no, I am not left-handed. And yes, I use that fact to fool my sparring partners all the time.

@ Handedness/ Footedness

Hello! I heard hands!
I myself am ambidextrous, so if I somehow cut off one of my hands in a failed attempt to grow hooves, I'd have no trouble using the other.

As for Footedness, people do indeed have a dominant and recessive foot as well.

Fun Fact: One leg is longer, albeit slightly, than the other. To determine the dominant, turn slowly in place a full 360 degrees clockwise and counter clockwise. Whichever direction has more resistance is the dominant leg.

@Bat ponies

There's actually quite a bit of headcanon about them. Everything from them being vamponies, over to my personal favorite (and the one that I'll be using in Regent), them being Equestria's Special Forces. Now if only there'd be a fanfic where they take the role of CP9 I could die happy. (God, that story arc is the best one One Piece has had. Can't wait until the Buster Call.)

Considering there is a new actor playing the Doctor in Doctor Who, I felt that he isn't a real doctor unless he has a Doctor Whooves Pony counter-part, so I through this together earlier today:

:

I only had 15 minuets originally to draw it during a break, and then I went over it in another extra 10 minuets I had. It was going to happen sooner or later, so I voted for sooner.. I didn’t have my tablet so I drew this with a mouse which is why the lines are slightly wibbly-wobbly.. I hate drawing with a mouse..

@Dr Whooves: I actually saw that in the KYM gallery today, reminds me of this one long video speculating on who/what the new Doctor guy might be.

@Bat ponies: …That's a real thing from the show? I thought it was some weird thing a fan made up like Fluffies or Chubbies!

Quick unrelated sidenote, I had chicken for both lunch and dinner today and now I feel kinda funny, I almost wonder if it's related but it probably isn't.

@Fluttershy is left hooved (again)

Fluttershy using her right hoof to hold a box.

Fluttershy using her right hoof to be assertive.

Fluttershy using her right hoof to give Cerberus a belly rub.

Fluttershy using her right hoof to hold a piece of paper.

Intentional? Probably not. Either way my head canon is that she is ambidextrous.

Stunthead wrote:

Remember when I posted this about two months ago? Probably not, considering I never actually got any suggestions, but that's okay, because I managed to think of things myself. See… I don't need you guys…

Actually, I DO need you guys. The radio show plan has been set, so now I'm moving on to scripting. However, in the meantime, I need something from YOU! That's right, YOU! READING THIS! Unless you don't want to, which is fine too, I guess.
So what do I need? Money Voice clips! That's right, I need a series of voice clips which explain, in one sentence, the thing that you love most about MLP / the thing that made you a fan. These voice clips will be used during the radio show to help explain the fandom to non-brony listners! Yes, it may be stupid and cheesy, but… shut up.
Anyway, if you feel like you'd be up for it, let me know (here or in a private message) and I'll tell you when and where to send in your voice clips (which may be a while seeing as first I need to make a private Email account that nobody else I know will be using. Yeah, you can see I planned this out well, can't you?)
Anyway, looking forward to hearing from you this time… and I'd BETTER hear from you this time.

Remember when I posted THIS about 3 days ago? If not, then… that makes me sad. Why does nobody remember me?

Look at that. You made Tiny Twi start crying, you monster. But don't worry, you can make it up to her. My new super-sexy Stunthead-only Email account has been set up. You can now send me your voice clips using the following:
stunthead@yahoo.co.nz

So far I have had two people volunteer, but if this is going to happen, I'm going to need a few more. Remember, I'm looking for voice clips of fans saying in one sentence what they love the most about the show or why they became a fan. Now, many of you may have doubts about getting into contact and sending voice-clips to a self proclaimed stalker. My response?

Look at Tiny Twi! LOOK AT HER!

But seriously, all personal info is safe with me, and I will only respond via PMs here on KYM.
Big thanks to all that take part, and sorry for interupting your discussion on hoofedness. Looking forward to hearing from you!

@Stunt, the reason why I never responded was because I don't own a mic for my computer (Don't believe in that shit, it's a computer, why do I need a Mic?) so that's why bitch pal.

Also I saw that Shady Vox animation with Jan (whatever his Youtube name is) and….it was alright. Mainly only liked the burning train, altogether it's just like another Fanimation for MLP to me, just another fanimation. At least it was still better than Double Rainboom.

Bruno the Rustler wrote:

Look what you've done! She got scared of people telling which hand she should use, that she is only using her wings now!

Could be worse, she could be like Twilight and use both…

Blue Screen (of Death) wrote:

I am not deliberately ignoring the fact that ponies do indeed use the hoof that’s most convenient for the animator

That pretty much sums of pony hoof-edness as far as representation in the show goes. Generally, I try to make sure the hoof-moving action occurs on the far side of the body, because it lets me be lazier, stretch limbs farther and have more awkward bends at the joints without anyone noticing.

However, I would believe that these particular ponies have a preference in their hooves. I just imagine them as so heavily anthropomorphized that they're basically just humans walking on all fours at this point, albeit with manes and tails and such.

@Stunt

I'll contribute something. When there's no one around to hear me scream explain why I love My Little Pony in a single sentence.

Oh hey, Super Smash Ponies finally posted the Rarity trailer, which means the public finally gets to see some of the high-quality animations I contributed. It doesn't look as bad as I had expected once it's played at full speed, but most of the animations will get a bit more polish before the final release. I have no idea where the project leads expect the animators to find that kind of time.

Hoofedness all comes down to a pony's preference during the really important stuff.
For example…

Rainbow Dash is right-hoofed.

As for Fluttershy, maybe her handedness would be more important if she
ever
actually
caught
a single
damn
thing!

The one I posted in the gallery is slightly different, since I didn't think it looked right so I edited it to have slightly more Flim-Flam brother proportions since the 12th Doctor is quite tall and skinny,

Fair enough, then, that makes sense.

As is the case with most fanon, the fandom took a small scene from the show (from Luna Eclipsed)

and created an entire headcanon about them. We don't even know if they're actually separate, or just normal Royal Guard who got dressed up.

@Stunthead
Sadly, I lack a mic and so cannot provide any help.

@vintiezre, ExudesAffluence, (and from before, Mike, bioniclebrony? and possibly markhaox14)
Hooray! You make Tiny Twi happy.

Thanks for the help. Send them over as soon as you're ready, I'll PM you once I get them.

…You guys aren't doing a very good job of getting your names off my list…
But seriously, I understand that not everybody wants to or can help me out with this. Thanks for taking the time to respond anyway.

I'll shut up about this now.

@Stunthead
I sent you my voice clip (it's weird to hear myself like this, listening to the clip). I hope it helps you.

@New fanimations and FIW 9
I liked all of the new videos posted here, though Button's voice needs some getting used to.
Was there no new song in FIW, or was it just the youtube version that had none?

@This Fluttershy Thread
Well, with all of this talk about her, I guess I should show off something.

Well, I don't really buy much MLP merchandise like the rest of the bronies, and I bought it for $15.

And here's baby Fluttershy:

Last edited Aug 06, 2013 at 09:03AM EDT

@bioniclebrony?
Those vinyl figures look really great. Haven't seen them yet in the Netherlands though.
The only merch, besides my two t-shirts, are a Fluttershy burger king figure I won at the larger meeting a week ago, and two blindbags I bought sunday, at a small meeting with a couple of other bronies.

Also, those baby pony's eyes, I can't get used to those inside-out pupils. So, filly Fluttershy

Fluttershy thread?

@Mike: A lot of people agree with you about the baby dot-eyes, leading to edits like this:

One Bat Pony guard shows up in the comic to attend to Luna while she's competing. I don't think it's just a costume, or non-canon, considering Price and Cook have to run everything by Hasbro and the showrunners before they get the go-ahead on the comic.

I think bat ponies are a different species. There are things like their irises (which are more like cat eyes) and the extra tuft of fur on their ears that separate them from normal ponies. The bat wings do look authentic, because a normal pegasus couldn't fit their wings in a pair of fake ones. They're too skinny.

@Fluttershy's handedness:

She's ambidextrous, everybody shut up now.

Chloe immediately felt much better after leaving the weather station, and knew she would be able to save her family’s prized possession. She opened her wings, flapped them, and took off from the cloud towards the north. But something still bothered her heavily. She didn’t know what it was that kept on tugging at her, and she couldn’t explain why. She ignored it for the time being, thinking doing something productive will take her mind off it.
She then flew until she spotted what she was looking for; fluffy, white clouds. She smiled as she saw them, and took her time getting over to where they were. Cloud’s right… I need to relax more… especially at work.
She arrived at the clouds, and rather than round them up immediately, she dove into them excitedly. She then popped her head out of the top layer, and giggled a bit to herself. She began taking a swim inside the puffy layer, back stroking through the white. Ahh… this is it… this is the life! If I knew work could be like this everyday, then I’d have quit from the Inn much sooner. She continued slowly flowing in the soothing, supple feel of the clouds, and basking in the enlightening, hearty warmth of the summer sky.
After about fifteen minutes of a relaxing swim, Chloe flew gently out of the clouds, and finally began to round them together to bring back to Ponyville. She was about to take the large bundle with her, when all of a sudden a surge of light whisked past, causing her to spin in the air.
"Well, well, well. If it isn't Miss Hothead…" a familiar voice rang in Chloe's ears. Chloe turned to the origin of the voice, and glared in anger as she saw the pony; Rainbow Dash.
"You sure have a bad habit of popping out of nowhere, Skittles," Chloe struck back. That remark got Rainbow's attention, and she immediately flew to where Chloe was.
"Oh, you think you're better than me, huh? Is that it? Cause I can tell you right now you wouldn't stand a chance against me in a race!" Rainbow boasted.
"You sure are a lot of talk… Dashie…" Chloe said with a sneer. This angered Rainbow even more, and she began to turn red in anger.
"Gah! No one calls me that and gets away with it! How about we go now, hothead!? One race…" Rainbow said as she neared Chloe's cloud bundle. "First one to take their part of this bundle to Ponyville wins! You game, or you chicken?" Rainbow said with a sneer. She placed her forelegs on her hips, and flapped them as a chicken would to intimidate Chloe.
Chloe wasn't intimidated in the slightest by this Pegasus, and she grinned widely. "Fine… one race… to Ponyville. I'll show you who the better flier is," Chloe challenged. Rainbow laughed at hearing this, and immediately split the cloud into two equal halves. She kicked one to Chloe and kept the other.
"I'll show you who the better flier is…" Rainbow muttered to herself. They both hovered in the air next to each other, holding their respective bundle. "Ready?" Rainbow asked impatiently. Chloe simply nodded. "One two three go!" Rainbow announced quickly, and she immediately took off with a streak of rainbow behind her.
Rather than actually race her, Chloe simply cruised her way back to Ponyville, smiling widely at cleverly fooling Rainbow into not only leaving her alone, but taking a part of her bundle as well. She surely is faster… but like I said… I'm the better flier. Chloe then took a slow but relaxing flight back towards Ponyville.

Back in the airspace of Ponyville, Chloe began to dot the sky with small, cozy specks of cloud puffs here and there. She hadn't seen Rainbow yet, which was good enough for her. She finally finished spreading all of the cloud from her bundle, and she smiled as she checked her task off the clipboard.
She then turned back towards Cloudsdale, and began to go on her way. "Hey! Where were you at?" Rainbow asked cockily.
Chloe groaned, and turned around. "Lost…" she told Dash.
Rainbow Dash laughed happily, and approached Chloe. "Well, I can't say I didn't tell you so… but at least you put up a good race. You're not mad… are you?" she asked sincerely.
"Not at all. I'm just glad I finished my shift for today," Chloe replied.
Rainbow grinned widely. "Good! Maybe we can have another race when you're not too busy… does that sound good, hothead?"
Chloe sighed, and thought it over. She's a stubborn one… but maybe, just maybe, I can show this filly up! "You know what? That sounds good, Rainbow. But just know one thing… my name's Chloe, not hothead… got that?"
Rainbow saluted, and then flew with Chloe towards Cloudsdale.

Both Pegasi had left the station after dropping off the weather report, and Chloe had received her pay of the day. "Huh… I thought you get paid at the end of the month," Chloe commented.
"Nah… they'll never be that unreliable. They pay you for each job you do!" Rainbow explained happily.
"That explains why it was only fifty bits today. Wow… this weather control business is pretty great!" Chloe admitted.
"Yeah… it's the best! And the best part is that there's always something to do!" Rainbow said. She then yawned loudly, and then turned to Ponyville. "Well… I'm gonna hit the hay. See you tomorrow, hot… I mean… Chloe," she corrected herself, and waved goodbye.
Chloe waved back, and turned to her home. Well… it's still the middle of the day… what is there to do? She continued thinking to herself, but something bugged her constantly.
There really isn't anything to do… I can't think of anything. She then flew back to her home, deep in thought. She landed in front of her door, but did not enter. Cloud's right… I need to relax more. Where do I relax though? Home isn't exactly my idea of comfort… just a place I can sleep…

@Fluttershy's handedness:

She's ambidextrous, everybody shut up now.

You Know, We could put this Theory more Verbosely, and explain it in more detail for Greater Clarity.

Also, you probably mean they are a separate Sub-Species, since I imagine they can probably still interbreed with the other kinds of Pony. As Wiki-Pedia would Describe it.

Organisms that belong to different subspecies of the same species are capable of interbreeding and producing fertile offspring, but they often do not interbreed in nature due to geographic isolation or other factors.

The differences between subspecies are usually less distinct than the differences between species. The characteristics attributed to subspecies generally have evolved as a result of geographical distribution or isolation.

Now for Clarification, That makes all Ponies the Same Species, but our Three Main Ponies being listed in the Same Subspecies separate from the Bat Ponies.

As for how Pegasi, Earth Ponies and Unicorns differ, that may be classified as either Races, Morphs, or Breeds within the same Sub Species. Depending on how you want to frame it. However as it relates mostly to Phenotype, Race would be a fair Description.

Now, a good elaboration on their existence is that they may have split off from Pegasi to become a separate sub-species at some point in the distant past, and their adaptions come from living in a Darkness Rich Environment. As a lot of Subspecies come about via separation from the other related Sub Species for an Extended period of time.

One Probable Candidate for such a Location is the one place already associated with Luna: The Moon. However, this is Speculation, and it may be possible to pinpoint several possible isolated areas they may have seen fit to grow up in. Such as Hollow Shades. However, that may be more of a Colony than their location of Origin.

And for all you still going on about Fluttershy…

Huh-Wha?!

Did I miss a troll spam attack?
Aww…
We haven't had one of those in a long time.
Anyone who happened to see it want to give a quick summary for those who missed out?
Just wondering what angle they took: gay, man-children, too many crossovers, etc.

Ponibooru is coming back from the dead to share more art?

Actually, I'm kind of indifferent at this point.
I mean, I loved Ponibooru back when it was the major pony image site, but it had quite a lot of problems even at the height of its popularity.
It was pretty unstable and crashed way too often, not to mention the frequent troll spam that, due to a lack of serious moderation, was never cleaned up.
Derpibooru, in my opinion, is an all-around better site that has taken over in Ponibooru's absence and easily surpassed it in terms of quality.
Unless Ponibooru is resurrected with at least Derpibooru's level of functionality (and more if it intends to usurp the new king), I can't really see a case for bringing it back outside of sentimentality for the name.

Ponies are teaching math now!

There seems to be an influx of spambots at the moment. Must be breeding season.

I just wiped out 10 spam threads. I can't seem to play BL2 for more than 2 hours without the whole entire forum filling up with spam. Goddammit
