It's official folks. Every best pone argument in history is now finally over.

We have democratically settled who pest pone is, and that pone is Fluttershy. From now on, when people ask who best pone is, we know exactly what answer to give.

To all the Twifags:

HA HA HA HA HA HA

Now that I think about it fluttershy is probably my third favorite of the mane 6. She's just too fuggen cute to rank below that halfway point, you know?

@Fluttershy Victory

I guess I'll be the horrible kill joy here.

The poll really isn't accurate.

Now, before someone accuses me of butthurt or the like: I mean that one single really bored person could actually upset the poll quite easily. The entire thing was run in java, and only checked your cookies before loading the original vote and questionnaire. If you were to open up 20 windows before casting your original vote, you could vote another 19 times, or cast another 209 votes if you prefer. It'd be tedious, but doable.

You may ask, "Well what difference does that matter in the end? There were still tens of thousands of votes."

Well, if you add up an extra 19 ballots (209 votes) each day for just 30 days, that was an extra 6270 votes for one pony. Have two people do it, and it jumps to 12,540, and so on.

Of course, everyone would be too honest to do such a thing. Just look at our last poll here…

o_o

[end commentary]

I guess because of the possibility of voter fraud, I'll just post Honesty Pony instead.

Umm……we all knew that already man……Remember when Rarity was winning at first? No doubt because a lot of people were spamvoting for Rarity but got bored halfway through and just stopped. The easily rigged poll isn't exactly news anywhere to anyone who actually voted (Hell, I had 60 votes for every pony each.)

@Oprah: Okay, definitely fair enough. Could've done without the insults though…

>AJ’s voice
>Not Pinkie’s or Rarity’s

Do you even get annoyed?

Honestly, I thought that about Pinkie for quite a while now. Didn't mention it because it wasn't new for me.
As for Rarity, still not really sure.
I do have thoughts on least favourite ponies… Honestly, that's something else I want to come clean about but I feel it will be a sensitive issue, so spoiler box.

Pinkie Pie
Fluttershy
Princess Luna
Vinyl Scratch
If OCs count, Milky Way too
Applejack and/or Rarity might end up here, not really sure until I actually watch the show.
Don’t worry, you won’t know true agony until you hear Babs Seed.

@FATALITY, FLUTTERSHY WINS:
If you opened the box above, you'll be able to guess how I feel about that. Otherwise I'll just leave this here:

And to contribute properly to her thread:

@Crazy

Yes the poll was rigged, absolutely. Bronies rig every damn poll they get their hands on. However I think it still counts anyway because I know that the poll was rigged in all directions.

There would likely have been rarifags, flutterfags, dashfag, applefags, ponkafags and twifags ALL attempting to rig the poll in some kind of rigging-war towards their own end. The outcome of such a game of rigging tug-of-war could only come in favor of the party that was most numerous, dedicated and passionate to the cause

If people care about Fluttershy the most to rig her above all the other riggers, maybe she does deserve the win.

I didn't say it was exactly new information, but this seems a little odd for a likely rigged poll in this thread, where everyone threw a fit at a much smaller rigged poll.

Whatever. Sorry for bringing it up.

As long as we at least agree that all ponies are worst pony.

Seriously losers, why do you even watch a show for little girls?

But i don't.. I am just enjoying the bandwagon.
.

I am deadly serious.

Me too. I've only ever seen the first three seasons.

So, since Equestria Girls was on I decided to watch it and I was thinking. What if all these background….humans end up getting ponified in Season 4? Would kind of explain why not all the Humans in the background weren't Humanized versions of Lyra, Colgate or whatever the fuck her canon name is anymore, Octavia, Bon Bon, Twist, Pipsqueek, Applejack, Doctor Whooves Etc. Etc. I mean Hasbro's no stranger to making new characters to sell toys (Transformers fans know…..much too well after the original Transformers movie….) and since more Background characters have been finding their way in official MLP Merchandise and Hasbro probably thinks that if they make more background ponies Bronies will immediately love them, make backgrounds for them and eventually release toys of said characters as well. You never know with these companies anymore man.

Or they just didn't want the Background of Equestria Girls to be one never ending Circle Jerk by having every background pony doing stuff the Fandom deems they do instead of just one or two ponies (Vinyl and Derpy of course.)

Also, after watching Equestria Girls again I think I liked it a lot more than last time considering well, I started watching the show for the characters and the interesting writing and not just because they were ponies. So I guess I was able to accept it better considering the show could've been My Little Gargoyle and I still would've loved it if they kept the same interesting characters and writing. I know it's a Shameless Cashgrab for sure but as far as Shameless Cashgrabs go it's definitely one of the better ones.

But man seriously, whose idea was it to make a 'Best pony' poll and have the most exploitable voting system ever? I mean I don't even think it's much of an 'exploit' as they basically say "You can vote 10 times for the same pony everyday!" Geez, 4Chan didn't even need to get spambots to spamvote because you could just spamvote it yourself. Speaking of which Imma go to 4Chan to check out any potential shitstorms.

No. Stop right there. This is a serious offense of fandom law and you are to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the Equestrian Law.

Yes, This is the Opinion Police. What seems to be the problem? He doesn't like your favorite pony? Sir, this is a serious business here. We don't consider 'favorite and least favorite ponies' to be arrest worthy honestly. You might have better luck calling the Butthurt Police, they specialize in this kind of situation now good day. Hang up phone Son of a bitch, that's the 22nd person to call today after that Best Pony vote on the Hub.

EDIT: Oh and for those who didn't watch the Equestria Girls Broadcast on The Hub today, well if these were your favorite scenes in the movie it might be a good thing you missed it.

Also, they're playing The Equestria Girls (The Katy Perry parody that happens to be better than the original song) in the commercial breaks……So……much……Nostalgia.

It's possible to do an Alicorn OC well (Nyx, from Past Sins, is generally done pretty well) but yeah, most aren't too good. The problem is mainly due to them being self inserts half the time, I'm pretty sure.

This.

So what you're saying is, Flutterfags have the largest neckbeards and Twifags are too busy holding intellectual conversations that lead to a better fandom than to bother with an internet poll. I'd agree with that statement (because it's true, I stopped voting for Twilight when I realized I had better things to do than vote on an internet poll every night).

Man, I wanted Twilicorn to win, not because she's my favorite (even though she is), but because the shitstorm /mlp/ would have produced over Hasjew's vote rigging would have made my weekend.

I-I think I'm addicted to shitstorms. I just can't get enough of them and pass my time trying to survive until I can get my next fix.

On a more serious note, I kinda figured he might respond as such, I'm slightly surprised nobody else really did but perhaps I shouldn't be.
Though in any case, that's why I spoilered it and didn't go into too much detail.

You and Kewln00b obviously didn't get the satire. Luna, Vinyl, and Fluttershy are jokingly considered to be everyone's favorite pony. (RD is for the annoying super-bronies.)

@Alicorn OCs: ORIGINAL CHARACTER DONUT STEEL

For the uninitiated, it seems that MLP is a big hit with the Fire Nation.
Prince Zuko is selling shirts (<ahref="http://rufioink.bigcartel.com/">HERE) and his sister Azula (voice actress Grey DeLisle) is a delightfully insane Derpy.
What a sudden and entertaining blitz of VA endorsements!

And in other 'TV show crossovers bleeding into real life' news:

That right there is the actor who played The Observer (well, the main one) on Fringe locating his pony-self in Andy Price's comic book!
Seems the Observer has become the… Ob… server…
Hmm…
Whatever, it's cool!

Absolutely

Hate to intrude on these discussions of best pony, poll rigging and VA endorsements, but I just want to take a moment to rekindle a bit of interest in that /kym/ Pony General Roleplay from ages ago. Not a lot of progress has been made and I'm pretty eger to get it started, so if you are (or want to be) involved, please drop in and join the discussion. If not…

Also…..Do you even Alicorn OC? Need I bring back Killgore the Alicorn?!

Too late, already brought him back. Donut Steel this Jimmy!

@Deadparrot, I just watched that. I'm glad to finally see where Grey DeLisle's 'I'm going to be voicing a famous grey and yellow pony' tweet finally comes into play and you know what? I am 1 minute in and I already like it more than any other Pony animation out there. Sorry Tabitha but right now Grey's Derpy voice is my personal head canon………unless you come back to voice Derpy and show off more of your Tabitha awesomeness! No? Okay…..

Oh boy I completely forgot about that. Color me uneducated about where that whole thing has gone at this point. I need someone to give me a straightforward idea of what's being roleplayed so far before I could just add to it.

Markhaox was the leader of that project (I think) where is she now?

My general opinion of "Alicorn OCs" is to write every bit of the story of their existence that happens before they become an Alicorn before you even consider writing the bit of the story of them as an Alicorn.

The reasons are pretty simple:

First, it's easier to accept a character becoming an Alicorn if they have earned it.

Second, the story of how they became an Alicorn is much more interesting than what they do as an Alicorn.

…One exception to the first is if it turns out Alicorns can be born from other Alicorns and the Alicorn in question is the result of a shipping pairing involving a canon Alicorn. But the second still applies as that would only make us want to hear the story of how whatever pairing you've chosen came to be.

So generally, I will rarely decide to design a character specifically as an Alicorn… Despite all my stories having great opportunities to make it happen. Such as a story about an alchemist pegasus, which we all know is a plot that has a 50/50 chance of her creating the philosopher's stone and ascending.

(I really need to stop making new fic ideas… I have enough on my plate already.)

Actually, I'd say there is one important rule for writing any alicorn as a main character in a fic: write about the times when they can't just use their alicorn powers. For instance, there have been some very successful fics around Luna catching up on what's happened in Equestria since she was in the moon. Or, RealityCheck has a fic ( as yet unfinished) which so far is about Twilight getting used to being an Alicorn.

Usually I don't go in for the almost… Slice of life-y things like that. So generally it's better for me to stick to my own personal rules, where by the time ponies are ascending the threats have escalated high enough that the Alicorn status doesn't matter.

…For slice of life-y matters, I actually think its more likely for one to wind up with a Mary Sue. Because along with the facts that how they came to be alicorn is more interesting than their time as alicorn, but you've got them in a situation where its easy to forget what the heck problems even are.

… That's not a syntax error… In a mundane-ish plot, you are literally in peril of forgetting what constitutes a problem.

Lets illustrate…

Imagine a pony high school where a student shows up one day, suddenly a princess and needs to fit in… But the fact is that under no natural circumstances would a princess be "just going to school" unless it was the most prestigious academy ever for the most high class of ponies, where the mere fact they are a princess gets they not only in, but social acceptance. And even if you contrive circumstances to get them in a regular public highschool, they will still be accepted because they are a princess, everyone wants to make friends with royalty.

Of course… There are ways around it, such as some plot where they sneak out in disguise to go to a public high school so they can mingle with the average folk for a change of pace from their usual life, but that doesn't excuse the fact that slice of life is often an excuse to make a Sue Fic.

…And yeah, we're still left with the inevitable question of how the heck they became an Alicorn. There's no getting around the question of the "How and Why" they are an Alicorn, and it's certainly necessary to show and not tell.

I cannot stress that enough… The one time I actually considered writing a story where a main character is an Alicorn for the majority of the story is where the entire set of events for them becoming an Alicorn are covered in the first chapter that amounts to "I almost died twice today from an airship crash and a dangerously straining overuse of magic that broke my brain in order to keep the crash from being worse than it was. The later is why I'm an alicorn." Except in event form instead of dialogue.

(And suddenly I remember that was a thing I was going to write at one point… I need to stop coming up with fic ideas and just finish one of the ones I've already started.)
