Got a Hasbro Press Release for the upcoming Licensing Expo.
Hasbro Set to Drive Global Retail Programs with Strategic Licensing Supporting Company's Franchise Brands
PAWTUCKET, R.I.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Hasbro, Inc. (NAS: HAS) is set to arrive at the 2013 International Licensing Expo in Las Vegas on June 18 to showcase its global Franchise Brands, including TRANSFORMERS, NERF, MY LITTLE PONY, LITTLEST PET SHOP, PLAY-DOH, MAGIC: THE GATHERING and MONOPOLY. This year's lineup will highlight the company's continued momentum in bringing to market highly innovative brand extensions across key licensing categories such as publishing, digital gaming, apparel and plush, homewares, food, health and beauty.
"Hasbro is executing a highly focused and aggressive plan to extend its brand franchises in ways that are engaging for consumers worldwide," said Simon Waters, Senior Vice President, Global Brand Licensing and Publishing at Hasbro.
Following are the Hasbro properties that will take center stage at Licensing Expo:
MY LITTLE PONY
The MY LITTLE PONY franchise continues to be a worldwide favorite with fans of all ages, largely fueled by the global popularity of the My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic animated series, created by Hasbro Studios and currently airing in more than 180 countries and is also available across multiple platforms including iTunes and Netflix. The extensive merchandising program reaches across all major categories, including apparel, plush, publishing, toys and accessories. Hasbro continues the brand momentum with the June launch of the movie, My Little Pony Equestria Girls, a new full-length feature introducing a whole new dimension into the world of MY LITTLE PONY.
Should be interesting for the next few days (expo runs from the 18th – 20th). Also Pony was listed after Transformers (if you ask me that's kinda big on how it is doing)

McCarthy really doesn't have an excuse. If answering the question honestly causes you to breach contract, than don't answer the question. It's not like she's on a panel and has to lie, she's on Twitter and can simply ignore questions she can't legally answer honestly.
It's a moot point in this case anyway, considering she wasn't asked any questions and simply decided to preemptively say "Flash Sentry won't be a character in season four." She gave herself zero wiggle room for Exact Words or "I thought you meant." If she's lying about this, I'm not taking any Word of God she says seriously again as she forfeited that trust under "boy who cried wolf" syndrome.

USPTO description:
Toy ponies and accessories for use therewith; dolls, doll clothing and doll accessories for use therewithSo, what will Hasbro’s latest MLP trademark be about? For reference, Equestria Girls has two separate trademark filings, one for the movie and one for the toys.
/mlp/ rumors (“Hey, I work for Hasbro and I seem legit…”) say it’ll be a crossover video game (which begs the question as to why the trademark was filed for toys and not “entertainment services”) between the various Hasbro IP’s in the style of Bangai-O.
Personally, I’d like a Wonderbolt spinoff.
Here you go.
and several are starting the “Don’t believe her lies” meme again while forgetting what a NDA is and what a breach of contract would do.
Okay, two things:
Yes, NDAs keep her from disclosing a lot of details, but she unequivocally stated that Flash will not be in season four.
As xTSGx said, there isn't any room for interpretation in that so I don't think NDAs are involved.
Flash just isn't going to be there.
Done and done.
Meghan has not been afraid to say 'I can't talk about that' when she's been on panels at cons, doing audio or written interviews, or just throwing stuff out on Twitter.
She likes to have fun and be silly from time to time, but I think she definitely knows the legal lines she has to work between and doesn't intentionally breach those.
My bigger beef: Can someone please tell me why so many people treat Meghan as if she is some kind of horrible, habitual liar who can't be trusted in the slightest?
By my count, she has precisely one 'lie' under her belt and even that one instance has been thoroughly explained as a mistake.
<div class=spoiler title="For the uninitiated…">
Her 'lie' was implying that there would be a Rarity episode in season three and, as we all know, there was not.
She has since explained on numerous occasions that Spike At Your Service was originally designed as a Rarity/Spike episode and got relatively far along that vein.
At some point though, they decided that the way Rarity had to treat Spike ended up being too 'mean' so they switched things around to make Applejack the center of attention.
Because she had done so much work with it as a Rarity episode, Meghan said that she simply forgot about the switch when she wrote out that tweet (and the fact that she was making a whole series of similar tweets made it easy to get 'on a roll').
Calling that a 'lie' has always seemed rather dubious to me, at least with any degree of seriousness in the accusation.
Jokes are fine as she has even made them herself, but I see way too many people who really seem to believe that Meghan is untrustworthy (or worse) and it does kind of bother me.
So yeah, what's the deal with all the McCarthy hate?
<div class=spoiler title="Especially when we all should know who the REAL liar is…">
That's from the day that Tara took over the Hub's Twitter feed and, in my opinion, qualifies as a much stronger 'lie' than anything that Meghan has ever said.
Tara directly said 'There is no truth to the rumor that Twilight will become a princess' (and this was in November meaning that there was no possible way that Tara had not yet recorded her lines for the finale, so she knew full well what was going to happen).
Now that's a lie, yet I see almost no one ever go after Tara with the same level of hate that I've seen for Meghan.
Not that I want anyone to be hating either of them, it just feels horribly unfair.
@xTSGx and the Rainbooms trademark
Interesting, and a trademark application was the first public hint we ever saw of Equestria Girls, but there isn't really much to go on.
It's just saying that it will likely be some kind of toy line sometime in the future.
I'd have to guess that it has something to do with Dash or maybe the Wonderbolts, but really, it could be any number of things beyond that.
For everyone looking for a download of Equestria Girls, I have an announcement!
I can't find one anywhere!
…
But as a consolation prize, I did stumble across downloads for every single comic book released so far!
This means the full Chrysalis and Nightmare Rarity primary arcs (Main series #1-8) and the Mini-Series issues as they stand today (Twilight, Rainbow, Rarity, and Fluttershy).
All of them are in easy-to-use PDF format and ready to go!
If you haven't gotten the chance to read them yet, I highly recommend them!
Here you go: COMIC BOOK DOWNLOADS
Who needs paper comics?!
(But really, support the comics by buying a copy if you can.)
That site also has downloads for the books (Crystal Heart Spell, Sparkling Sea, etc.) and full 1080p downloads for every single episode
Keep an eye on it too, as I'm sure Equestria Gilrs will show up there once a high-quality version is found.
@Deadparrot Plushmaster
Thanks, I have uberbookmarked that shit and will now read all the poni in the world forever.
4th Dimension Entertainment would like to announce that Pinkie Pie is now available for pre-order Available Here
That's the problem with working in the entertainment industry. You sign a contract that basically says "YOU TELL ANYONE ABOUT THIS WE'RE GOING TO SUE THE TITS OFF OF YOU" and the fans will never understand that for some fucking reason. EVERY con that happened before Season 3 had to start the same exact way because the fans wouldn't listen "We can't say anything regarding Season 3 as we're under contract" "HEY TARA IS IT TRUE TWILIGHT SPARKLE IS GOING TO BE A PRINCESS THIS SEASON?!" It's not just with My Little Pony, it's about just about anything in the industry. At the same cons the voice actresses would always be talking about a new project they're working on…..but can't reveal any details including the name of the show due to the contract.
See when Tara was being bombarded by "IS TWILIGHT GOING TO BE A PRINCESS?!" questions daily she was pinned against a wall as she promised she was going to answer questions…..but sadly there were too many Season 3 questions and well……..
Look
@Meghan McCarthy telling lies on the internet
You really think someone would do that?
@Pony comics
Well shit, I already ordered "My Little Pony Friendship is Magic Volume 1" (I would've gotten it a lot sooner if amazon didn't send me the wrong fucking order). At least I can finally get caught up on those comics. I'm gonna start reading them now.

@DeadParrot222
Burn books?
Anyway, thanks for the free downloads.
So, is there a reason why Twilight had to turn into a human to get into the alternate dimension?
Maybe in the MLP world it has its own rules about traveling into alternate/parallel universes, sort of like changing into a different form to adapt better.
Wait, is there even a human version of Discord?

I don't know exactly how many people I speak for, but I can kinda see why some people would be reluctant to trust Meghan, and this is something that a lot of the staff on twitter do (though I don't know why Meghan is specifically getting singled out).
The problem may not so much be the lies but the very specific truths. For instance, look at this:
Okay, so she didn't lie. She didn't know what the Sunset Shimmer revelations were. The thing is, though, I'm pretty sure what the asker REALLY wanted to know was if the Sunset Shimmer rumors held any truth, and her response made it seem like they didn't. You could argue that they should have been more specific, but I'm pretty sure she knew what they meant and was just dodging the real question, which (I think?) counts as lying through omission and is probably enough to justify being a tad suspicious/pissed off (though maybe full-on hating her is a bit extreme).
Again though, I've seen a lot of the staff on twitter doing this sort of thing, so I don't know why she is getting singled out.
Realises he's arguing against a point that already has 6 thumbs up
…
So Equestria Girls happened…and it just kind of…happened?
Welp, I can call myself vindicated. I predicted that EqG would turn out like this. During all the shitstorms of the earlier months I kept telling people that the film would come to theaters then immediately blow over. Bronies will move on to the next thing and maybe even admit that the film turned out better than expected.
And it sounds like it is doing well for itself too. Still can't be bothered seeing it, though.
Whats next on our rage agenda?
@Fifths
Dude, go say hi to Deadparrot. You’re like an hour away from him.
And Deadparrot…get pictures.
DP is in Los Angeles? Damn, I missed him. I'm already heading out towards Oregon. I won't be back in L.A. until I'm returning back to LAX.
I would have asked him if he still had that Vinyl poster he was going to mail out. It never appeared at my address, unfortunately
I'm a little worried that DP got some of his cocaine on the package. If that's the case, then it been intercepted by NZ border security.
If anyone is in Oregon, they stand a better chance of finding me. But even then, I don't have a working cellphone (well it works, but my phone is only good for a watch right now) so any chance of meeting someone is slim
@Kewl
Sorry sir, I suggest going back a few pages if you want to see the >Rape discussions. We’re all a little raped out after the last BSoD circle jerk.
Plus, I had to jump on the plane immediately afterwards. Rape + jetlag? My body just isn't ready anymore. No more circlejerking until further notice
I think I always knew somehow that Equestria Girls would just be 'there' even though the bronies thought this would be the absolute end to My Little Pony Friendship is Magic and the fandom. They thought this was going to be bigger and worse than Twilicorn and in reality…………It was just there, and obviously it wasn't that bad as some of the reviews have been pretty good.
Added bonus: Now that everyone has access to the comics, we should be able to actually talk about them sometime!
Yay!
@Stunthead
Oh yeah, I had forgotten about that one, but as you even said, that's still more of a misunderstanding than a lie.
That example might actually be down to NDA stuff, unlike the other one.
Someone just showed up and referenced 'a rumor' without specifying what the rumor entailed.
What exactly could she have said without knowing that?
She can't really confirm or deny anything (Heck, she can't even be sure if she's allowed to confirm or deny anything) because she doesn't have any context.
She knows /mlp/ is freaking out about something Shimmer-related but is it her place in the show?
Her character arc?
Her backstory?
Her very existence?
Do the know about Equestria Girls yet?
If they do, what do they know about it?
Basically, she doesn't know what we do (and don't) know already.
Hasbro has a tendency to leak random bits of information in very odd ways that the writers would likely be completely unaware of.
(If I recall correctly, this case came about because someone released a shot of the Sunset Shimmer toy with the box's blub about her being Celestia's student and all that. Meghan would probably have no idea that Hasbro put that out there and that that is what was being argued about.)
Meghan's only option to quell every random unspecified rumor about a character would be to reveal exactly what that character will be and do, and she obviously can't do that (NDA and just generally not wanting to give away her story).
If you try to think about it from her perspective, I really don't see a way she could have answered that question much differently.
I think people just read her confusion as whatever answer they wanted to hear.
Now, a perfectly reasonable argument could be made that she should have just not replied at all, but that's just avoiding the issue.
Long story short, I don't feel that she did anything to intentionally deceive anyone, through omission or otherwise, and this reputation that she's earned is completely unwarranted.
@BSoD
Well, I'm not in LA.
I'm about 1 – 1.5 hours down the freeway from it (depending on traffic) but I'm certainly not far off.

@Equestria Gilrs reactions
Isn't that pretty much par for the course in this fandom?
Everyone goes so insane with doomsday prophecies and conspiracy theories about how 'the next big thing' (Twilight's magical appearing bother, some new alicorn Mary Sue, a girly wedding episode, the loss of Faust and the effect on future episodes, Twilicorn, EqG, etc, etc.) will totally destroy the fandom, then by the time the actual event occurs, the real thing can never be as bad as people had played it up to be so it comes off being a general positive (or at least neutral) in comparison.
It's a very odd cycle to watch but it just keeps happening over and over.
This fandom needs better coping mechanisms.
@DP
Stunthead stopped watching me for about a couple seconds. I used that time to make a break for the nearest Elven Sailboat heading out of The Shire. He couldn't stop me in time.
Sorry I didn't think about giving people here any advance notice. We could have arranged a few visits so we could commence IRL shipping say hi, but none of that made it onto the agenda. It's a family reunion thing. I'm out near Frenso now, so it's a bit late for L.A. Then again, I have this whole month
Isn’t that pretty much par for the course in this fandom?
Yep. That's how we roll. I'm just so very surprised by this turn of events
@Deadparrot
I… suppose that's fair enough, but I stand by the point that not trusting what she says is justified (I get a cube of chocolate every time I use the word "justified"). I mean, look at Kicks McGee's response. I find it hard to believe that she didn't know she was misleading people, whether she meant to at first or not. Same goes for this tweet:
While she didn't lie and she did answer the question, I'm pretty sure the asker's point was they were trying to find out if Sunset Shimmer would be significant or not, and since EqG was still a rumor at this point, there wasn't really any way for her to be "important" without being in the next season. Oh well, it doesn't matter too much now.
@Blue
I suppose it's my own fault for letting you out of my sight. I always fall for the "Hey, look! DeadParrot is right behind you" trick.
@Positive reception of EqG
Oooh boy. Here comes the "I told you guys that it would all be fine" posts from high-and-mighty fans.
Sigh. I always hate those sorts of things because they seem to imply that we aren't justified (nom) in saying we think something isn't going to work. I know some people get a bit carried away with their shouts of ROOINED 4EVAH, but it doesn't mean the concerns aren't valid. Or at least I don't think it does.
@ Skepticism
It's a natural instinct to be skeptical about anything. Some things make us more skeptical than others, and it's actually better to be skeptical than not to be. The reason why, and this is directly from one of my textbooks, is that when we are skeptical and wrong, it is better to realize the good coming from the situation than to believe that good situation, only to have it crushed. In this case, bronies and pegasisters being skeptical and seeing they were wrong about EQG was good in the way that there weren't shitstorms.
Sees people falling asleep
Was I that confusing?
@ Comics
Well, I have nothing to contribute right now for comics, because I haven't read them. Sorry…
@ Visiting
I actually visit SoCal three or four times a year since two years ago. Glad to see I'm not the only one who does so. I just don't usually go up north to L.A. or Long Beach that often when I do, however, for reasons that will remained classified.
But that's a boring life story that you don't want to hear, so here's an alternate! Try to guess the crossovers here!
PS… My master probably knows this one… right, 101?
And the last one!
That's all I could come up with at the moment…
I actually have something to say regarding the "lying" thing. Despite my lack of connections to the show as such, I think it's pretty fair to say this:
They shouldn't receive hate for "lying" because it's not their fault, but not (immediately or unconditionally) trusting what they say is a reasonable response. Good reasons or not, these stataements have been shown to be inaccurate so they can't be fully trusted.Basically, they haven't earned hate in the slightest, but it's not unreasonable to be skeptical, I'm pretty sure they wouldn't blame you for being skeptical either.
Well… I just remembered something only Tangentially Equestria Girls Related…
…Pinkie Still has a Knack for knowing things she shouldn't…
…Even when it's just her human world counterpart…
I think I read somewhere saying that Pinkie's Human Counterpart somehow knew that Twilight had a Human "twin"… But didn't question that Twilight wasn't her, or confuse the two… Meanwhile not one being other than her Knew of even said Human Twin, nor of Twilight herself.
It's like…How is it that ONLY Pinkie's counterpart knows of the doppelganger, and doesn't mistake the two… Yet nobody else is familiar with either of them?!
So yeah… Pinkie is still a Seer or whatever… Or something anyways…

Those crossovers you posted are, in order, Hellsing, the Saints Row series, the Splinter Cell series, Elfen Lied (awesome anime, by the way), and God of War. What do I win?

I didn't know Lyra was a giant transforming planet that was voiced by Orson Welles.
So, It's About Time is on right now (an episode I just realized I like a lot lol) and I just had an epic brain moment.
So Madame Pinkie Pie tells Twilight Sparkle that she's going to get a really cool birthday present next year. Well let's think about it, we have no idea how fast time passes in the Pony world, we have no idea how long Twilight has been in Ponyville unless we have another episode about Pinkie Pie's birthday and well, Twilight Sparkle's last birthday wasn't THAT long ago according to the Sweet and Elite. So we can ASSUME season 2 and 3 take place in the same year, so at the end of Season 3 Twilight becomes an Alicorn and crowned a princess (OMG MAJOR SPOILERS!) so then next time she has a birthday it will be a 'Princess' birthday and I'm pretty damn sure you don't get princesses a Burger King gift card (Although personally I'd enjoy a Burger King gift card myself) so chances are Twilight would get something really cool for her birthday.
PINKIE PIE CAN SEE THE FUTURE!

Presumably it was to ensure that she could actually do stuff in the AU. What would a high school's reaction be to a talking purple pony? Probably either calling animal control or UNIT.
I hate the stupid character limit on the spoiler tag.
@markhaox14
Nah, don't worry about doing that. I was joking around with the "what do I win?" comment. In regards to how I made my guesses…
Pictures 1, 3, 4, and 5 are all iconic in their respective mediums. Even people who don't watch anime have seen the character of Alucard in some fashion. Picture 4 is a ponified version of the cover of the Elfen Lied anime, of which I am a fan of and would immediately recognize. Picture 5 is obviously Bon Bon as the main character of the God of War series, Kratos. Picture 3 is, of course, Sam Fisher from the Splinter Cell series. Those two are easily recognizable by their outfits and accessories. Finally, Picture 2 could only be Saints Row because of the use of the the Third Street Saints' logo.
In short, it's all elementary, my dear markhaox14.

Speaking of, what exactly was Shimmer thinking? "I'll take over Equestria, by mind controlling a bunch of high school kids!" How did she possibly think that would succeed? Even more ridiculous was if she was also planning on conquering Earth…with the same kids. I can just imagine her going to UN Headquarters to mind control the General Assembly only for security to riddle her with bullets when she goes demon mode when they refuse her entry. (In fact, I want to write a fanfic on the subject). I've heard some idiotic villain plans in my day, but that takes the cake.I hate the stupid character limit on the spoiler tag.
Also, possible fan-wank here, but has anyone else twigged to the fact that the character who plans to . . . do the stuff Lurker talks about in his spoiler . . . has the initials SS.
As in THE SS.
Probably a coincidence, but still.

We know that Sunset Shimmer is an old student of Celestia. Assuming that Sunset Shimmer got taught roughly what Twilight got taught
Alright, assuming everyone has seen issue 8 by now, I have to say I now consider it non canon. Why? Well, Luna still has the normal mane, but Trixie and Babs are in Ponyville. I can't explain it any other way. It's a non canon arc. Case closed.
Oh, and as for finding a high-quality EQG, it should be done by the time I head upstate at most.

The mane change could just be because the artist thought it looked better. We actually haven't had an in-show reason why Luna looks different between seasons 1 and 2 (we have word-of-Faust, but that has become less and less valuable since she left), so I don't really consider her having the season 1 mane all that much of a problem.
Also, with Babs and Trixie, there isn't much of a problem wither: Babs has a relative in Ponyville, so it isn't that huge of a stretch that she would be there. And there isn't any reason why Trixie couldn't be there: it's a free country, she can go where she wants.
Anyway, with "expanded universe" stuff like this, the rule of thumb is that it's canon unless something in the main series explicitly says otherwise. A few minor nit-picks aren't really enough to boot the comic out.
So I'm b& for posting pony on /b/ again. (fukkin janitors)
@Luna’s mane
My head canon as to why Luna looks different than she did at the beginning of the series is because she has shape shifting powers and she wanted to look more like her sister. We’ve seen her change her appearance to Nightmare Moon in ‘Luna Eclipsed’ so I think it’s a plausible explanation.
I’m still behind on the comics. I’ll talk about ‘em once I’m finished.

On a similar note, if Luna can change at will it would be useful to remember that long hair can be annoying, and is a huge liability in a fight. Considering that all the post season 1 times we have seen her were when she either wanted to make an impression ("Luna Eclipsed") or when she was at some kind of official function (like the wedding or the coronation), and it's plausible that the fancier mane is just her "special occasions" hair.

um, Babs could simply have been visiting the Ponyville Apple family, so Babs being present isn't a problem. As for Trixie, IIRC, Trixie worked on Pinkie's parents' rock farm, which is just outside Ponyville.Trixie never actually had a problem with most of Ponyville's residents, just Twilight. (the Ponyville residents, on the other hand, were distinctly cross with Trixie, and understandably so) So, when she saw there was more trouble than usual in Ponyville, she headed inot town to help out.
I would actually suggest this is after Luna Eclipsed, though. Why? the power the Mane Six summoned to deal with Nightmare Rarity. regardless of if it is the power of the Elements or not. if it was around during the wedding of Cadence, why did they not use it?
As for Luna's mane, there is a simple explanation: the normal mane is what the mane actually looks like, but Celestia and Luna make their manes look like they do sing some form of spell in order to impress. Which is why neither Cadence or Twilight have similar manes. in the comic, Luna didn't need to bother with her mane ( plus, it's probably easier to color her normal mane)

She has become suddenly popular over the past couple days (though this gif has existed for quite a while) and she even has her own Tumblr!
Bow to your oddly cute mutant pony-car!
Wheely Bopper looks like a cross between Derpy and Rainbow Dash to me.
^ …and a Go Kart
…and nightmares

It's just a duckroll but with rainbows
@ Wheely Bopper
I don't know why… but that pony GIF reminded me of Roadrunner from the Looney Tunes.
Sometimes, I perplex even myself with my many trains of thought.

Alright, assuming everyone has seen issue 8 by now, I have to say I now consider it non canon. Why? Well, Luna still has the normal mane, but Trixie and Babs are in Ponyville. I can’t explain it any other way. It’s a non canon arc. Case closed.
I'm in agreement, but more because the writer decided to completely ignore Luna Eclipsed and instead use season one "Atoner" fanon Luna who has self confidence issues, as opposed to canon Luna who rolled her eyes at being called Nightmare Moon.
Plus, rumor has it, IDW's thinking about turning the comics into an AU where Twilight doesn't become an alicorn. Of course, that could just be /mlp/ having delusional fantasies again.

Also, possible fan-wank here, but has anyone else twigged to the fact that the character who plans to . . . do the stuff Lurker talks about in his spoiler . . . has the initials SS.
Old meme is old.

Reminds me of that Vsauce episode that talks about why animals don't have wheels.
It's because if animals had wheels, they'd have to have roads, and roads would mean they'd spend resources constructing something they'd have to share with other animals. Essentially, animals are selfish bastards.
Hey, DP, I just need to let you know how awesome those comic download links are. I've wanted to read the comics for a very long time now, but I'm always timid about buying things I don't know I'll enjoy
@McCarthy lies: I just don't trust things people say on twitter in general, not just what McCarthy says. As far as I'm concerned, I respect the boundaries of everyone's contracts, and I think the things the staff say to mess with the bronies are absolutely hilarious, and they should never stop.
