I've heard that learning discipline is far more effective and reliable than trying to stay motivated. Of course, I couldn't say.

I've had too many cases where I'm working on something and need to take a break, so I go on social media or something, then get involved to the point where an hour or two passes before I get back to work, and then the momentum's gone and it's hard to progress. So, I'm very selective with what I do when taking a quick break, making sure that it's short. Maybe watch a few short videos, or read some interesting articles.

About what specifically?
If its something like self improvement just take it slowly. If you try to make huge changes in your life you'll most likely get tired really fast and quit.
I started a diet 2 months ago but didn't just flat out do everything at once. First I just bought some more healthy options to mix in with my shit diet, then once I had some foods I actually enjoyed and wasn't just forcing myself to like I quit soda, then candy. After a few weeks I began doing the "hard" stuff by drinking this nasty apple vinegar shit then moved up to supplements, and mixed juice.
Since all the changes happened over time and when I was ready it was a lot easier. You just kind of get to a point where you don't even think about it anymore. I don't even have to force myself to not drink soda because I just don't care about it anymore and the nasty drinks become such a route its like brushing your teeth or taking a shower, they aren't even that bad anymore. Then a month or 2 passes and you start noticing the gains and that makes it even easier.
Fuck big resolutions, just go slow if you mess up then take it in even smaller steps until you're ready to move up.
I'm admittingly a lazy ass but I also really feel accomplishing tasks and getting stuff done gives me a sense of purpose in the day. with some exceptions I hate going through entire days with nothing to actually do and nothing to remember or look back on.
