Dear KnowYourMeme,

I vehemently loved the Distracted Boyfriend meme because I honestly thought that people would never use that meme again after 31 December 2019 due to its huge popularity in the previous couple of years.
However, since 2020 I have seen people use the Distracted Boyfriend meme about one and a half dozen times online, and most of those instances were on KnowYourMeme. Because of this, I am deeply heartbroken every time someone posts the the Distracted Boyfriend meme, and the more I see people use that meme, the more anguish I feel.
I regularly read the news on KnowYourMeme as research for a project of mine and over the years I've had to email KnowYourMeme about three or four times because they posted the Distracted Boyfriend meme in the news section.
However, not only did they keep posting the Distracted Boyfriend meme, but on an especially upsetting incident when they, to my dumbfounded horror, posted a video explaining why the Distracted Boyfriend meme is still popular, I hit my head with my fists, which then caused me to have a fight with my mother and emailed KnowYourMeme demanding that they stop causing my mother and I havoc with the Distracted Boyfriend meme.
And do you know what happened next? Instead of offering my mother and I an apology or compensation, or promising to never post the Distracted Boyfriend meme again, they banned my IP address from KnowYourMeme and I was so terrified that I nearly had a panic attack, but luckily I got KnowYourMeme to unban me within a few minutes.
Because of all these incidents, I always feel anxious when checking the news on KnowYourMeme, even though I need to do so for my project. For the past few days, I had chickened out because I was scared of KnowYourMeme harming me again, but today I decided that I had gone too many days without checking the KnowYourMeme news and decided to do so again.
In the early hours of 1 August 2023, I innocently browsed the news on KnowYourMeme when I found an article featuring a collection of various anime memes collected from Reddit. I have seen countless articles just like this on KnowYourMeme over the years and I normally read each full article, but this time I couldn't bring myself to open the article because the cover image included yet another instance of the Distracted Boyfriend meme, which sent me into a suicidal depression.
Why won't you stop posting the the Distracted Boyfriend meme when I keep telling you that this meme gives me the most extreme emotional distress? Why do you keep ignoring me? I had to post this on the forums because I was scared of having my IP banned again, and I shouldn't be punished for trying to protect my mental health.
I beg you from the bottom of my heart, never post the the Distracted Boyfriend meme to KnowYourMeme again. I would do anything if it would make you stop posting that meme. I would pay you a million dollars, I would climb to the top of Mount Everest, I would make you breakfast in bed, just to protect my mental health.
Also, please don't make this post go viral and please leave me anonymous. I just want to leave a simple life in the countryside and not become famous until I've started a career.

kym is a website. on the internet. It cannot hurt you, but your thoughts about it can.

if the thoughts persist, find another site to do your project. Even if the project requires the browsing of kym, you could find someone else to browse on your behalf.

Excuse me, but I'm being 100% serious. I'm a disabled woman battling autism, schizophrenia and depression among other mental illnesses and I vehemently loved the Distracted Boyfriend meme because I though that no-one would post in the 2020s; every time someone does so, I get badly heartbroken and fall into a deep depression. When I saw KnowYourMeme use that meme in the early hours of 1 August 2023, I fell into a suicidal depression and only started to recover after making this thread. Why would I make a humorous post in a suicidal depression?

Anyway, in order to protect my mental health, I need KnowYourMeme to never post the Distracted Boyfriend meme ever again. There's nothing funny about giving a disabled woman depression and suicidal thoughts because of an object labelling template.

Excuse me, but my project is inspired by all strands of pop culture, so browsing the KYM news is essential for research for this project. Also, I have no-one else who can browse on my behalf; I have no friends and live with my parent who has no interest in helping me with my project.

I'm not going to defend posting stale memes to the Frontpage. But if you are actually this upset about a meme that isn't speading misinformation and/or promoting hate/bigotry being posted on a meme site… you might be better of not using said meme site. I know in the past there have been frequent requests to create image filters (first for MLP, then for things like wojaks). If KYM ever got a filter system I think that could largely solve some if this, but given I recently bumped a 6 year old thread asking for pinned comments in mod forum that still has no admin response… I don't see this happening soon, sorry.

Arguing on an internet forum like this is not healthy.

Your mental health is more important than whatever project you're working on, so you should prioritize your health first.
What I mean is take things into your own hands and stop browsing websites that cause you distress.

Can confirm it's real. I had a mental breakdown over seeing the Dole® Dippers™ penguin.

I mean I get it, I can sympathize with this, this website did reduce my own mental sanity by half but like…its a pretty harmless meme? Not sure why that one is affecting you and not…the wojacks for example.

The problem is that you can't control what others do or don't. It doesn't matter if you ask politely or not. There is just no way you can impose a ban on meme, let alone one that's pretty harmless for everyone else but you.

What you can control is the kind of things you do or avoid. If it's affecting your mental health to that degree, stop browsing KYM. That kind of stress is never good for your health, mental and otherwise. Then seek professional help. People on forums can't solve your problems and what you're asking for just isn't feasible.

You don't understand. The project is part of a contract I signed and I will be killed instantly if if quit this project. In order to research this project, I need to regularly check the Frontpage of KYM.

And, on the now-nonexistent outside chance that you're somehow being sincere (because I've worked with those with trauma and suicidal thoughts before and I'm hardcoded), genuinely seek therapy, it works. And also someone to look at dank memes for you.

It's not a mafia blood contract. I am not in the mafia and have never even met a gangster. To tell the truth, the deal that I made was with an almighty, non-human being. Other people would say that I made a deal with the devil, but I wouldn't dare disrespect the being that I made the deal with.

Also, I am not making a meme collage. The deal with the being was that I would become a fashion designer and start a brand inspired by pop culture, particuarly otaku culture, or he would kill me. To research my future designs, it is necessary to check the news on the Frontpage. I have to do it myself because no-one else would do this properly, which is why it is vital that the Distracted Boyfriend meme be banned.

Well if people didn't think you weren't full of crap before, they should know now.

Can someone close this thread already? OP is either trolling or neurodivergent to some degree and there's no benefit to anyone to continue keeping it open at this point, not even for them.

Now I'm giving you more advice: Seek professional help. Please. You need to understand that what you are doing is not healthy.

Als I don't really understand the logic of "I love X thing, which I would otherwise hate, because people would never use it after Y date". With all due respect, it sounds silly.

If it helps you, memes come and go and hopefully some day that meme will be no more just like it happened to advice animals and demotivational images.

If you are not trolling please talk to a doctor, what you described is a delusion or a hallucination
