One Hit Wonders

A recent trend I've noticed with new music I begin to take an interest in is that many bands have "one hit wonders" for me. This basically means that I hear a song by them that I really like, and decide to check out some of their other music, only to be disappointed by the outcome. Has this ever happened to you? Are there any artists who have only one song that you like, or maybe that you've heard a good song from and just couldn't get into the rest of their music?

I'll post a few of the songs I like that are One Hit Wonders for me:
Radioactive-Imagine Dragons
Feel Good, Inc.-Gorillaz
*Laser Lobotomy-Blotted Science

Misery Business-Paramore
Monsoon-Tokio Hotel
Tank!-The Seatbelts (the intro song to Cowboy Bebop)
The Reaping-Living Sacrifice
This War is Ours-Escape the Fate
Darude-Sandstorm

i dont think it happens to me anymore, it used to happen quite often but now i sit down and listen the entire album, my guess is you have to do that, search the album where the song comes form and just let it play 2 or 3 times.

i used to only listen to feel good inc. but once i listened to it completely i found more good songs like

And this beauty

Typically I try to like the other songs that the famous One-Hit Wonders do, such as Dexys Midnight Runners. But with this, I think I can find some that fit with me.

  • Ace of Base – The Sign
  • Audioslave – I Am the Highway
  • Blue October – Into the Ocean
  • Cascada – Evacuate the Dancefloor
  • Chevelle – Jars
  • The Cult – Fire Woman
  • Death Cab for Cutie – I Will Possess Your Heart
  • En Vogue – Free Your Mind
  • Joe Cocker – Feelin' Alright
  • Little River Band – Lady
  • Matthew Sweet – Girlfriend
  • My Chemical Romance – Sing
  • Pop Evil – 100 in a 55
  • The Roots – The Seed (2.0)
  • Rufus – Tell Me Something Good
  • Sade – Smooth Operator
  • Sex Pistols – Anarchy in the U.K.
  • Soul Asylum – Somebody to Shove
  • The Stone Roses – Love Spreads
  • TLC – Waterfalls

I always associated Sympathy for the Devil with Paint it Black. You might like that one.

  • 009 Sound System – Violate
  • Coldplay – Speed of Sound
  • Tokyo Police Club – Be Good
  • The Matches – Audio Blood
  • Ultraspank – Better Luck Next Time
  • Adam Freeland – We Want Your Soul
  • Ash – Orpheus
  • Burning Brides – Heart Full of Black
  • Bush – The People That We Love
  • Chiddy Bang – The Opposite of Adults
  • Cinema Staff – Great Escape
  • Course of Nature – Wall of Shame
  • Crystal Castles – Reckless
  • DJ Mark Campbell – Trucker's Choice
  • Drill Queen – Born Depressed [Not sure if this counts, she only has three songs that I know of]
  • Dum Dum Girls – Coming Down
  • Flux Pavilion – Haunt You
  • Goldhawks – Running Away

To name a few.

Street Fighting Man
Paint it Black
(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction
You Can't Always Get What You Want
Jumpin' Jack Flash
Under My Thumb

How can these songs not get you rocking (pun intended) when those other two can? Or have you heard them? I understand not being into ones like Wild Horses, Ruby Tuesday, Angie etc, and obviously you're entitled to your own opinion, but… come on. Throw me a bone, man.
