Please no Stoffe, just stop this madness.
Anyway, some of mine are:
Nightwish
Evanesence (no memeing)
Cradle of Filth
Dimmu Borgir
Black Sabbath
I don't really listen to any particular bands, since I listen to hand picked songs from here and there. I'm also more fond of videogame music than your typical bands. But if I had to mention any "favourite" bands, there are some folk-metal bands that I like, such as:
Finntroll
Korpiklaani
Turisas
Eluveitie
But there are two exceptions I've gotta mention, which are:
O-Life Japan (my favourite Touhou circle)
Bôa (mainly the entire Twilight album, which is really awesome)
Red Hot Chili Peppers
The Strokes
Queen
I don't listen to rock (or alternative rock) as much as I used to but those are bands I can name off the top of my head.
Tides from Nebula
Pictures from Nadira
U2
Feather Child
@Eglamore
>famous Welsh bands are Lostprophets and Bullet for My Valentine
J U ST
Back on topic
Rock
Metal
Just to name a couple of favorites:
Do note that with a lot of these bands, I haven't listened to much of their albums, but I've listened to a bunch of their songs on the radio. Any band in which I've actively gone out and listened to an album of their's makes them a bigger favorite, and out of all of these, Pink Floyd would be my number 1 choice as favorite band.
Pink Floyd
King Crimson
Jethro Tull
Velvet Underground
Radiohead
Pavement
Nirvana
R.E.M
Pixies
The Smiths
Joy Division
Talking Heads
XTC
KoЯn (Issues is the best album in history)
Limp Bizkit (i love Fred so much <3) (first album is the best)
Seether <3 (the only band that has never disappointed me)
Linkin Park (old albums only (plus The Hunting Party))
PRIMUS <3
Rammstein (die beste Rockband Deutschlands <3)
Skillet (the last 2 albums suck so much)
Red (amazing band literally no one knows :'(((()
Avenged Sevenfold
Evanescence (hello childhood, lol)
30 Seconds to Mars (first two albums only, Capricorn is their best song)
Metallica (One is the best song ever recorded in my humble opinion, despite the horrific quality)
I'm afraid I might have missed something, but I suppose these are the most favorite ones. There are so many other bands that have a few songs that I love. A full list would have been reeeeeeeeeeeeally long.
Holy shit, I forgot SOAD, how could I forget SOAD of all bands? :/
Genesis
Rush
Pink Floyd
Kraftwerk
Kansas
In no particular order
Iron Maiden (no surprise)
Helloween

The Smiths
The Rolling Stones

Fugazi
Electric Light Orchestra
Looking Glass
Kino
The Strokes
Witch
Blue Oyster Cult
Sabaton
Fidlar
The Killers

Disturbed
Gorillaz (not sure if this counts, but whatever)
Smashing Pumpkins (don't think I've seen this here yet)
Franz Ferdinand
Can't categorize music if my life depended on it, so filter out whatever doesn't fit (semi-sorted from most to least favorite):
-Vertical Horizon: Pre "Everything You Want", the rest is just okay. My interest in the later stuff left along with Keith Kane.
-Elton John: Mostly late 80s to late 90s, Reg Strikes Back is my favorite. Haven't really stopped and listened to the really early stuff (Honky Chateau) yet.
-R.E.M.: One of the few groups whose quality stays pretty consistant from early to current day, with at least two or three repeatable songs per album.
-Tonic: Alternative is such a vague genre, but if anyone asked me what I thought alternative was, Tonic would have to be my example.
-Depeche Mode: See R.E.M.
-Genesis: Not gonna lie. Wilson is my favorite iteration, then Collins, then Gabriel. It's all good, but the music of the Gabriel era is simply too long and just..off for me. Collins era has some catchy stuff ("Dodo" for days), but it did get stale.
Also, quick mention of Buckethead. Not much to say, though. He good. He real good.
