2020 In One Frame is a frequently used caption to describe a picture that the post's author believes thematically describes their experience in the year 2020.

Origin

The earliest known usage of the caption was posted by Twitter^[1] user @FriendlyLawyer on April 12th, 2020. In the post, they retweeted a photo of a melted Easter bunny. They captioned the image, "Easter, 2020 in one frame" (shown below).

Spread

Over the next few months, the phrase would see continued use on Twitter. For example, on May 3rd, Twitter^[2] user @mayurpuri tweeted, "They say a picture is worth a thousand words. This one is worth a million. I don't know who clicked it (someone posted it on FB) but the photographer deserves a prize for capturing every aspect of 2020 in one frame. History is made of pictures like these." The tweet received more than 1,500 likes and 400 retweets in less than six months (shown below, left).

The trend also moved to other platforms. On August 30th, Redditor Metathink_Years posted a version on the /r/zootopia^[3] subreddit. Less than two weeks later, on September 8th, Instagram ^[4] user @cornelrithika_official posted a variation, which received more than 10,000 likes in less than one month (shown below, right).
