28 Years Later Hung Alpha Zombie, also known as Naked Zombie Alpha and 28 Inches Later, refers to a series of memes referencing the naked alpha zombie (or infected) featured in the 2025 horror movie 28 Years Later. Shortly after the film's release, still images and clips showing the zombie's massive penis started to be shared alongside jokes and memes in mid-June 2025, especially on TikTok, Reddit and Twitter / X.

Origin

On June 19th, 2025, the horror movie 28 Years Later premiered in theaters worldwide. A particular character in the film, an "alpha" zombie (called "infected" in the movie's universe) named Samson (played by actor Chi Lewis-Parry), features a large prostetic penis^[1] that is shown in a few scenes throughout the movie.

That same day the movie premiered, X^[2] user @lovedawoon posted the earliest mention of the alpha zombie's massive gentials, tweeting, "28 Years Later was fucking great and all but why was that Alpha so damn hung omg just slinging that thing around chasin people." The post (seen below) received more than 49,000 views and 129 likes in five days.

Posts commenting on the alpha zombie's large penis gained viral traction over the next few days on X and TikTok, inspiring jokes and memetic content in late June 2025.

For example, on June 21st, 2025, TikTok^[3] user @moviemonk2511 posted a comedic skit video about his reaction while watching 28 Years Later's alpha zombie on the big screen. The video (seen below) received more than 9 million plays and 807,000 likes in three days.

On the same day, X^[4] user @planetaterrorpd uploaded a still image of the alpha zombie accompanied by a Scary Movie reaction image, writing, "Me every time Alpha show up’s in #28YearsLater." The tweet (seen below) amassed more than 49,000 views and 175 likes in three days.

On June 23rd, 2025, Redditor AimlessFacade posted a Laughing Nervously What the Fuck? meme to the subreddit /r/memes^[5] referencing the scene, receiving over 18,000 upvotes and 570 comments before moderators removed the post (shown below).

Various publications also covered the viral moment in late June 2025, including Screen Rant,^[1] Vulture^[6] and AV Club,^[8] the latter of which explained that the prosthetic penis was legally required due to British child endangerment laws. About the scene, actor Chi Lewis-Parry said:

They were prosthetics. There’s a law that states, I think, because he’s a child, you’re allowed to have nudity but it has to be fake nudity. It was to protect him. And, as well, I’m really friendly and am always hugging people. I wouldn’t have been doing that if I was fully in the nip!
