About
Red Flags In My Room, Red Flag TikTok or Red Flags In Men refers to a trend on TikTok where people jokingly show off potential red flags in their rooms, their boyfriend's room or another location. Sometimes the trend is used to show off red flags in people or types of people (i.e. red flags in men, women, etc.). The trend was popularized on TikTok in September 2021, often set to the original sound "male manipulator mashup." A red flag is a metaphorical warning or sign that something is off.
Origin
Discussions about red flags in men and women are common on TikTok and started to become more common throughout 2021. In April of that year, TikTokers started posting videos sharing "weirdly specific" red flags they see in members of the opposite sex (compilations shown below, left and right).
On September 3rd, 2021, TikToker[1] @wariosballs69 posted a video with the on-screen caption "do i give off any red flags?" where they show off their bedroom, revealing things like a wall of guitars, a Neutral Milk Hotel poster, a number of albums including Weezer's Blue Album and what appears to be a My Little Pony cum jar project, gaining over 243,000 views in a month (shown below). It is unknown if this is the earliest video showing off red flags in a bedroom.

The video inspired other TikTokers to show off the potential red flags in their bedrooms. For example, on September 10th, TikToker[2] @gigieatsballs posted a video with the caption "red flags in my room" showing a "plushie hammock," Minecraft bedsheets and a Mocking SpongeBob meme drawn on the wall, gaining over 600,000 views in a month (shown below).
