Abilgail the Haunted Doll refers to a doll that went viral in June 2019 with people commenting on its bizarre appearance.

Origin

On June 1st, 2019, Twitter[1] user @TheNerdyVixen tweeted, "So, I saw this doll at an antique store a few months ago. I kept thinking about this doll, seeing its face in my head. I decided it was time to bring it home today." They included a photograph of themselves with the doll. The tweet received more than 46,000 likes and 10,000 retweets in three days (shown below). The following day, @TheNerdyVixen tweeted, "Her name is Abigail."

So, I saw this doll at an antique store a few months ago. I kept thinking about this doll, seeing its face in my head. I decided it was time to bring it home today. 5:19 PM 1 Jun 2019

Spread

Following the initial post, people began joking about the doll being haunted. Twitter[2] user @XLNB tweeted a mock conversation between the owner and the doll with the latter saying that the doll would eat the owner. The post received more than 9,000 likes and 1,000 retweets in three days (shown below, left).

Redditor KGBree[3] posted another tweet by @XLNB in the /r/BlackPeopleTwitter subreddit. The tweet reads, "How does it feel to be in the opening scene of a horror movie?" The post received more than 10,000 points (99% upvoted) and 180 comments in two days (shown below, center).

Twitter[4] user @ZakGhaliAZ tweeted an I'm In Danger meme featuring the image. The post received more than 5,900 likes and 400 retweets in two days (shown below, right).
