"Actually, Quantum Mechanics Forbids This" is a reaction image based on a screen-capture from the PBS digital series Space Time, which features the host Matthew O'Dowd standing next to the negative statement displayed on screen. It is used to refute someone else's opinion or statement in a hyperbolic manner for comedic effect.

Origin

On May 23rd, 2018, the YouTube channel PBS Space Time published a video entitled "Why Quantum Information is Never Destroyed." The post features host Matthew O'Dowd discussing the laws of quantum physics and at about 4:30 the text "Actually, Quantum Mechanics Forbids This" appears on screen. The video (shown below) received more than 129,000 views.

That day, Redditor ^[1] TheShayminex posted a screen-capture of the moment underneath the text "I like traps but I'm not gay," a reference to the Are Traps Gay? memes, in the /r/MemeEconomy subreddit. The post (shown below) received more than 19,000 points (88% upvoted) and 3,400 comments in 24 hours.

Several hours later, Redditor^[2] Kingmenudo posted a version of the meme featuring the text "'Black people can not be racist'" in the /r/dankmemes subreddit. The post (shown below, left) received more than 475 points (96% upvoted).

Another Redditor^[3] in the /r/MemeEconomy subreddit, glimpim01, posted another version, which features the text "I play Fortnite but I'm not gay." Within 24 hours, the post (shown below, center) received more than 1,000 points (89% upvoted) and 70 comments.

That day, Redditor^[4] vanillaworldwarcraft posted a version in /r/dankmemes of a screen-capture of a YouTube video entitled "ROBLOX: How To Make Boobies (No Morph)." The post (shown below, right) received more than 600 points (97% upvoted).
