Addison Rae Lip Gloss Trend is a TikTok trend where users apply lip gloss, lip stick or lip oil with one hand by holding the container between their teeth. The trend is inspired by TikToker Addison Rae, who frequently applies her lip gloss like this in TikTok videos, also inspiring parodies of the videos.

Origin

TikToker Addison Rae has posted several videos where she applies lip gloss in a specific way. She places the closed container between her teeth, twists it open with one hand, takes the container out of her mouth with the same hand, then applies the lip gloss with that hand. She posted a video like this to TikTok^[1] on January 19th, 2022, gaining over 23 million views in seven months (shown below, left). On July 23rd, she posted a similar video to TikTok^[2] that gained over 51.9 million views in a month (shown below, right).

Spread

In July 2022, TikTokers began posting videos where they apply lip gloss or another makeup product in the same way, as well as videos parodying the way Rae puts on her lip gloss. For example, on July 30th, 2022, TikToker^[3] @ana.bunnyfaye posted a video following the trend, garnering over 16 million views in two weeks (shown below, left). On August 2nd, TikToker^[4] @kikizcosmeticz posted a video doing the trend, garnering over 5 million views in two weeks (shown below, right).

On August 9th, TikToker^[5] @nataly.hirano posted a video where she applies vaseline to her lips using a large bottle, garnering over 7.7 million views in six days (shown below). On August 13th, Dexerto^[6] published a story on the trend.

On the same day, Rae posted another video to TIkTok^[7] where she applies lip gloss using her method, garnering over 7.3 million views in two days (shown below).
