Overview

Monty Lopez vs. Yung Gravy and Sheri Easterling refers to an online feud between TikToker Addison Rae's dad, Monty Lopez, and rapper Yung Gravy. In July 2022, Lopez was accused of cheating on his wife, Sheri Easterling, with 25-year-old Renee Ash and hitting on several younger women, becoming the subject of online scrutiny. It was later found out that the two were separated at the time of the relationship between Lopez and Ash. After the allegations, Easterling made her single relationship status public. Lopez and rapper Yung Gravy began feuding after Gravy and Easterling started flirting over TikTok, resulting in Lopez challenging Yung Gravy to a boxing match and Gravy calling him immature.

Relationship Between Monty Lopez and Sheri Easterling

Monty Lopez is the co-founder of BAM Social, a TikTok-specific agency that "helps brands reach their target audience by creating high-production value TikToks with curated content."[1]

On July 20th, 2020, Seventeen[2] published an article discussing a podcast Addison Rae did with her mom where she revealed that her parents, Lopez and Easterling, divorced when she was a child. They dated on and off as she grew up and remarried in 2017 according to Rae.

Club Video

On July 5th, 2022, now-deleted TikToker[3] @marlig_ posted a video taken at a bar or club. In the video, an allegedly 19-year-old girl said, "Addison Rae's dad is trying to fuck me, I swear to god." The video cuts to footage of the girl talking with Lopez. He can be seen caressing her backside, then later kissing her cheek (shown below).

Renée Ash Accusations

On July 7th, 2022, Page Six[4] published an interview with 25-year-old Renée Ash. In the piece, Ash accused Lopez of misleading her into having an affair. According to Ash, Lopez lied and told her that his relationship with Easterling was over and they were seeking a divorce. She told Page Six, "He told me that we were going to be together and have babies together." Lopez introduced Ash to his mother and younger brother. Ash and Lopez reportedly had a pregnancy scare in mid-June as the affair went on. Ash then claimed the leaked club video inspired her to expose Lopez. Ash provided a collection of DMs as proof of their alleged affair and his misleading ways, as well as photographs of the two together, including DMs calling his relationship with Easterling "weird" (examples shown below).

The scandal received widespread attention from entertainment media and online commentators. On July 7th, Josh Richards posted a video to YouTube discussing the scandal, gaining over 400,000 views in three weeks (shown below, left). On July 8th, YouTuber thots n prayers discussed the drama, gaining over 179,000 views in three weeks (shown below, right).

On July 22nd, 2022, NBC News[5] published an article from reporter Kat Tenbarge about the scandal, highlighting how Rae's fame has brought her family into the crosshairs of media scrutiny. In the article, Tenbarge discusses how Lopez has used Rae's fame to launch BAM Social. She wrote:

Rae’s family is among a new generation of influencers and stage parents who capitalize on the viral success of their children. And while many of them follow the well-worn tropes of reality TV, the drama isn’t always entirely within their control. It can take a life of its own on TikTok.

Responses to Scandal From Rae Family

Around July 23rd, 2022, Easterling changed her Instagram bio to read "single mom."[6] She also put out a statement via Instagram Story, which read:

Personal matters being brought public are always challenging and overwhelming for anyone involved, my biggest concern is – and always will be my children and their fragile hearts and minds. I will always do my best to protect them.

On July 25th, Rae made a post on Twitter[7] claiming she's been "struggling to post and get out and do things" and expressing her love for her fans. She wrote, "My life is forever changed thanks to all of the people who decided to care about me and support me. I love y’all <3 life is weird but worth it." The post gained over 7,800 likes in three days.

On August 8th, Instagram[8] page tiktokroomtm posted a screenshot showing that Addison Rae unfollowed her mother on Instagram.

Monty Lopez vs. Yung Gravy and Sheri Easterling

On July 25th, 2022, TikToker[9] @sherinicolee, the account of Rae's mother Sheri Easterling, Stitched a video by Yung Gravy where he announces he's back in America and looking to hookup with someone, saying he's "trying to butter the biscuit." In the video, Easterling buys numerous tins of Pilsbury biscuits, then shows a tray filled with them, garnering over 3.8 million views in a month (shown below, left). On July 27th, Gravy posted a video to TikTok[10] with Tana Mongeau, which Easterling stitched with a sad reaction, garnering over 5 million views in a similar span of time (shown below, right). Yung Gravy then responded to the first post on TikTok[11] on July 25th, implying he wanted to go on a date with Easterling, garnering over 4.1 million views in a month.

On August 3rd, Gravy appeared on the BFFs podcast where he talked about Easterling. In the interview, he said Easterling is "the MILF" and they've been talking, also adding that he plans on taking her for a date (shown below).



On August 7th, 2022, Lopez posted a video to TikTok[12] where he lip dubs a high-pitched growl while flexing, shirtless, challenging Gravy to a boxing match (shown below). The video gained over 25 million views in 10 days, and he posted several more videos and pieces of content challenging Gravy.

On August 11th, Gravy responded to the fight challenge on TikTok,[13] calling Lopez immature and saying he was embarrassing his family as Gravy refused the challenge. The video gained over 27 million views in six days (shown below).

Yung Gravy and Sheri Easterling's VMA Appearance

On August 28th, 2022, Yung Gravy and Sheri Nicole Easterling attended the 2022 VMAs together. According to People Magazine,[14] Yung Gravy reportedly called Sheri Nicole a MILF at a pre-show interview, saying "I'm into MILFs and she's kind of the queen of MILFs, so I figured it was just a perfect match."

On the same day, Monty Lopez took to Instagram[15] to react to this event, posting a shirtless selfie with text overlays that read, “Unbothered! Thank you @youngravy for taking the leftovers! I would rather spend time with my daughter and 2 grandkids that SheriNicole made me abandon as a child inorder to be with her!” The post was then reuploaded on Twitter by @emayeseekay on August 29th (seen below). Monty went on to say “Never let a woman make you choose between her and or your blood child!” before adding the hashtag “#tiredoflivinglie." He also posted an Instagram poll asking his 1 million followers if he's the "Hottest GILF," receiving a resounding "No" as an answer.
