Am I waiting on X? refers to a style of YTPMVs that use the trance remixed version of "Am I waiting on a Square Space?" (Japanese : 四角い宇宙で待ってるよ), an ending theme of the Japanese TV animation series Saki.^[1]

This remix was first included in "Dempa Trance", a compilation album for anime song trance remixes which was released by the Japanese music label EXIT TUNES in February 2010, and it was popular soundtrack in YTPMVs in the first half of 2010.

Origin

The triggering video of this fad was "Am I waiting for Team Fortress?" which was posted by the German YTPMV creator Healzer in around May 2010.^[2] As indicated by the name, this video is a derivative of Team Fortress 2 fad.

The original was deleted by Healzer himself, this video below is a reuploaded one.

Spread

Other YTPMV creators accepted this quite convenient editing style as usual, and began sending responses to that by their own made videos.^[3]

The highest peak of this fad is June 2010 when most of those responses were posted to YouTube. This was nothing more than a small inside fad in YTPMVs.
