On September 1, 2011, user niban-destikim from DeviantArt posted a comic of his regarding the My Little Pony Friendship is Magic characters Applejack and Rainbow Dash, featuring a minor character called Spitfire.
The last episode of Season 1 of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is set in the Grand Galloping Gala, a fancy yearly event held at the Canterlot Palace which the main characters are exited to go. The Gala turns out to be a real disappointment for everyone.
The comic is based on the Family Guy clip in which Stewie and Brian Griffin are trying to get out of the army and try any excuse to get kicked out, including kissing in public.
The comic was posted in Ponybooru and received a big influence on the users, who soon started their own parodies:
