Anya's "Heh" Face or Smug Anya Face refers to a manga panel of character Anya Forger from SPY x FAMILY with a smug face and saying "Heh." Her expression has been used in redraw memes since it's print.

Origin

On July 1st, 2019, the eighth chapter of SPY x FAMILY was released^[1]. In the chapter, Anya was annoyed at a boy named Damian that always bullies her, when she remembers what Yor, her mother, says to her: "when someone is being mean to her, just do a smile." Then she starts to make a smug face instead of a smile at him and says "Heh." (shown below).

Spread

The chapter, especially Anya's panel, gained popularity among anime communities. The first use of it appeared on July 4th, 2019, when Reddit user Tsunami45chan^[2] uploaded fan art of Anya's "heh" face to the /r/manga subreddit. The post received more than 5,200 upvotes in three years (shown below, left). On October 10th, 2019, an Imgur^[3] user uploaded photos of stickers that use Tsunami45chan's fan art. The photo received more than 200,000 views (shown below, right). On the same day, Reddit user ManInGlasses^[4] shared the photo to /r/manga subreddit. It received more than 5,400 upvotes.

The Anya's face is also used as redraw material. On December 1st, 2021, Twitter user @Ginfutsuu^[5] uploaded fan art of Hololive virtual youtuber character Anya Melfissa. The tweet only received 12 retweets and 54 likes, but on the same day, Reddit user GtrsRE^[6] shared the fan art to the /r/hololive subreddit. The post received more than 2,500 upvotes in five months (shown below, left). On April 20th, 2022, Facebook^[7] user Ruu-Puu uploaded fan art of Ayaka and Kokomi from Genshin Impact to a fan page, where it received more than 3,700 reactions and 551 shares in two days (shown below, right).
