Asmongold Drinks Water For The First Time refers to a viral video of Twitch streamer Asmongold drinking water and then immediately sipping a bit of soda to make the water "taste" better. The satirical clip was originally posted in March 2022 on YouTube but resurfaced in late August 2024 as netizens started to post jokes pointing out the streamer's unhealthy room, drinks and issues with the taste of his water.

Origin

On March 17th, 2024, The streamer Asmongold's official clips YouTube^[1] page uploaded a video titled "Asmongold drinks water for the first time in his life," which shows the creator drinking a bottle of water and later sipping a cup of soda to make the water "taste" better. The video (seen below) amassed more than 871,000 views and 12,000 likes in two years.

Spread

A few years after the clip was posted to the internet, X / Twitter user @DelysidOfficial reposted Asmongold's clip on August 26th, 2024, which amassed over 4 million views and 41,000 likes in a day.

The creator later deleted the post after the streamer^[2] reacted to his viral tweet, stating that the content was just satire. Asmongold's reaction (seen below) amassed more than 186,000 views and 6,700 likes in a few hours after it was posted on August 28th.

Asmongold's video also became the subject of memes and parodies on X, as X^[3] user @KA0MIKfromX posted a clip on August 27th, 2024, of The Engineer From Prometheus dying, captioning it, "Asmongold drinking anything that isn't doused in fructose for the first time in 20 years." The post (seen below) amassed roughly 4 million views and 94,000 likes in a day.
