About
Attack the D Point! is a radio callout from War Thunder used to tell players to attack the now-defunct D point. A D point once existed on War Thunder's Carpathians map but was later removed. After the D point's removal, players continued using the callout, sometimes as a signal that they're veteran players. The D point also became the subject of memes within the fandom.
Origin
The D point used to exist on War Thunder's Carpathians map as a capturable objective. The D point would only appear in the latter half of the game. Players can use the radio callout, "Attack the D point!" to ask others players to go for the D point. Sometime around 2017, Gaijin Entertainment, creators of War Thunder, made changes to the map and removed the D point, but did not remove the radio callout.[1] In 2016, YouTuber[2] Morgan Kell uploaded a video showcasing War Thunder footage where the D point can be seen on the map (shown below).
The "attack the D point" callout inspired confusion in the community after its removal, particularly by new players. For example, in 2017, the callout was discussed on the War Thunder[3] forum and /r/Warthunder[4] subreddit.
