About
Baby Bill Cipher is a drawing of Bill Cipher from Gravity Falls as a baby, depicted with one big wet eye and oversized Velcro sneakers. Baby Bill appears in The Book of Bill, an illustrated novel written by Alex Hirsch (creator of the animated series) from Bill's perspective, released in late July 2024. Baby Bill became the subject of memes throughout August 2024 on sites including TikTok, Reddit and X / Twitter, including fan art and animations.
Origin
Alex Hirsch's The Book of Bill was released on July 23rd, 2024. The book is written as if by Bill Cipher. In one section titled "Early Years," Cipher shares a baby picture of himself, writing, "I had Velcro shoes that squeaked as I ran!" (shown below).
On July 24th, TikToker[1] @emelos_bizzare posted a video in which they open and flip through the book, particularly focusing on the image of baby Bill Cipher, garnering over 764,000 views in two weeks (shown below).

For example, on August 4th, 2024, X[2] user @Kimu_DRAWS posted a clay figure of Baby Bill, garnering over 54,000 likes in five days (shown below, left). On August 5th, X[3] user @anic_at posted a meme featuring Baby Bill that gained over 3,200 likes in four days (shown below, right).
