Bear Walks By a Bus refers to a viral video of a brown bear walking on its hind legs past a tourist bus. Originating from a Twitter post, the video gained popularity in edits on iFunny and Instagram in March 2019.

Origin

On March 16th, 2019, Twitter user @nurulshaz1nimds posted a video of a brown bear walking upright past a tourist bus in Everland Resort in South Korea (tweet no longer available).[1][2]



Spread

On March 21st, 2019, iFunny user Smuke posted the first known edit of the video, gaining over 109,700 smiles on the plarform in four months (shown below, left).[3] On March 22nd, 2019, Instagram user nochillpost posted a screenshot of a tweet by Twitter user @_ellenisdead combined with the video (original tweet no longer available), receiving over 1.5 million views and over 141,000 likes in four months (shown below, right).[4] On the same day, iFunny user AreaFiftyOne reuploaded the post, receiving over 49,100 smiles in the same period.[5]



In the following days, more edits of the video appeared online, primarily on iFunny and Instagram, with notable edits posted by users Cyranek, [6] nitro_if[7] and nova_xeno.[8]
