Big Dog Status or I Got Big Dog Status It Ain't No Secret refers to a string of lyrics from the 2018 song "King's Dead" by Jay Rock, Kendrick Lamar, Future and James Blake. The lyrics became a prevalent caption used in memes, particularly image macros, alongside images of large dogs in 2020, including a series of weekly memes celebrating "big dog status Monday" by Instagram meme page boomer.jim. The song also inspired the I Took Her To My Penthouse And I Freaked It memes.
Origin
On January 11th, 2018, Jay Roc, Kendrick Lamar, Future and James Blake released the song "King's Dead."[1] At one point in the song, Future raps, "I got big dawg status, it ain't no secret" (shown below).

Two of the earliest memes to use the phrase "I got big dog status it ain't no secret" were lyric video edits uploaded to YouTube[2][3] by RawkSalid and anime is cool on May 14th and August 8th, 2018 respectively, gaining over 60,000 and 540 views in four years (shown below, left and right).

On December 31st, 2019, an unknown Redditor uploaded an image macro to /r/deepfriedmemes[4] showing a fat bulldog captioned "I got big dog status it ain't no secret," which was archived by Awwmemes[5] that day (shown below, left). On January 20th, 2020, Instagram[6] user doggomemes_ posted a similar image macro showing a fat wiener dog with the caption, gaining over 3,800 likes in two years (shown below, right). The meme was shared to /r/beatMeatToIt[7] and by Facebook[8] page Short Fella Memes: V in February, gaining over 270 upvotes on the former and 2,600 shares and 3,800 reactions on the latter in two years.
Big Dog Status Monday (BDSM)
On November 16th, 2020, iFunny[13] user SwaggyDKnows posted a demotivational poster of a large dog captioned "YO GUYS ITS TIME FOR BDSM BIG DOG STATUS MONDAY," gaining over 70 smiles in just over a year. This is the earliest known post about Big Dog Status Monday.
On December 7th, Instagram[9] meme page boomer.jim posted a demotivational poster showing a large dog captioned, "BIG DOG STATUS MONDAY," gaining over 15,700 likes in shortly over a year (shown below, left). On many following Mondays, the page posted a new meme announcing Big Dog Status Monday, often with a double-entendre joke using the acronym BDSM to refer to the date (examples shown below, right).[10]
Posts about Big Dog Status Monday spread to other accounts. On December 30th, Instagram[11] page howitfeelstochewfivegum posted a version of the meme, gaining over 4,000 likes in a little over a year (shown below). On May 17th, 2021, a BDSM meme was shared to /r/memes.[12]
