The Buss It Challenge, also known as the Bussit Challenge and the BussItChallenge, is a transformational TikTok trend set to the song "Buss It" by Erica Banks. In the challenge, participants begin a slow dance in a set of leisure clothes, the participant then drops out of the frame. In the next shot, the participant is twerking in makeup and evening wear (similar to Karma Is A Bitch).

Origin

On May 15th, 2020, rapper Erica Banks released the song "Buss It."[1] The following month, on June 8th, 2020, she published the music video for the song on YouTube. The post received more than 1.7 million views in less than one year (shown below).

On January 1st, 2021, TikToker @erikadavila120 published a video set to the song. In the video, @erikadavila120 is seen dancing to the song and dropping out of frame. The video cuts to the TikToker twerking in the same clothes. They added the chyron to the video, "Someone plz do this transition but all prettied up omg plzzzz." The post received more than 14 million views, 1.9 million reactions and 4,900 comments in less than two weeks (shown below).

The following day, people began posting variations of the meme in which the participant's clothes change from one shot to the next. For example, on January 2nd, 2020, TikToker @kelleygrissom_ shared a variation and tagged @erikardavila120 in the post. Their version of the trend received more than 6.9 million views, 1.1 million reactions and 15,000 comments in less than two weeks (shown below, left). On January 3rd, TikToker @gjuanita posted a version that received more than 34 million views, 5.9 million reactions and 36,000 comments in less than two weeks (show below, right).
