About

Can You Get Me A Coke? is a phrase adapted from a quote said by Kate Hudson in the movie How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days. The phrase and its meaning are used when it is the most inconvenient time for the significant other of the woman saying the phrase to go get her a Coke, but the punchline to the phrase is that the Coke is acquired despite the inconvenience.

Origin

The phrase first comes from a scene from the 2003 comedy movie How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days, in which Kate Hudson's character Andie tries to make Matthew McConaughey break up with her, leading to a lot of annoying antics taking place throughout the film. The one this meme comes from, however, is when they are watching an NBA finals game, and in the last minute of the close game she asks him to get her a soda, ruining the experience of the game for him. This scene was uploaded to YouTube[1] on March 20th, 2020 by the account SunnyandSand, where it earned over 43,000 views in three years (shown below).
