A Green Tea Shot is an alcoholic shot consisting of a 1:1 ratio of Irish whiskey, peach schnapps, sour mix and lemonade or lemon-lime soda that's meant to taste like green tea. Green tea shots became increasingly popularized throughout the mid-2010s and 2020s among college students, inspiring memes and discussions on social media platforms like TikTok and Twitter.
Origin
The exact origins of the green tea shot are unclear, but the earliest apparent recipe for green tea shots was posted to YouTube by Drink Lab[1] on November 24th, 2015, gaining over 56,000 views in seven years (shown below). They also posted the recipe to the DrinkLab[2] website.

White Tea Shot
A white tea shot is identical to a green tea shot but uses vodka instead of Irish whisky.

Green tea shots became increasingly popularized throughout the mid-to-late 2010s and the 2020s. On April 12th, 2022, TikToker[3] @angel.dookie posted a video joking about getting too drunk on green tea shots, gaining over 8 million views in a month (shown below).
