Day-Night Toggle Button is an exploitable comparison meme in which people post images of what they do and how they act during the day and what they do and how they act at night. The format of the meme uses two-panels, similar to Drakeposting and the digital day and night toggle buttons found on smart phones and other electronic devices designed to designate "night mode" from "day mode."

Origin

The earliest known iteration of the meme was posted on the /r/MemeEconomy subreddit on April 4th, 2018 by Redditor[1] AussieDude32. The post features a photograph of several police officers in the day panel and a group of Ku Klux Klan members in the night panel. The post (shown below) received more than 27,000 points (76% upvoted) and 625 comments in two months.

Following the /r/MemeEconomy post, the format appeared various other subreddits. That day, Redditor[2] Bananapopcorn posted a variation using two images of actor Tobey Maguire from the Sam Raimi-directed Spider-Man films. The post (shown below, left) received more than 11,000 points 94% upvoted) and 90 comments. Redditor[3] tucklebuckle posted a version in the /r/FireEmblemHeroes subreddit, receiving more than 4,200 points (92%upvoted) and 190 comments in two months.

On April 11th, Redditor[4] aNoGoodSumBitch posted featuring Mark Zuckerberg being compared to a person in a lizard costume. Within two months, the post (shown below, right) received more than 600 points (98% upvoted).
