Is Fortnite Actually Overrated refers to the title of a YouTube video from the channel Junior Studios. In the video, three boys discuss the merits of the video game Fortnite and whether or not it is worthy of its popularity. A screenshot from the video later inspired an image macro series in which people edit the name of the video.

Origin

On January 6th, 2019, YouTuber^[1] Junior Studios uploaded the video "Is Fornite Actually Overrated" (shown below). While at the time the first screenshot of the video appeared it had only over 150 views, following it going viral this quickly increased to more than 360,000 views in a few weeks.

Spread

On August 11th, 2019, Tumblr ^[2] user the-memedaddy shared a screenshot of the video. The post received more than 61,000 notes in one week (shown below, left).

That day, Tumblr^[3] user georgedesand shared the image and added the caption "Plato, Aristotle, and Socrates." The following day, Redditor ^[4] cro_074 shared the post in the /r/memes subreddit, where it received more than 30,000 points (95% upvoted) and 200 comments in one week (shown below, center).

The following day, Facebook ^[5] user Noah Hammer shared the image with the name edited to read "Is Black Panther Overrated". The post received more than 8,000 reactions and 600 comments in one week (shown below, right). Additionally, the @LivvyFanon Twitter shared the still image with the same commentary as georgedesand;^[6] this tweet received more than 82,000 retweets and 346,000 likes in one week.
