Overview

Dead by Daylight refers to an asymmetrical survival horror game developed by Behaviour Interactive, and published by Starbreeze Studios (Who were known to have published games such as the PAYDAY series. However, they sold their rights to Behaviour Interactive in 2018). The game was released on the 16th of June, 2016.

Background
On 16th of June, 2016, Dead by Daylight was officially released to the public, on Steam. It featured only three killers, The Trapper, The Wraith, and The Hillbilly. However, back then the game had a cult following for a short while..

The game started trending on October, 2016 when The HALLOWEEN chapter DLC was announced, featuring iconic horror movie slasher, Michael Myers.

This DLC gave the game a lot of attention and players. Spawning a lot of parody videos on YouTube such as 'Meet Michael Myers, which is a edit of Team Fortress 2's Meet the Spy trailer.

The game spawned more memes as time progressed, most popular of these memes being Matheiu Côte's "I think we did a pretty good job so far". In an infamous interview of the game back in 2016, which the original video has unfortunately been unlisted from YouTube. Other popular memes of the game, were the photoshopped image of Shirtless Myers.

As of 2017, the A Nightmare on Elm Street chapter, featuring Freddy Krueger was released.

Spawning memes of 7 seconds, fedora man bad and nicknames such as Sharp Hand Joe (Which is a reference to a bootleg Freddy Krueger action figure, which that too also gained meme status)

As of September, 2019, The Stranger Things Chapter was released.

Bringing in even more players, and more memes about The Demogorgon wearing a shirt. As well as nicknames such as 'Demme Le Gorgon' and* Flower Face*.

Developments
On June 16th, which just happens to be the anniversary for the game, The Silent Hill chapter was released for all platforms. It featured iconic character, Pyramid Head as the killer, Cheryl "Heather" Mason as the survivor, and Midwitch Elementary School as the map.

The game's popularity just got bigger, as Petitions for Killers, such as Springtrap from Five Nights at Freddy's were put out.

Trivia
Mathieu Côte, developer of Dead by Daylight, just happens to be aware of some of the memes for the game, even referencing Daddy Myers and Shirtless Myers in a tweet.
