About
Diet Cock refers to an Engrish misspelling and mispronunciation of the beverage Diet Coke that adds a sexual connotation to the name. Diet Coke and regular Coke are occasionally misspelled and mispronounced intentionally this way online for the sake of comedy and unintentionally by non-English speakers. One of the earliest viral examples of this is a 2013 Korean language lesson by the YouTube channel Seemile Korean attempting to teach Korean speakers how to say "Coke" in English.
Origin
Mispronouncing "Coke" as "cock" is common among Asian speakers. On March 5th, 2010, YouTuber Tarle Speech & Language Services – English Pronunciation posted a video specifically informing those learning English that mispronouncing "Coke" runs the risk of saying "cock," describing how it's a double-entendre for a rooster and a penis, gaining over 160,000 views in 11 years (shown below).
On January 28th, 2013, YouTube[1] channel Seemile Korean, which hosts videos teaching Korean speakers English, posted a video teaching viewers how to say "do you have" and "give me," using Coke as an example in her sample sentences. Throughout the video, she mispronounced "Coke" as "cock," resulting in her saying phrases like "do you have cock" and "please give me cock" (shown below). The video gained over 814,000 views in 10 years.
Ray William Johnson reacted to the clip in a since-deleted video, which was reuploaded to YouTube in 2013 (shown below).
