Origin

Anime Doomer Girl was first created on May 24th, 2021, by the Twitter^[1] account @harrishero10, who tweeted their OC creation, earning 1,400 likes in three months (shown below).

Three months later, on July 15th, 2021, Redditor Rede331^[2] uploaded the vertical comparison image of the Anime Doomer Girl contrasted against her original form, earning over 134,000 upvotes in 11 days (shown below).

Spread

The meme continued to minimally spread until July 26th, 2021, when the sites Hugelol and Reddit both had multiple uploads of the meme on the same day. Hugelol^[3] had its version upload with the contrast being between supermodels and a random girl passing down the street (shown below).

The Reddit upload was a different take on the meme, this time with it being side-by-side horizontally, with the post upload caption saying "one of them has got it going on," and the two images being compared are Anime Doomer Girl and Samsung Sam. This meme was uploaded to the /r/dankmemes^[4] subreddit by Redditor Stand_kicker on July 26th, 2021, receiving 822 upvotes in 12 hours (shown below).
