About
The DTB Trend and the internet slang acronym "DTB" gained traction on TikTok in December 2024. The trend involves people recording themselves holding out their fingers in a pinching motion while trying to capture the face or head of someone in the background between their fingers. The motion is reminiscent of a recurring "Headcrusher" gag in the 1980s comedy show Kids in the Hall. The trend was restarted in 2024 by Baddies Caribbean cast member "Diamond The Body." The term "DTB" has formerly also been associated with the phrase "Don't Trust B-tches" and "Don't Trust Boys." The DTB head-crushing videos often ended with the person being "pinched" playfully smacking the person recording, which added to the confusion about whether the acronym stands for "Diamond The Body" or "Don't Trust Boys/B-tches."
Origin
Precursor
The 1980s comedy show Kids in the Hall featured a recurring gag in which the "Headcrusher" would walk around Wall Street "crushing" the heads of bankers between his fingers. One episode also showed the character encountering his nemesis, the "Face Pincher." Relevant clips from the show were reposted to YouTube[1][2] by FBIVideo1 and Above Average on November 17th, 2009, and June 4th, 2012, respectively.
