About
Eu Sabo Muito is a grammatically incorrect sentence derived from the Portuguese catchphrase "Eu Sei Muito," which translates to "I Know A Lot" in English. The phrasal meme is often accompanied by cartoonish drawings of memorable personalities like Albert Einstein and Nikola Tesla paired with the overlay text to create image macros. The meme, which also includes a different version featuring the similar phrase of Sabe Muito, started to go viral in Brazil around March 2023 on iFunny, spreading to Twitter as a reaction image shortly after.
Origin
The earliest found post using the grammatically incorrect sentence "eu sabo muito" was uploaded on iFunny on March 26th, 2023, by user @veigga_[1]. The image (shown below) features a cartoonish drawing of the scientists Albert Einstein and Nikola Tesla as humans with superpowers paired with the overlay text "eu sabo muito," which received roughly 25 reactions and one comment in six months.
Spread
Online, the image macro of Albert Einstein and Nikola Tesla became a popular reaction image and video over the following weeks and months. For example, on April 4th, 2023, the YouTube[2] meme page MemeNoBrazil uploaded a video dubbing the "eu sabo muito" meme (shown below), which garnered over 6,400 views and 390 likes in five months.
On August 6th, Twitter[3] user @nilsonarj posted a Twitter thread of what they considered the best "eu sabo" memes. The post (shown below) received over 35,200 likes and 2,400 retweets in a day.
The "eu sabo muito" meme also became a prominent trend on TikTok in which users posted different drawings and images of Einstein or Tesla paired with the overlay text in Portuguese.
For instance, on July 25th, 2023, TikToker[4] @wesleyhsl posted a drawing of Einstein paired with the text "eu sabo" (shown below, left), which garnered over 853,000 plays and 210,000 likes in a month. On July 31st, TikToker[5] @rojas__matiasss posted a cartoonish drawing of Nikola Tesla paired with the overlay text "eu sabo até demais" (English: "I know too much"), which received over 51,600 plays and 10,000 likes in a week.
