Baxter and Thievin's Car Crash, also known as the Death of Baxter Hosley and Thievin, refers to the purported deaths of TikTok fitness trainers and influencers Baxter Hosley (@baxter_fit) and Thievin (@thievin.gg) in mid-March 2024 due to a car accident. While there are no reliable sources confirming their deaths as of March 13th, 2024, the incident became a viral topic on Twitter / X and TikTok as fans of the content creators mourned their sudden passing by sharing tributes and messages on the influencer's accounts.

Background

On March 12th, 2024, Ekkovision's TikTok^[1] page, a workout supplement firm that had previously worked with TikTok fitness trainers Baxter Hosley and Thievin, posted a three-minute-long video expressing its condolences towards Baxter and Thievin's death due to a car accident, saying on March 10th that they had "lost two of our brothers. The family lost their sons in a horrific event." The video (shown below, left) amassed over 7 million plays and 514,000 likes in a few hours.

Shortly after the video went viral on TikTok, several users started to share videos of TV news reports of Baxter and Thievin's purported car crash, which allegedly occurred on March 10th in Houston, Texas. For instance, just a few hours after Ekkovision's post, TikToker @trentwins._^[2] shared a clip (shown below, right) of a news anchor supposedly describing the March 10th car crash, stating that a BMW was "speeding around other cars before the crash," which amassed more than 1 million plays and 84,000 likes in a few hours.
