Overview
Coachella 2019 is the 2019 edition of the annual Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. The festival, taking place over the weekends of April 12-14 and April 19-21, featured Ariana Grande headlining the April 14th and April 21st dates, making her the youngest performer and fourth woman to hold that slot. Childish Gambino and Tame Impala are the headliners of the other nights of the festival.
Background
On January 2nd, 2019, the official @Coachella Twitter feed posted a lineup poster for the upcoming festival (shown below). Within 48 hours, the tweet gained over 229,000 likes and 69,700 retweets.
In the coming days, several Coachella poster parodies began circulating on the social media platform. On January 3rd, a Twitter Moments page titled "These fake Coachella lineups look incredible" was created, highlighting several new examples of the meme.
Developments
The festival began on April 12th, 2019. Childish Gambino headlined the opening night, in which he pulled off a unique marketing stunt by AirDropping a picture of sneakers he designed in collaboration with Adidas to attendees with iPhones.[1] Those who accepted the AirDrop then had 60 minutes to pick up the sneakers for free from a nearby location. The stunt was reported on Twitter user @THEGOODSIDE,[2] gaining over 49,000 retweets and 301,000 likes (shown below, left). The shows came with a "contract" from Glover, in which fans would agree to wear the shoes, come to the show, and keep the shoes on all weekend (shown below, right).
On November 8th, 2018, DJ Jauz, Twitter handle @Jauzofficial,[3] tweeted he would remix Baby Shark if the tweet got over 20,000 retweets. It gained over 26,000 (shown below).
He debuted the remix during his April 12th set of Coachella, transitioning the song into Darude's "Sandstorm" (shown below). The set was covered by Uproxx.[4]

Ariana Grande Performance
Ariana Grande headlined the Sunday night performance, surprising fans by bringing out *Nsync (minus Justin Timberlake), Nicki Minaj, Diddy, and Mase. However, technical issues plagued much of the set, as inadequate lighting and sound issues made the performance sloppy and difficult to see. While some fans were happy with the reunions and the performance, others were upset at the technical issues, blaming numerous potential guilty parties for sabotaging the performance, including the Coachella organizers, Minaj, and jokingly, Victoria Justice, who some fans see as a rival to Ariana[5] (examples shown below).
