About

Bird Hands is a slang term for an observed phenomenon in which women pinch their fingers together at the tips, comparable to the shape of a bird's head and beak, and aim them at someone they are trying to make a point to. The gesture is often painted online by manosphere content creators and enjoyers as a red flag and a sign that a woman is not mentally stable, is dominant, is trying to manipulate a man or is being condescending.

Bird hands started going viral in March 2025 and became increasingly popularized online throughout 2025 and 2026. Women have defended bird hands as a gesture used to emphasize an important point to men who are unwilling to listen to them and have refuted the idea that they are a sign of mental instability. The gesture is similar to the Italian hands gesture.

Origin

In March 2025, discourse about a certain hand gesture largely attributed to women started spreading online, particularly on X / Twitter.

One of the earliest known examples was posted by the X[1] account for the Whatever Podcast on March 18th, 2025. The post shares a screenshot of a TikToker making a hand gesture where the tips of her fingers touch, with the user writing, "WHY DO THEY ALL DO THE THING WITH THEIR HAND?!" In the original video, the TikToker is speaking about what she finds unattractive in men.

The same X[2][3] account made two other posts pointing out the hand gesture between March and June 2025, always taking the examples from TikTok videos of women speaking passionately about things they find unattractive in men.

On June 10th, 2025, U.S. Senator Cory Booker posted a video to TikTok[4] and X[5] where a woman, Viv, talks in favor of immigration and against mass deportation.

On June 11th, X[6] user @ItIsHoeMath, a dating and manosphere-related content creator, quoted the post, writing, "Everyone look at this disgusting retard. He used the 'bird hands' loud bitch video to represent his political beliefs. zero irony. Do you see what I'm telling you about 'liberals?' There's no one in the bodies. It's just hollow shells. Anyway, soon every law he ever influenced will be thrown in the garbage without process and he will be performing manual labor," gaining over 3,100 likes in a year.

This is the earliest known online use of the term "bird hands," although it is unclear if it is the true origin of the slang name.

Mass deportations and cruel policies against hardworking families don't make us safer or stronger -they weaken us.
