CookieLoL Allegations

Overview

CookieLoL Allegations refers to a series of scamming, grooming and pedophilia allegations against League of Legends streamer CookieLoLxx released via a 90-page Google Doc published in April 2023. The document includes numerous Discord screenshots of alleged DMs between Cookielol and underage girls, as well as evidence that CookieLoLxx purportedly scammed his viewers, sponsors and employees out of money. Cookielol apologized for the behavior the day after the allegations surfaced, which some thought was insincere. CookieLoLxx then claimed he would address the controversy during a stream that took place on April 15th, 2023.

Background

On April 12th, 2023, Twitter^[1] user @RiviBoca posted a link to a 90-page Google Doc^[2] consisting of purported evidence that League of Legends streamer Cookielol has allegedly scammed fans, sponsors and employees, has flirted with minors and acted inappropriately with women online and has been generally disrespectful to his mods. RiviBoca commented under his own post, "I did not form this document alone, there was a group of people in it which also includes mods from his server, so I just want to give them credit too." The post gained over 10,000 likes in two days (shown below).

Inappropriate Behavior With Women / DMs With "X"

The first section of the document shares purported DMs between Cookielol and a girl referred to only as X, who was allegedly 16 at the time the DMs were sent.^[3] In the DMs, the two talk about BDSM and he calls her "little sister" when she reveals her age, then calls himself daddy. He also purportedly asks if he can pay her to send photos of herself once she turns 18 and discusses his and his girlfriend's sex life, including sending a picture of her vibrator to X. The conclusion to the section reads:

In conclusion, X, 16 years old when Cookie began messaging her, was repeatedly sexualized and sent inappropriate, degrading content. Furthermore, he repeatedly fixated on her age, how wonderful it was that she was younger, making this all more gross. This is not normal nor healthy behavior for an adult, let alone an influencer, to message a minor.

A message from X is also included at the bottom of the page giving more context to the DMs. In the message, X writes:

“I stopped talking to cookie in dec 2021 completely. I also left his "community" a bit after i think since i found cookie getting cringier n cringier over the time. Now i don't have any excuses for my 'actions' i can only say that i am deeply embarrassed of myself and i was a lost/mentally fcked 16 y/o (i also told him this as u can see in one of these screens of mine), i craved men's attention , so when cookie talked 2 me in that specific way i didnt think much of it but looking back at it now it truly sickens me n it gives me trauma just seeing me n him chat like that but to say that he was an adult at the time and to think for him that it was "normal" for him to speak like that to a minor is more fcked up. Im an adult now and to even think wat cookie did back then, i could honestly never- i already get kinda uncomfortable when a minor makes 'sexual jokes' and im out but cookie didnt seem to mind it and just went at it. Now ive grown so much better as a person and i wouldnt want this ever to happen again to any minors out there cuse u will look back and think "wtf was i doing/saying". And the fact that there was more people out there who cookie did dirty, mods/close friends w/e is fucked up.”

The document goes on to detail further instances of inappropriate messaging purportedly between CookieLoL^[4] and various minors and women from his community, including instances of him messaging a member of his community, Seorin, telling her she would look better if she lost weight. CookieLoL allegedly messaged with a girl referred to as "Q" who had a boyfriend, which he supposedly knew but continued to flirt with. There is also alleged evidence of CookieLoL turning conversations in the "General Chat" channel of his Discord server sexual.

Financial Irresponsibility

The next section of the document is titled "Financial Irresponsibility"^[5] and alleges that CookieLoL delayed payments to some contractors throughout his career for weeks or months at a time, including Rivi (who originally shared the document on Twitter) who was only paid after CookieLoL was called out. The document includes screenshots where Rivi asks about the money numerous times and CookieLoL pushes it, then calls Rivi "annoying" for "the way" he asks for the money (shown below).

The next section discusses how CookieLoL allegedly scammed his sponsors, members of his community and his mods and employees.^[6] According to the document, CookieLoL took a sponsor from Rise of Kingdoms that included a payout if a certain number of users clicked his affiliate link. CookieLoL purportedly created bot accounts to achieve this. DMs discussing the scam are shared in the doc (shown below).

The document goes on to allege that he pulled similar scams with Manscaped and Raid: Shadow Legends. It then details how CookieLoL promised incentives to his community for watching his streams through a points system, where they could exchange points for things like in-game skins. While some users seemingly got their rewards, CookieLoL canceled the program and purportedly left many who had invested in the points system without their rewards.

Disrespect Towards Others

The final section of the document is titled "Disrespect Towards Others"^[7] and details instances between CookieLoL and his mod team and friends where he was purportedly disrespectful to them.

Developments

CookieLoL's Apology

On April 13th, 2023, Twitter^[8] user @CookieLoLxx posted a link to a TwitLonger ^[9] in which he responds to the allegations, garnering over 460 likes in a day. He starts the post:

First, I want to preface all of this by saying that I was not a good person in my past, I let down people with payments as well as words and promises, I was creepy and overly sexual in inappropriate circumstances and generally speaking being a dick. These sexual screenshots were from June, 2020 in which I just had turned 20 and although I should have been a mature adult at that point, but I was not. I’d like to start by apologizing to everyone that I hurt, especially the girl referred to as X

In the post, he explains that he started talking to X in 2020 and that he was "lonely" after quitting pro play to start streaming. He writes that he felt "disgusted and absolutely ashamed" for not stopping after she said she was 16. He then writes, "Growing up in Sweden I never thought that a 3-year gap at that age was very weird, and the legal age of consent is 15," but admits he was still in the wrong and apologizes to her. He then denies the claim in the document that he talked with a girl as young as 13.

He then responds to screenshots from the document in which he claims he raped a girlfriend. He explains that he had an older girlfriend when he was 19 and that one time when they were cuddling, she moved his hand to her crotch. He started touching her and then noticed later that she froze up, comforted her, then continued, writing, "I should had reassured everything was okay. She told me afterwards that she was uncomfortable with it. I felt so terrible about it. In some countries lack of consent isn't considered rape but I consider this rape." He then admits he's "been a creep" to people above 18 before due to "lack of maturity," calling himself a "naturally sexual person."

Finally, he addresses the delayed payments, writing, "I have always been extremely bad with payments during my career and I mentioned this before but there really is no excuse." He writes that he'll be trying to better himself in this regard (full TwitLonger shown below).

Later that day, CookieLoL made a post to Twitter^[10] writing, "I am ashamed of myself and I'm deeply sorry to all those that have been affected by my behaviour over the last years. I panicked and wrote a statement that probably felt insincere and it wasn't my intention. I will talk about everything live on stream 15th April at 7 PM CET," garnering over 460 likes in a day.

On April 15th, 2023, YouTuber Rival posted a clip from CookieLoL's stream where he apologizes for his behavior and declines ever being sexual with a 13-year-old. In the video he calls his behavior creepy and cringe and promises never to do anything like it again. The video gained over 180,000 views in two days (shown below).

Online Reactions

On April 13th, 2023, YouTuber Rival posted a video in which he goes over the document in detail, summarizing each section of it, garnering over 248,000 views in a day (shown below, left). Later that day, YouTuber Pants are Dragon posted a video reacting to CookieLoL's apology, garnering over 10,000 views in the same span of time (shown below, right).

The situation also inspired memes on Twitter. For example, on the day the allegations were released, Twitter^[11][12] users @VinceLoL_ and @notSoSwifts posted memes referring to the accusations, garnering over 1,600 likes and 2,200 likes, respectively, in two days (shown below, left and right).
