On January 14th, 2025, the video was reposted by the Upworthy Instagram^[2] page, garnering over 50,000 likes in a month. That same day, TikToker^[3] @meeesher posted an update video in which she reads the invitation for Doug's "celebration of winter" party, garnering over 287,000 views in a month.

On January 15th, TikToker^[4] @Meeesher posted another video about the party in which she goes to Doug's house and tells him that she will be attending, then has him say hello to the camera, garnering over 905,000 views in a month.

The original viral video and the second follow-up video garnered further virality in early February 2025 after TikToker^[5] @goodnewscorrespondent reposted a mashup of the two, garnering over 22 million views in a week.

On February 6th, Doug's daughter, TikToker^[6] @emackey44, posted a video thanking everyone for their support for Doug and warning people about GoFundMe scams for Doug's party. She also discourages anyone from going to his house and shows some old photos of Doug. She then advertises the real GoFundMe, which is for her mother (Doug's wife) who recently passed away.
