Brian Ulrich’s the 2nd Oath Keepers’ member to plead guilty to seditious conspiracy

Brian Ulrich, 44, of Guyton, Ga., was arrested in August on charges of joining a group of right-wing Oath Keepers members who planned and organized travel to Washington, stashed firearms in an Arlington hotel, then sent several individuals with tactical gear and radios into the Capitol. The leader of the group, Stewart Rhodes, was arrested in January and charged with seditious conspiracy in a superseding indictment with Ulrich and nine others accused of plotting to impede the inauguration of President Biden by force. Ulrich pleaded guilty to two of five felony counts, seditious conspiracy and obstructing an official proceeding. The certification of the 2020 election results in Congress was on the day of the attack. Each count is punishable by up to 20 years in prison. Prosecutors agreed in a plea deal to drop the three other counts of conspiring to prevent an officer from discharging his or her duties, aiding and abetting, and evidence tampering. Prosecutors could also seek leniency for Ulrich, who otherwise could face up to 78 months in prison under federal guidelines. Ulrich said in plea papers that he "and others agreed to take part in the plan developed by Rhodes" to "stop the lawful transfer of presidential power," by force if necessary, and that he acted "to influence or affect the conduct of the United States government and to retaliate" against it. Rhodes has pleaded not guilty.

From Mike Lee to Mark Meadows It's not your fault. But l've been calling state legislators for hours today, and am going to spend hours doing the same tomorrow. I'm trying to figure out a path that I can persuasively defend, and this won't make it any easier, especially if others now think I'm doing this because he went after me. This just makes it a lot more complicated. And it was complicated already. We need something from state legislatures to make this legitimate and to have any hope of winning. Even if they can't convene, it might be enough if a majority of them are willing to sign a statement indicating how they would vote.

I'd like to make this portion of my motion festive in light of black history month to show you how correlated our treatment really is, and of course concede on some clear differences. After all, not only does history tend to repeat itself, but few ever truely learn from it. It's black history month, and there's a lot to learn from it. I find these deprivations, discriminations, and unequal treatments to have strong correlations to what my black brothers suffered under the racist Democrats after the abolition of slavery, thanks to Republican Abraham Lincoln up until the Brown V. Board of Education decision, which the Democrats also hated. I do find our struggle in this Democratic-stronghold city similar to the black populations struggle in the 1950s Democrat-stronghold city of Montgomery, Alabama. Yes, the same city with Rosa Parks segregated bus incident, the city many referred to as the "Cradle of the Confederacy", it even held the Confederate Headquarters early on in the Civil War.

Joshua James pleads guilty to sedition

A member of the far-right Oath Keepers extremist group has become the first to admit to engaging in seditious conspiracy to keep President Biden from taking office on Jan. 6, 2021. Joshua James, 34, of Arab, Ala., pleaded guilty in federal court in Washington on Wednesday to helping lead a group that prosecutors say sent two tactically equipped teams into the Capitol and organized a cache of weapons in a hotel just outside the city. He also pleaded to one count of obstructing an official proceeding, and he may face the stiffest sentence of any Jan. 6 defendant so far, according to preliminary sentencing guidelines.

At the time, he was draped in a Confederate flag. Miller then used a section of temporary barriers as a ladder to scale the walls of the west side of the plaza. He also assisted other rioters in scaling the walls and other architectural obstacles. Miller and others then moved to the Lower West Terrace and close to the tunnel area leading into the building. Miller waved his hand, and said multiple times, "Come on," as the mob chanted "Heave! Ho!" and rocked back and forth in pushing towards the tunnel entrance that law enforcement officers were attempting to secure. Multiple times, he put up his fingers and yelled, "one, two, three, push!" From this position, he also threw a few unidentifiable objects towards the Lower West Terrace tunnel. Then, at about 4:55 p.m., and at his closest position to the tunnel, Miller used a fire extinguisher to spray directly into the tunnel where law enforcement was stationed. Miller was arrested on Jan. 25, 2021, in Cooksville, Maryland. He is to be sentenced on May 23, 2022. He faces up to 20 years in prison for obstruction of an official proceeding and up to eight years in prison for assaulting law enforcement. Both charges also carry potential fines. A federal district court judge will determine any sentence after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors. The case is being prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia and the Department of Justice National Security Division's Counterterrorism Section.
