About
Montoya Por Favor refers to memes and jokes inspired by a catchphrase from a scene from the Spanish reality television show La Isla de las Tentaciones, similar to its English counterpart Love Island. In a February 2025 episode of the show, a participant named Montoya finds out that his girlfriend Anita is cheating on him with a man named Manuel, causing him to sprint across the island toward her. The phrase "Montoya Por Favor!" came to be used as a caption for sports edits and memes in early February 2025.
Origin
The eighth season of the Spanish reality television show La Isla de las Tentaciones commenced in January 2025, following several contestants as they participated in a dating show similar to Love Island.
During the third episode of the show, a contestant named José Carlos Montoya is shown that his girlfriend Anita Williams was cozying up to a new addition to the Villa, causing him to sprint across the beach at full speed, even as the show's producers repeatedly say, "Por favor Montoya, por favor!" which translates to, "Please Montoya, please!"
The clip was reposted to X / Twitter on February 3rd, 2025, by X[1] user @ProjectLabX, who captioned it, "La Isla de las tentaciones esta siendo CINE y Montoya es el goat," which translates to, "The island of temptations is cinema and Montoya is the Goat."
The video was subsequently reposted by X[2] user @PopCulture2000s, who gathered over 87 million views and 250,000 likes in three days. The caption on the post read, "this is CINEMA…Montoya..the tension… you don’t need to speak spanish to understand, this is insane."

Several internet users began posting memes and jokes in reference to José Montoya's outburst, as seen in a February 4th, 2025, tweet in which X[3] user @JoelPostbad uses a GIF of the South Park character Eric Cartman alongside a caption that reads, ""¡ Montoya por favor !" « TE AMO , AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH »" The post gathered over 32,000 likes in three days.

Meanwhile, sports blogs and soccer editors began splicing the sound "Montoya Por Favor!" over videos of their favorite football moments. On February 5th, 2025, X[4] user @panams75 posted a clip of a soccer streaker with the catchphrase as a caption, gathering over 28,000 likes in two days.

On February 6th, 2025, the TikTok[5] page @ligue1 posted a soccer clip with the caption, "MONTOYA POR FAVOR 🏃," gathering over 800,000 plays and 80,000 likes in a day.

Also on February 6th, the TikTok[6] page @rolandgarros posted a tennis clip with the caption, "¡ MONTOYA POR FAVOR ! 🏃😂," gathering over 190,000 plays and 17,000 likes in a day.
